All the battle mechanics are designed to concentrate and make fights. I remember attacking resupply, I remember newbies screaming they could not find a big fight, they were running from the FB to the town and dying by a sniper. I remember them leaving in droves. You still want the old ww2ol where squad could have a little kill fest for a few hours a week and the rest of the time the newbes walked toward the exits. Squads still have nights and newbies like not having to hunt forever to find a way to die. |

The release is a bit more than eyecandy. Funny, everyone complained about the lack of graphics and now...this is just eyecandy. Two major rreleases in a year...China, which keeps to doors open and 1.31 which, didnt they say had more than 1k tickets from the first iteration for the beta team? 12 people seem to be doing as much as can be done. From anniouncment to semi open beta in about 6 months, with the China launch going on in the background. Seems reasonable, then again they could have put it on the campaign server and listen to complaints for half a year. They can never satisfy everyone. |

This is hte way it has always been. The game is still running and you can play that for free for two weeks, but this beta is not really open, there are still a lot of things to be fixed. The Rats will run the server with the idea of controlling the tests. Then it will be run for some time to find bugs that escape them and can be found when you have a huge assortment of rigs. I suspect it is easier to have existing player login than try to let new accounts enter also. New players may not even like the control that will be used for the first couple of weeks. So this is not really an open beta, but there may well be one before they release the beta to the campaign server. |

China controls its own servers, WW2OL China is licensed from CRS and CRS only collects money and gives them our upgrades also. |

CRS was in bankruptcy for some time long ago and they had to let many people go. This last cycle included not only 1.31 but the China build which may keep their doors open. All the TOE, Bde movment were designed to produce fights. The HC at one time were trying to win at the expense of fights and CRS listened and the gaming was changed to ensure fights. Newbies, before the implemtation of the mechanics would leave because they fights were small and hard to find. WW2OL cannot survive placating the squads who want to have a couple of squad nights for a few hours. The Rats have to make money, they have to keep newbies. The old days were not that fun, they did not keep newbies and almost drove the Rats out of business. |

One thing I like in the new fix is that infantry no longer lays flat while prone at a berm with their feet in the air. Reported that they now hug the terrain. |

Info for players on current state of game
General Discussion « World War II Online 1/06/10 9:49:04 PM
They built a Chinese version during that time line, the new one was not going live till after the holidays, they had 300 bugs to squash and most likely being done now. It will go live beta soon. I think yoiur post was more of a poor informed crap on the game than the proported heading. If would be players need info, they can ask others. Allied had many nights with beg numbers with some spawn time limits and still lost. The chinese version will keep their doors open for some time and took a huge amount of time for all 15 people there. |

Aren't the standalones showing view distances of 200 meters? |

Seems when I get shot as a commander I die. I don't get wounded often, when I do, I drop down. You want to spend your time trying to kill what everyone knows needs fixing, the mg ai. I got sniped 3 times this afternoon as a bofor gunner, both the commander and the gunner. Dead commander means I can still kill, dead gunner while commander means I can still push. You complain about such a narrow portion of the infantry game. Try kiling some other infantry. BTW..if the commander is up and dead and the view is driver..you will never see the tank stop moving or firing. You will get a kill but the tank is not dead. |

Lowest of the low?..Sounds like more issues than some inability to shoot a gunner in an AI tower. You didn't stay long or try at all, and I suspect you tried to take on a tower alone so you could capture a town, alone and didn't listen to people telling you that as an infantry you cannot kill the ai. Your post is just full of more problems than some very small issue with AI. I am sure your shoebox shooter will let you shoot everything there, but there is 200x200meters, 5 mins, and 32 max players. WW2OL is just not for you and since I have yet to see a post supporting you, the community is not for you. Ta Ta. |

Well said. AI is only a deterent for the loner, and it was added long ago to prevent running unopposed thru the hinterlands. For a bunch of gamers totalling not more than 12 people, working on a code who base was greated in 99, so that every single enhancement requires some very deep code rewrites, which can break something totally unrelated to what is being fixed, I think the game is quiet good. It is the only game that has been on my hard drive since first iteration of beta in June '00. It never fails to surprise me, piss me off, make me marvel at how much it has progressed and since for the last 8 years, the rats have updated and upgraded I know they will continue to improve it as long as their doors are open. We got the new version to check, offline only, because, the rats wanted a Christmas with family and they know that the beta release for online will have problems that will take their time. IF you play, you should not make your assumptions with just a few hours. This game has depths that take a player more than a moment to understand. As for cornflakes...it is just not repeatable, it is an expanded debris from an explosion. They know it is there, that it is buried so deep that it is not easy to find, if it were they would fix it next patch. I have relogged many times to get rid of it. After 9 years, I guess I qualify as a fanbois, but I know it could be so much better, that it has been so much worse, but that I am paying for updates and not the gaming, because, warts and all, there is nothing approaching it. |

Honorble Mention for the worst launches- claims I do not think are true
General Discussion « World War II Online 12/21/09 10:29:31 PM
No this was a bug in the 110 damage model..it was repeatable..inf would shoot out one eng..then the 110 would take off..spinnning around..and flying upward..was very funny. There was more than one video of this. |

They got it back up, I would think it being hit by everyone wanting an offline beta was the problem. I enjoyed the destroy the eng on a 110 and watch it Helicopter straight up was fun. Wish I could find the videos. |

P eople have been saying ww2ol will die soon..for the last 8.5 years. Lot of reasons for low pops and lot of resons for 7 AOs on at one time. I have not played for 2 weeks because of finals, They are over and I will be returning. You think it is thrash but it seems to satisfy a lot of players, you are just not one of them. |

What is the deal with this games trial?

Drivers are not random programs, they are fundamental for the operation of your computer. If you have not upgraded drivers and I suspect you haven't since you bought it, you are running a machine that is perpetually under powered and out of date. This has nothing to do with WW2OL but with standard maintanance of computers Do a Google search on Drivers video, motherboard, sound etc . We all started not knowing about stuff, but take our advice and begin the process. |

Drivers are free, they are the programs that control your motherboard video and sound cards. They should always be up to date regardless of what you are doing. |

Email Bloo@playnet.com tell him your problem and see if they can work something out to let you try the freebie. You can prepay if you decide to stay. You will be surprised at the Rats. Hope they can find a way to let you play. |

When they didnt requie a CC a lot of people abused them by simpy playing the freebie all the time. You can d/l and use all the equipment offline without signing on. They apply 1 dollar to the card to see if it is genuine, and return it if you cancel within 2 weeks. CRS is very good about not screwing ppl and have acutally taken a loss to return monies to ppl who failed to comply. |
