why do people cry so much over the effects of death
General Discussion « Vanguard: Saga of Heroes 9/16/06 11:33:35 AM
I agree totally that there should be a price of dying. It brings an aspect to the game that was missing in WoW. However, I don't want the penalties to be so great that everyone plays super conservative.

It would be difficult to pull off, but yes it would be nice. A game like WoW is going to attract kids though because it is a very light hearted MMOG. If you want to avoid the younger ages you should play more hard core MMORPGs. However, in these MMOGs the adults act like children at times so it is almost impossible to escape the childish acts.

If only World of Starcraft would come out soon.... Imagine if they created WoS with the positives of WoW while incorporting more hard-core aspects of MMOs such as play ran cities and housing ownership. The possibilities are endless.... Would you leave WoW for World of Starcraft Online? |

SWG will never grasp the true SW world because of the flaws with the Jedi. Too many Jedi players, this is not realistic of the Star Wars world we all have come to love and expect. Just doesn't seem right to me, but I will admit I didn't give the game a fair shake. Is there a problem as far as the Jedi character goes? |

SWG 2 would be a great opportunity to start over and create a better system of the Star Wars world. The game lacks realism (as far as SW goes). They could find a better Jedi system so that everyone doens't own a Jedi.

The time for UO 2 is passing us. They should of created UO 2 years ago. I played UO the day it was released, and even played during beta. It was a blast because the game was truley hard core. You died in the game and you felt like $%#@ because you lost all your loot. It was a tough, intense game! Without playing it recently I can't judge the game. However, before I quit it was becoming a think tank for new items and layered skills. There was nothing like UO in the beginning. Now I look at screenshots and it looks like a pastel picture with all these "rare" colors of weapons and clothing. Everyone owns everything there is to own in UO now. UO players only play because of the time invested in the game, not because they have more to explore and accomplish. |

Clearly you've never played early MMO's with house ownership if you think houses are pointless. Trust me the sense of ownership and the ability to make your house unique is a key part in MMO's. WoW is virtually perfect for what it does, however, anyone who has played it for a while will tell you that it has it's limitations. When a MMO world opens up player ran cities and houses the world truley becomes self efficient and limitless. For this reason we MMO lovers must put away this 2nd age of MMOs like WoW and turn our focus on the 3rd age which is Vanguard. |

I think it is dumb to increase the max level. It is unfair on so many levels to time put into the game and gear obtained. Suddenly a lvl 60 epic weapon won't be all that good in hindsight once everyone caps off at lvl 70. If Blizzard wanted to have lvl 70s then they should incorporated that into the plan from the beginning. There are other ways to set goals for characters that seem to have everything, be more creative than just bumping the level. What next level 80?

While people always accuse Alliaince members of not listening this is not the reasonw why they lose. The reason is plain and simple age/experience. Horde are going to be typically more experienced at the game. When a younger player first starts WoW they are going to find the allaince more attractive than the horde because the horde embellish evil. ugly creatures. It is typically not till a player loses interest in the allaince that they make a horde char. Resulting in more experience in gameplay. While there are exceptions to this, think about it; what is a 12 year old more likely to choose as a character a heroic looking allaince member or a big ugly cow? |

I agree that it would be advantageous to you if you want to level quickly and see all there is to see as soon as possible. However, keep in mind that many guilds fall shortly after release because of unforseen complications that the game presents with their system that they have in place to run a guild. Personally, I like to experience the game first alone and then after the first guild break ups happen allow for the chaos to settle and choose a guild based on maturity and organization. Whatever works for you go with! |
