@ OP, it's childish to think that cartoon-like graphics are childish. I am not a child and I love cartoon-like graphics as they are more creative and are funnier. Plus they are easier on your computer and age much better than realistic graphics which are crap in about a year or so....

The fact that you are all making some generalisations about the age of someone playing certain games means you're all CHILDISH!

Mate read more carefully. i dont have anything against cartoon-like graphics. I said about cartoon-like graphics COMBINED with childish content and gameplay. And i dont have anything against the WHOLE genre just the rate they keep popping out and their ratings.

On the contrary i like cartoonish graphics. I m certainly going to play Rusty Hearts ;)

well it all started with "anime styled" MMOs, which i was down for. They were cool, but probably cause i was 13 or 14 when they started coming out. Now i'm 20, almost 21, and i can't stand them. I hate games with a bunch of kids that cant spell or just ask for free items. It brings down the economy man... lol

Same here, i m about 22. It's not just that I don't stand them, it surprises me how poppular and overrated they are. It seems just few years passed after MMOs birth and not only the gaming industry got f*cked up, but the gaming community turns out to be worse and worse as time passes by

You'll realize when you're 32 you'll miss when things were simpler and you could enjoy things regardless of how "grown up" they were.

I'm sure of that considering where the gaming industry is heading to.

btw did u knew Aeria games is shutting down kitsu saga? what a waste.. :( it was one of the nicest f2p out there

Who and what game? :P

hehehe

Kitsu Saga

A game not very impressive on graphics and enviroment but one of the most addicting games on gameplay... pretty much like 2moons..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7loMEUzm8cI

too bad games like this keep shutting down and crap games are staying out there..

I'm bumping it up cause of this:

Blizzard Officially Responds to World of StarCraft

^^

Guys when asking for serials please clarify your area of interest.

US or EU ?

This game doesn't seem to have a free trial, what is it, do I have to email them or what? Every MMO have a free trial, and for obvious reason, MMO can be a huge investment, I just wich to try before I jump in. Any way to try it?

only with the refer a friend system that not everyone can use it and doesnt last long...

I can send you a demo serial if you reply with your email (or pm me)

quoting about the demo:

Aion demo accounts are good for three days, five hours, or level 7, whichever is reached first. At that point, the Aion demo account expires. All of the character information and progress is retained so that a player can continue the adventure when he or she upgrades to a standard Aion account.

They would be dumb not to.  The question is when.  My feeling is its WAY WAY out there....like 15+ year business plan.

Looking at Blizzard's past....they surely take their time developing their games (which has always paid off BIG TIME) and they are VERY careful of canibalization of their marketshare.  I.E., they are careful to release a sequal or similar type game too close to eachother because they dont want to hurt the success of the other game.  It would have been silly to release a Starcraft II shortly after Warcraft III because they appeal to the same audience.

So with that said, its interesting that Blizzard decided to go outside of their current IP box to base their new MMORPG on.  Between Warcraft, Starcraft & Diablo, they could have laid out sequals and MMO versions of their existing IP for the next 20 years.  Since they are going outside the box on this new MMO, I don't see them releasing another MMORPG for atleast another 6-8 years after the new title is released (provided the new MMO has the same success WOW has).  UNLESS.....they develop a completely different kind of MMORPG with this new title (Sandbox ?).  If they do something sustantially different with their new MMO (which wouldn't hurt the subscription numbers of WOW's casual playerbase too much), I can see them releaseing another popular themepark MMORPG (possibly based on SC) shortly thereafter.

yeap.. thats my guess too. They would be insane leaving such a well-known and acomplished title unexploited.

It will take few years deff, but they ARE going to make a starcraft MMO. maybe not a MMORPG , but deff a MMO. Could be a starfract: ghost-like game based on co-op campaign and stuff

The OP was as misinformed as the article, which never followed up on its speculating. It was never in the works and probably won't be for a long time, as Blizzards next MMO is based on a brand new IP.

Guess what Blizzard announced at Seoul, South Korea, on May 19th, 2007? (Where the article claims they will announce the MMO)

Starcraft 2.

Read more carefuly next time you decide to get arrogant. I'd suggest you read the whole thing before you random flame.

I said it was a HOAX, or someone was too misinformed and spread false rumors. The point of this thread is to see oppinions and talk about a Starcraft MMORPG, not to discuss something that's supposed to be on the works from Blizzard.

kthxbye

It'll be a WAR40k clone.

So sweet. I can finally say that now.

Heh, I always thought SC was a 40k clone. I can easily imagine I am not the only one who sees Terran, Protoss and Zerg as Space Marines, Eldar and Tyranids.

There are many fundamental aspects of RTSs that exist throughout many games. It is easy to see similarities between RTSs because most are very similar. The reason for this is because someone found a formula that wokred well.

These similarities are not just prevalent in RTSs, but in all video games. I think the term that best applies here: if it is not broke, do not fix it. Would you rather create a rehash that has a higher probability of success or spend a decent amount of money trying to create something unique? Most video game designers tend to take a very conservative road when it comes to IP development.

Warhammer and Starcraft both pull from previous literary works, as does anything sci fi related.

One could also say that they are both similar because they both take influence from the same things. Starship Troopers, Alien, and Predator among them.

Love this vid as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ec0H0tMuJac&feature=related

Blizz has already stated that they are NOT doing a SC MMO.  The one in the works is something completely new and will resemble something closer to Global Agenda or WH40k.  I honestly can[object Window]t believe people still think this is coming...

Noone said it[object Window]s on the works mate. We[object Window]re just guessing sometime in the DISTANT future they ARE going to benefit from the glory of Starcraft by making the most poppular game gerne at the time.. A MMORPG

I think it would be awesome, and it would do amazingly well... and it will NEVER happen.

I think it will eventually.. we re just gonna be much older :-P

By the way guys... Have you ever seen Starcraft ghost? It was a game they were developing but was cancelled...

Thats almost like a taste of a Starcraft MMORPG...

Yes more mmorpg on the market to pick from the better. problem is, I do not believe a starcraft mmo could be very much successful.

why?

Aiming combat is a small group in the MMORPG genre.

also Sci Fi is also another small group in the rpg and mmorpg genre.

I tottaly agree with that, but remember we're talking about starcraft. I think they just wont risk it, just like most of the companies out there. Don't forget that EVE is around so many years and its still one of the top MMOs out there. Fallen earth drawn some attention as well. However i believe they could make it in a way people are going to play it, removing negative assets such as aiming combat

Well, old gamers should know about this story.. around 2007 there were ALOT of rumors speculating Blizzard was working on MMORPG called World of Starcraft.

You can read an article about this here:

http://wow.joystiq.com/2007/05/05/world-of-starcraft-information-leaked/

That was either a hoax, or a terrible misinformation. However, i'm still 100% sure that blizzard has MMO plans for starcraft in the future.

The point of this thread is to discuss and exchange oppinion about your point of view of an upcoming Stracraft MMORPG.

Do you think it will be a great MMORPG, considering Starcraft storyline? Do you think they will ruin it?

Personally I believe a Starcraft MMORPG could be either a DISASTER, or a tottaly EPIC release that I could end up playing for years. Thats why i believe Blizzard has hesitated to release a MMORPG titlte based on Starcraft. Transfering the world , lore, and epicness of Starcraft into a MMORPG is not an easy task..

Well thats about it for now, i d like to hear what everyone else thinks about this.

I 've included a vote to see where the crowd goes

EDIT:  Just to clarify.. I never stated anywhere that Blizzard has a Starcraft MMORPG on the works. I barely stated a hoax or a misinformation that happened 3 years ago.

You guys wondering how World of Starcraft COULD be , check the videos below.

This was a game developed and cancelled by blizard.

Thats almost like a taste of a Starcraft MMORPG...

Tottaly agree with you. Besides, i never said cartoonish = childish, I just said that those 2 are combined

Ressistance is futile.
