Does this mean there is a possibility that SoE could bring back SWG?

I have to say that I am getting a bit...tired...of the constant trolling of games. It almost feels like the early 90's where it was cool to be a druggie, it seems it's cool to hate on everything under the sun nowadays. I do not argue that there is a sensual theme to the game. But what is humorous is that the character you control does make some very smarmy remarks back at you as you are their "Commander". For example: "You know, you can do something besides look at my ass." Yes, the avatar you control does say that to you. The remarks and innuendos are not made for children. I would actaully consider this an "adult humor" game. Yes, yes. I know. "Well no DUH, you moron!" The story is actaully quite good. It certainly doesn't break from the WoW/SWTOR mold. I don't use cash shops so I won't comment on that and I don't PvP. The game itself, from what I can see, is made to make things easy as it does have an "Auto-run-to..." aspect. Customization is generic. You don't have a whole lot of choices but most of the Free-To-Play games are like that. So take it for what it is. I will say the animations are quite good and the physics are..well...they are done well for what they designed them for. Though I will say it is nice to see the physics work properly than have half the character's body act like it's just a piece of chiseled concrete that doesn't move. The graphics are pretty enough and it doesn't bog down my computer at all. I would go so far as to the say that the game is made to be fairly mindless. Which after a long day might be nice. A drink in hand and just click a button or two. If you are looking for something deep, I suggest looking elsewhere. But for mindless/easy (albeit grindy) leveling and adult humor with something asthetically pleasing to look at, you might like this game. |

Warcraft Patch 5.2 brings back "old school" feel.
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/13/13 8:37:11 AM
This was on the PCGamer site. Not sure if anyone saw it. http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/03/12/world-of-warcraft-thunder-king-pandaria/ A snippette from the article: “Since Cataclysm, we felt like we’d lost our way a little bit,” he says. “We had some really epic quests and we’ve told some great stories, but the second-to-second combat out in the field wasn’t as interesting. So we made an effort with the launch of Pandaria and we redoubled it with this most recent patch to make a lot of cool stuff for players to do out in the world. We still have great dungeons and other instance content, but we also just have fun things to do out in the world with your friends.” The new questing zone, the Isle of Thunder, recalls the faction-wide events of old—such as the gate-opening ceremony for the Temple of Ahn’Qiraj—by unlocking one time as the Horde or Alliance progresses deeper into the island after establishing a beachhead. It’s ripe for hotspots of open-world PVP—another pined-for memory from classic Warcraft—especially because of the zone’s interesting no-fly restriction. Street explains it’s all an intentional throwback to the game’s roots. “Somewhere along the way, we’d lost the sense that being outdoors in the world was kind of a dangerous thing,” he says. “Walking around and fighting mobs is basically the heart of World of Warcraft, and we had lost a little bit of that and wanted to make it fun again.” “It’s great to give ex-players a reason to come back and try it again, and appealing to their nostalgia is a good way of doing that,” he adds. |

I know I'll probably get flamed for this, but I would love to see Lord British bring back Tabula Rasa in some incarnation. That man has such ideas. And I really wish him luck and pray to God that old school MMO's start to come back again.

*chuckles* Mists of Pandaria was the reason I left World of Warcraft. Now that doesn't mean I'm saying it's a bad expansion. I'm sure the game is doing great drawing in new crowds. But it took away what World of Warcraft was to me.

Is it just me, or does Blizzard seem to be running out of ideas for WoW? Haven't played in over 2 years. But it just seems like they're starting to run out of steam on ideas.

Not sure if anyone saw this, but I just found this on PCGamer.com
http://www.pcgamer.com/2013/01/09/tera-going-free-to-play-in-europe-and-north-america/
A snippet from the article: "Tera will be available for free from February. Previous owners will be upgraded to “Veteran” status, receiving bonuses to character slots and bank tabs. Current subscribers will be moved to the TERA Club membership, receiving daily bonuses until their subscription expires, at which point they’ll be knocked down to Veteran. Honestly? I’m almost surprised the announcement took this long. As I noted back when I reviewed the game, Tera has one of the better MMO combat systems, but the mission churn of endless kill X mob quests soured the early-mid game. Still, just looking at the free-to-play comparison chart, this seems to be a generous amount of content available to non-payers, without the silly restrictions that plague some MMOs. Yes, I’m talking about SW:TOR, which appears to treat its free userbase with a genuine disdain." |

Welcome to Generation Me. First there was the Baby Boomers. Then my generation (from 1975 through the 80's. Not sure what that was called). Then Generation X. Now, it's Generation Me. "My game didn't win. So now I'm going to spew bad things about (site/game/whatever) that didn't choose MY game. Me me me me me me me."

I hadn't played CoX in a long time. But I still had many fond and wonderful memories of the game. My question: Though Paragon Studioes was shut down by NCSoft, has there been any talks of you guys getting back together and doing a Kickstarter MMO/Game based on City of Heroes? I know it won't BE City of Heroes, but some new Superhero Kickstarter game? I have a strong feeling you'd have alot of supporters |

Guild Wars 2: On the War Against Bots

Originally posted by teotius No I knew the answer already. It was a rhetorical question. But still. I mean you can by gems, and in turn convert it to gold. The conversion from gems to gold is getting up there. So why support some gold farming puke and not the company that actually made the game? |

Guild Wars 2: On the War Against Bots
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/12/12 2:43:05 PM
I'm glad to see ArenaNet taking a hard stance against botting. Yeah yeah I know, it's basically a true free to play game, you can never fully stop botters. And why should anyone care when they can just make another account (unless it's IP blocked).
I never understood the need for botting. Why play a game when you aren't actually...you know...playing it? |

[General Article] PlanetSide 2: A Veteran’s Comparison – Part Two
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 10/11/12 8:58:14 AM
Now, I'm going to say this right out of the gate. I am NOT very good at PvP. I do ok given time. I find my niche and have at it. That being said.
I loved Planetside 1. Adored it. I loved taking my Reaver and going balls to the wall doing hit and run on bases. Fly in, unleash my rockets into the base and pulling out at full afterburner before someone could get a Phoenix-lock on me. Or those times that I find a nice coushy spot and snipe the hell out of people. Or use my lightning and just bombard an area with my tank fire. I love, as someone said earlier, the days long fights on continents like Hossin or Esamir. Very much loved it.
Now I'm playing the Planetside 2 Beta. It definately feels like a new game. But, at the same time, more in depth. Let me re-phrase that. More in depth in certain areas. AKA: The certifications. And at the same time, things aren't as "easy" as they once were. Things aren't so clear cut. For instance, I want to focus on being a Reaver pilot for the NC. Some of the certs I can understand. Others, not so much. There's no real explination on how to switch weapons or buy weapons for the Reaver.
What I don't care for is that they restricted what factions can use what in terms of aircraft. Why restrict the TR to just the Mosquito? Why don't they have the Reaver too? And why the NC only has the Reaver? Why not give them the Mossie too? The Mossie was a great scouting aircraft.
The base fights seem to only be fought INSIDE of the buildings. At least for the most parts. Which makes the Sniper's job absolutely moot. And I'm not great (ok, I totally suck) in close quarters fighting.
There definately is a learning curve to the game. And I didn't mean to put so many negatives in my post. But all in all, I find Planetside 2 very enjoyable myself. |

This is why I love ArenaNet. They still give a damn about their customers. It's not a perfect solution. But it's a step in the right direction. Kudos to ArenaNet for this approach. I just installed it and used it on my accounts. Just so awesome.

Trent Oster Thinks Fans Negativity and EA Drove Muzyka and Zeschuk from Bioware
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 9/28/12 3:56:23 PM
We can speculate all we want about the real reason to why the two doctors left. All in all, I would like to think that it was a little bit of everything.
They may have thought it was a great idea to have the backing of EA at the time. What could go wrong right? But that's the problem with greedy publishers. THEY are the ones that want to call the shots. And EA is notorious for it. Don't believe me? Look at what happened to Westwood Studios, Earth and Beyond, Command and Conquer (the Kane series). All of them either were dissolved or the games SUCKED because EA just HAD to get their hands in the pot.
And this is evident by the Mass Effect 3 backlash and the Dragon Age 2 debacle. Do I personally feel wronged by what happened? As a former loyal fan of Bioware, yes. Because I believed in what Bioware stood for.
I can imagine how much it hurt to feel so much of that backlash from the fans that believed in you at one time. That praised your name on high because you proved to them what it meant to care about your followers. And then EA steps in and takes that all away.
I think, as I said, that it is a combination of everything and it just all came to a head for the doctors.
Just my 2 cents. |

City of Heroes: Sunset FAQ Posted

I think NCSoft just lost ALOT of credibility in peoples' eyes. This is what they get for being a greedy publisher. Though, I think greedy might not be the right word here. But I can see NCSoft becoming like EA in their decision making.
