I find it important to point out that is doesn't matter what most MMORPGs are doing, especially when the only MMORPG a person has played isn't like that. For example, my first and most favorite game of all time is DAoC.

For those that don't know, players started out with 7 archetypes in DAoC. The 7 archetypes were different than each other, but it was nothing compared to the diversity one would experience at level 5. At level 5, you got to choose between several classes within that archetype and they played very differently from the other classes within that archetype. This was all before level 10 even.

The point is that just because the majority does something a certain way, does not mean those with higher standards for gaming has to seccumb to them. I haven't decided if I will be playing AoC or not, but it's the comments coming from people who like AoC that is making me have second thoughts about playing. You all are saying the game doesn't open up until after level 20. Well that is unacceptable. A game should be fun and engaging from the start, am I right? That doesn't mean AoC isn't fun and engaging from the start and I have yet to really read enough reviews to determine if it will be for my choice of playstyle.

Hello Kanosi,

after playing Daoc 4 years i can tell you that you going to like AOC, graphic are nice, the starter town was very fun 1-13 ( couldnt play 14-19 in the beta) and lv 20 -25 was very fun to play too.

The lvl 1-20 was originaly made to be played solo..... So thats why you have more instanced zone ....
I played 2 different type of healer from 1-13 and alot in mini pvp game at 20.And tryed a mellee type from 1-13 and lv20. Both were fun and wish i had time to try assasin and ranger class.

I'm sure it's a game to be tryed for anyone who played other mmo then WoW.

You might like it like i did in beta!!!
See you in game maybe!

Hope you find a game that suit your playtime...

Sorry for my english !!

Sounds to me like they made lvling to ez to get that hi with 2 toons!

I think they need to have it where you lose lvls to!

"Sarcasm is stating the opposite of an intended meaning especially in order to sneeringly, slyly, jest or mock a person, situation or thing. It is strongly associated with irony, with some definitions classifying it as a type of verbal irony intended to insult or wound. Sarcasm can also be used in a humorous or jesting way depending on the intent of the person speaking"

I was there for 1 year.

I will try AOC.  War is to much like wow and i dont care to much for wow.

I dunno, the last months I found myself being interested in playing MMOs less and less. It always seems to be the days of grandeur are gone, and even MMOs which seemed to be good once, like LOTRO I find myself greatly loosing interest in. Once I logged daily into a MMO, now... its more once or twice a week. I would love to feel dragged into a MMO as once in SWG, EQ2 or what, but these days... I find myself playing much more single player games again.

I am not going to write dramatic bye bye MMO postings, because I hope some MMO will capture me again, but as it is everything seems to be sterile and boring to me atm. A strange twist after playing MMOs so many years it had a great part of my life. Its like those worlds all lost their magic, their addictiveness, and its all just "more of the same".

Aww well..

FIX to that problem.

Fix =  Player ran ///   Player made//  full loot///   everything breaks//    death penalty //  Thousands of skill///

This means you will be needed ,  means need to do stuff to live like eat / cook/  fight for land and not just go from mob to mob .

Game that has fun stuff like fishing that has alot of different tresures , only if you build that skill of course.

Skills that rise only when you do them,

Skills that drop if you dont use them sort of like forgeting how to do something.

Items that can be made  and you dont know how they look till its made.

Use different stuff to make different colors and different shapes.

Be able to build your own work shop or hire  another player that has a better skill in build to do it for a price or for trade off.

Pets that can be trained and skilled up as long as they stay alive.

Couse you will need someone that is skilled it training pets to get a good one.

Skills and lots of items   no  zones  all pvp all freedom and then you will have a game where people will play for a long time.

Why because there will alway be something that you want to do .

See makeing your own money and building your own stuff  or if you have to get someone to do it keeps ppl comeing back to do these thing for ppl= people in case you dont know!

Thats just a tast of all what iam thanking.

Just picture thousand of skills  and you get skill points for doing them skill if you donate time to it.

Like running, That is a skill if you run around all the time,   your run speed would top anyone else that did not do that as much as you.

Now you got thousands of skills , then you got skill trades,   like cooking to make food do stuff your body for hours .  And in this game you would have to eat no matter what or you die.

Makeing a fire  is a skill , running / jumping/ swimming/ weight lefting/  swinging a one handed sword only gos up if you hit a target.

With  game that has all this to do,   and you must do something  to get your money,   not less you  kill others for a liveing .  But something tells me if you do that  then your skill lvl will drop so much you will be worthless.

NOT TO MENTION  how much armor and weapons you will cost someone . Remember full looot! Death penalty.

well one day i will plan out the game and post it here , but until then just think this=====

Skill bace game/ full loot/ player made/ player ran/ thousands of skills / 50 to 100 skill trades/ death penalty/ everything wears out and breaks/ skill lose for not useing a skill for some time/  no limit on what you wear///  you got to eat and drink //  /   infinty skill no limit, let me tell you what i mean by no limit.

No limit  dont mean your skill never stops,  because remember,  you would have to always be doing that skill and never stop for it to keep going up.

And face it your going to be doing all kinds of other stuff in the game,   there for you cant  max out that skill no way.

iam done hehe!

Thats just a little bit ,  off top of my head not all of it.

I told alot of people about this site over the years and alot of you here came here because i told you about it.

I use to tell chat rooms about this site for along time , that is how alot of people came here iam sure.

But i was ban one time on this site for bashing a game and not telling why the game was no good.

But iam like the one dude that came here in 2002  but i think i was here before that to iam not sure.

But ya , thank you for the wonderful site!

Iam with you on this i told them along time ago that even 4 servers is to many.

They need  only one to start if that one fills up to much , then  turn on another one simple as that.

If population drops after adding 3 then drop back down to 1 server  .

This will keep ppl playing because i am just like this guy i will not play a single player game .

So if i dont see no one in the game then iam leaveing no matter how good it is!

Graphics have absolutely nothing to do with server lag. They are client side and handled by your video card and PC.

That's not true at all.

No hes right server lag is caused by multiple accounts in a server.

Server lag comes from alot of people in the game = bandwidth = server lag

Graphics is on are in and has nothing to do with the server!

But if a game did not have good graohics, then they would be able to do this more without lag.  If a game had great graohics, there would clearly be more lag.

Some people don't always play with a top notch computer.

The graphics in a game is renderd by your video card that means if you dont have a top end card you will lag if there is to much going on.

Because there is memory  stored on your card for faster game play like say you take a screenshot of the area in front of you that is memeory.  and depending on the rez. of the screen shot it verys in size / 1688k

Say you have 512 card that is mega bits   one mega bit is 1000 kilo bits and guest what you just looked in one, place and used  1688 k

So when you see alot of lights and flashing stuff that takes up alot at one time in 1 sec.

Guest what in that one sec you will have a lag spike caused by you not haveing a video card to run the servers video!

Take a look at all the MMORPG's ever built. NONE of them use a free aiming system and there's a reason for it -- because it doesn't work in a MMORPG.

The closest thing to it is PlanetSide and even that is not a true free aiming system. It's a hybrid of it.

Well now wwII online is good and its the bigest map in mmo history as to date!

Now if that is not the best setup in mmorpg history i need to play more games!

With the mass hype focusing on the launch of AoC and whether it will be a success or failure I started thinking about the more recent 'big' releases.

Pirates of the Burning Sea - Population is sinking faster than any ship in the game and there is no real mega patch that is going to change a whole lot anytime soon.  Not successful.

Tabula Rasa - Mass hype and population has come and gone.  Enough patches have helped it along and it has turned into a niche type game.  Not successful but has found a gaming space.

Fury - Not played but it was released with a small pop after much talk and I haven't seen any threads about it for ages. Successful...seems not

Vanguard Saga of Heroes - Major issues at launch and heavy rig needed to play.  Population left in droves and its hard to find another living soul.  Not successful.

What were the last big releases that are still successful?  WOW, EVE Online?  Its a worrying sign and if AoC does gain a healthy following and more importantly keeps it then it will be breaking the trend.  Stats say otherwise and I hope they are wrong for the sake of the MMO industry.

If they ever make a game that  everything including buildings are made by us.

If combat  is  skillfull and not sit and watch.

And with good sound and graphics.

Freedom to wear what you want if you got the money to do so.

Player ran and player made game , all skill game  with hundred of thousands of skills.

That my friend will keep everyone in the game comeing back to have fun trying to be the best in what ever skill they take up. Selling , would be alot of fun to because you would have items that no one has.And you will sell fast because everyone will  come to diff ppl to get stuff they need.

Like if you make potions  you will go to someone that has  hi skill in picking herbs.

And same with everything else . See it will not be just killing mobs and lvling for nothing.

Todays  games you dont need crafting , you dont need skill in anything you do.

Dont need to kill no one because there is nothing to kill for. You dont lose nothing and you dont gain nothing so its boring after you play the first 2 weeks.

So there you have it .

Fun in fighting is fighting  for land, mines., lakes, any resoruce .

Then you got to hold this land , that means people will be needed all the time  to make stuff for the people defending the land.

have hundreds of thousand skills and items that will keep everyone try to make and do stuff all the time.

I like to see a game come out that has a skill for everything we do.

X - Sample===  Fire starting=  Able to start a fire to cook small items to make stuff. Or start a fire in the winter mouths to keep warm. That is one skill.

Now  there would be a skill for everything in the game and that means there would be  hundred of thousands of skills to work on.

Now let me ask you something .

Do you think that ppl  have the smarts to make a game like this ?

And do you think  the reason we have not seen a game like this , is because ppl are not that smart yet?

Well, to the context of the post. There are certain games in which crafting is more rewarding that others. Certaintly its true that you want your item to be worthwhile, however it does not have to be the uberest. A lot of games now do niche itemization. It is usually in this scheme that crafters and raiders coexist well

I still see my way is best because if ppl can get stuff off animals then its a wast of time to try to sell it.

But if it was all player made with thousand of skill then it would be fun to try to be the richest man on the game!

Just wanted to say this: If you got crafting in your game and npc that sell same stuff then you need to take crafting out of your game because it  is not needed.

Only way crafting is fun and  needed  is if that is the only way to get inn game money AND items.

If you got mobs that drop good item and money,   then crafting  is pointless and BORING!

o, for awhile I have been searching around from MMO to MMO trying to find a place to call home. I quit WoW after 2 years of playing it and since then have played a huge variety of MMOs including : EQ2, DDO, EVE, Tabula Rasa, and Final Fantasy XI. While I loved LOTRO ( I am still subscribed to it) and disliked many of the other MMOs I could not find a good MMO to fill the gap in my life!

I was trying to find a huge open world mmo that did not have many instances and was more open world dungeons and such. I wanted none-instanced housing, cool races, cool classes, fun combat and good crafting.

Then I remember Vanguard and remembered that it promised many of the things I wanted. but then I remember how horrible it was on release...but meh I said and bought the game anyway.

So 2 weeks into the game and I am pretty damn surprised! Crafting is way more fun then in any other MMO i have played you actually have to think about how to do it! Also there is crafting gear to improve your crafting, now THAT is cool.

The Races...I wish they were as good as the crafting. Sadly they all look the same with the same bodies..but meh they are kind of cool....

Sadly they took out a lot of the customization features for performance issues but they state they will be adding them back..but until they do customization sucks.

Diplomacy is pretty cool I don't do it much but its a fun little side thing..some people ONLY do Diplo O.o Its pretty cool though. But anyway...

Why do people still hate this game? It isn't nearly as bad as what people say or think it is! I am totally not biased at all....I came into this game thinking I would quit within a couple hours of playing..but to my surprise I actually like it.

It is by no means perfect, far from it actually. The animations are pretty bad but they say they are revamping them in GU6 which is a couple months off. There is still a huge lack of end game content, some mobs aren't balenced correctly so they are pretty easy, and some other things.

I just think this game got such a bad rap when it was released and now everyone thinks its the worst MMO out there..and it's not!

I just think more people need to give this game another chance..they are constantly updating it to improve performance and add new content. So give it another go >: D

Hey :  i want to ask you something about that ,

When you craft and make stuff , is that the only way to get real good stuff ?

OR can you get the same stuff off a npc or a mob?

Is crafting the way to get rich or can you get all your stuff for npc?

I'm going to be very blunt.  If Darkfall releases with everything they say, I have a very bad feeling it will not draw in the massive amount of players people think it will, showing the big name developers that something about it's gameplay doesn't appeal to the masses.  With that being said, instead of actually trying to research what "it" is, they are going to look at DF as a failure (from a money making standpoint) and never try to use any of the systems DF has in game.  All that means is, it'll be 8-9 years before we see another game similar to what DF is trying to bring to the table.

Above comment is purely opinion.

you got to be kidding right?

With there set up  everyone will always be doing something. Not just running around and killing same mobs.

You will live in DarkFall ! Read there site one more time because i thing you was at the wronge site realy!

Darkfall will rule the mmo,   with there skill bace system,    there full loot system , there all pvp no safe zones only with your own kind.

Cant wait for this game to come out .

Well i do buy every mmorpg that comes out in box to give it a try.

I dont stay longer then 2 weeks , not because of bugs but because the game was based on a single player game  .

Single player games have npc selling

single player games have money drops from mobs.

I can keep on going but iam going to stop there.

What iam looking for:

1  player made everything  that would be how you make money. Or you can mine for money fish for money and those kind of things to,

2  Everything wears out and breaks , This keeps everyone working.

3 Combat where you got to hit with your mouse when clicked. Not sit and watch that is the lazy man way. If your that tierd then get off you putor.

4 Skill bace game where you lose skill,  if you do not use that  skill. Skill in the game should not be limited .  But  remember you lose skill in all skills that are not used .

So there will be peaks on skills because you will not be able to train all skills at same time.

Death penalty should be harsh. And full loot should be in game . This makes it worth killing for.

Say theres lot of mines in the area and your group finds them and the enemy sees  those mines to.

There could be a war that last  years just for those mines.

Only drops from mobs should be like fishing ,  With a hi skill in fishing remember everyone will be diff because you can only raise a skill by doing it and that means all other skills will not rise .Say you like to fish and your one of the best fisherman then you should get lots of bonuses .  Same gos for a miner , etc.

With a player ran and player made game you cant run out of stuff to do because your team will need you not like alot of mmo where you dont have to do nothing but sit there if you want. Why you say because everything that the ppl need they can get it from npc ,

Or they can make everything they need in the game so they dont need no one,  SEE single player game!

I like a game where a cook can make stuff to eat that can be eaten as you fight and eat as much as you want and as many as you want to eat as long as you got them. See that keeps a well skill cook in bizzzzz.

Skills should still go down if you only get on it  for  15 mins. this will stop all them ppl trying to build all skills up and keep them like that,  The more time you spend on a skill the more  skill points gained in that skill , but to keep going up in skill you need to do that skill as much as you can.

If you stop doing your skills then they should go down slightly in skill every day.

Dont need any citys in the game for that matter dont need nothing .We should learn to take care of are selfs buy learning how to live off the land and start makeing stuff  on are own.

Player made , Player ran, Skill Bace game. Full loot , no safe zones , thousands of skills to do.

Make it challenging when we do are trade skills, like playing pinball, and the higher  score we get the better the item is!

Well i hope you get what i mean ,Thats what iam looking for and so Far Darkfall comes the closest!
