If ww2ol had standalone graphics such a CoD there would be no machine capable of playing it. 3k distance model for each round fired..tracked till it has zero velocity or traveled 3k. Mimiimum view distacne for infantry is 3k..tank and planes see up to 8k if I remember correclty. CoD standalone..have 200 meter by 200 meters maps. That can be the size on one Army Base in one small town and there are over 400 towns and cities last count. Maximum view number is 128..that is in view..look left..128..right 128..and even thos you cant see someone their rounds and presence is modeled. What you cant see can easily see you.\ and kill you. It is the depth of gameplay that keeps poeple playing for 7 years, it has never been the eyecandy.

Lot of people are running it on vista..it is simply not supported. Post in the help forum if you are having problems. I think  1.29 will be vista ready.

Always join a squad to ease the newbie curve. If you are allied..holler on help channel or the objective channel and BKB will recruit you and show you the ropes and should help you rank up. Welcome aboard, I think you will enjoy yourself.

BTW..Day one newbie can kill an 7 year player. Rifles know no rank. No skill points, nothing but experience and some rank is gained over time.

We'll be bringing down the live server for reset today at around 12:00 noon CST (approx.) which is 6:00pm GMT (approx.) ... it will be down for a short time (can't say exactly how long because we have to reload all database fields for the new brigades and ToE's while it is down, and it has to be done manually) .... when it comes back up again we have to manually place both town ownerships and div/brigades since we have no pre-planned or scripted placements for the set-up we have decided to start the "mini-campaign" look weekend setting.

This will mean the arena will be locked for a short time while we move stuff around the old fashioned way.

We are not employing a "Muese river valley" start set-up obviously. Instead we will place both sides around the new Nijmegen region and draw a line from there. this is why we have to do a "manual" movement style reset.

We apologize ahead of time for the delays you will witness while we do this. We will make any such delay as short as we possibly can. We thank you for your patience in the meantime. Any HC that are not "aking a break" are most welcome to come in and assist us while we are moving brigades around, but please, ask us first before doing anything.

Just so that you have an inkling of the ToE changes this brings, here is what you will find:-

HQ Division (supply):

Does not contain more than a basic resupply amount of all available ground units. You can use them to resupply attritted brigades (either armour or infantry) under their associated Div.HQ or to oversupply brigades that are not yet attritted. Perhaps supply columns will make some degree of comeback with differentiated infantry/armour brigade ToEs.

Div.HQ (supply) lists will not be anywhere close to large enough to risk in confrontation with either a regular infantry brigade or a regular (new) armour brigade.

Brigades (both types):

There are two infantry centric brigades under each Army (supply) Division HQ; they have some basic (biased to the lighter stuff) armour but not very much, they have more AA guns, AT guns, ATR's and Mortars than they previously did.

There will be one armour centric brigade under each Army (supply) Division HQ; they have all the available armour you would previously have had under all the non differentiated ToE setup you have been using priorto today. It's just all in a single (armour) brigade now. The armour brigade can be identified by the word (Armor) in parenthesis after it's name in the OrBat. We will change the names to reflect this betterin the future, but that's a gigantic code and database rewrite (seems silly but it's true all the same) so we had to make do foir now or not make the change. We thought it was the right time to go ahead with it.

Armored brigades have some infantry, but only about 20% of what you would find in an infantry brigade.

These new changes apply only to ARMY brigades and divisions ... there is no change to the air or naval branche ToEs at this time.

This should be a fun, exciting and interesting weekend with all the new stuff. We'll be starting off already in a full tier 3 "environment" equipment wise, kind of like the later phase of a live campaign. All normal rules are in effect. after we have collected all the data and impressions we can over a weekends play, we will assess what we have learned and apply that to the start of Campaign #45 next week, where any such data might be applicable. We'll know on Monday what the situation is better than we do now of course, these are signifigant changes we have brought to the game in patch 1.28.5 ... we hope you enjoy them a lot.

From Monday, our plan is to start Campaign #45 ASAP. If the weekend goes well, we should be able to do this on Monday itself. So have fun over the weekend, try all the new gameplay/features/stuff out ... enjoy yourself, and we'll see how everything pans out for all of us, you and CRS alike. Come Monday, we'll know what the deal is and so will you guys.

S! and see you on the Mue... err no .... on the Bridge at Nijmegen.

To bad you gave up, casue I know a lot of poeple flying the same setup. Pedals backwards..push left pedal nose goes right? You did calibrate in windows. There are axis calibration routines in keymapper.

BTW JS Throtlle..is joystick/throttle.

You have yet to post what is wrong with the JS Throttle. I am giving up.

So, are you going to post the exact type of problem you are having after the JS Throttle was seen in the Keymapper?

BTW..a controller fix is something you cannot fix on the help channel because of the complexity of the issue.

Do you have X and Y axis and Throttle in game? You can map functions in the keymapper to your JS/Throttle buttons. I suggest you use Secondary input for your stick if you are not making a stick file.

Do you views work? You did not say what exactly was wrong when you said it still was not working correctly. There is torque drift to the left on takeoff. Do you have pedals?. If not use the X and Y keys which control the brakes to steer on takeoff. Please practice offline to you get confortable...Also hit the L key to unlock the rear wheel to control steering on draggers. Hope this helps. The game is better than you are seeing at the moment.

I'm surprised you cant access the Help Forums..OT is another matter.

So, your CH stick was seen in the Keymapper. When you say it doesn't quite work right, exactly what do you mean? Are you using a USB keyboard. If so, get the green adapter that came with it and use your PS/2 input for the KB just to see if that may be your problem. Do you use a stick file with the JS or are you using the keymapper defaults.

As for the reasons given that you seem to not be able to post to the help forum, they are just nonsense.

I have a post in the help forums to find out the policy on freebie players.

Post your problem in the Forums Windows Help thread. Are you using a USB kb? THere can be conflicts in ww2ol using a USB JS and KB with one or more of the HID drivers. Check the sticky for SGTSpoon in that forum or google his site..SGTSpoon.. Also you must map the throttle in keymapper. Select GAS/Throttle under fighter bobmers..tanks etc and move the throtle.Ususaly shows as Slider 1. Betting you prob is the USB one. You can try to disable one HID at a time to find the one that is causing the problem, cheange to a PS2 KB using a usb/ps2 adapter, boot with the ps2 and launch ww2ol then install the USB KB. Hope this helps.

Welcome aboard, Jake!  Joine a squad as soon as you can and let them help you with the learning curve. You can always quit later if you find another group you like better. If you are Allied speak up on the objective or help channel and the BKB will recruit you immediately.

So, the answer is..you are having fun:-). This is still the best kept secret on the net. Welcome back. I think we picked up a lot of newbies from Becketts Online Gaming..I think it use to be Computer Gaming World but they gave out a freebie code, cause I was flying a big load of newbies to Dunquere trying to save the campaign.
