And for gods sake, stop claiming that companies steal gameplay elements. Its the same freakin genre. You don't hear me yelling how warcraft stole elements of Dune2? Its the same genre. If it works, why bother complaining about it? Both games (WoW and Vanguard) rock. Just because you like one more than the other (Or the other not at all), doesn't mean you have to shove your opinions down our throats. I'lle play both games.

That may just be your internet connection and or computer doing that. Ive never saw that before.

my computer runs this game quite smoothly at high quality

connection is also cool

you don't have to be within striking distance in this game to land a hit

i'm sure this is gonna be fixed pretty quickly - before release even?

my biggest bugaboo graphics wise is my characters strange ability to walk through trees

no matter how big or solid "looking" the trunk is i pass right through

maybe this is on purpose?  i guess it would be really annoying to have to walk around solid objects

I've been reading the threads here and elsewhere and unless the game is unplayable in that you can't advance your character because of quest bugs, or combat doesn't work so you're a dead doggie all the time, I'll be very interested in playing.

Wow I'm not sure what is going on - maybe a connection problem or something else, but even after a fresh install with all the patches since open beta it takes me about 10 minutes to update and that includes the first time file verification.

No idea whats going on either.  Just cant get past the 5-6hr launcher update.  Twisted!  Will have to ask for help on their forums. :)

just look at the properties for the vanguard folder

that will tell you how much you've actually downloaded

the timer on the sony station downloader doesn't exactly have it all together

And if the game has hit that point, then they basically publish the game, or shut it down and never release it.

With around a hundred staff their salaries must be around the 500,000 to 1 million a month mark. So instead of complaining here about the game being released early - ask Sony (assuming they are funding development - despite what Brad said) to cough up 3 million so the game can be released in April.

Thats on-top of the millions they will be spending to actually put the game in store.

As an example - look at Games Workshop. A few years ago they spent something like $10 million developing a MMORPG and then pulled the plug on the project.

So on the flip-side I guess they figure they can find a 100,000 or more suckers to buy the game and keep funding it tills its finished so they can re-coup some of their costs.

But hey - no-one is forcing you to buy it after its rushed to release. And since you are prepared to wait, you should have no problem coming back in 12 months when everyone else has finished paying for the development.

whatever happened to actually releasing a quality product?

if you run out of cash, whatever the item is - if it is not ready or inferior or not what you were aiming for don't put it out there for sale

since i didn't get a beta key for the NA release i thought i would try out the EQII expansion 7 day free trial

downloaded the game with no problem but then i got to the patching - at least 15 hours - couldn't say for sure as the time left went up and down  - finally got it done

very pretty game but lordy - if you buy a box in the store just how old is it and how long will the subsequent download be

got a key for vanguard from the european beta launch so didn't get to play EQII much - the packed version of the game downloaded in less than 2 minutes and was up to date as of saturday - but of course it must be patched and so far after 12 hours of downloading (on a 6 meg download - which is actually between 3 and 4) my time left varies from 5 to 7 hours left constantly

what i would like to know is why isn't the compacted client updated twice a day at least so the end-user doesn't have to go through this

Seems like Sony thinks they have MMO gamplayers on a morphine drip and will go through anything to get our fix

what is it  going to be like to buy the box which will be very outdated the day it is shipped?
