It seems more than a little shady, they loose the licence then come up with something that sounds incredibly like the licence they lost.

As MMO clients go EVE has to have the smallest file size....just be thankful its not a supersize AOC client .  :-p

There's only the premium client now but you can scale the graphic options to run on a low spec system...according to the devs anyway....

Huh? COX has an in-game search function ( possibly the best search function in any mmo to date ) that tells you the exact number of players...on the current given server, the only way to be exempted from that server search is to put yourself on hide ( invisible to everyone)...which not many do.

So there is only one real way to get a good idea of the population and that is to be a player...

Using Xfire and things like that our useless for figuring out a games population.....I've seen people on these boards time and time again saying certain games are just "FAIL" because the Xfire numbers say so! and I laugh every time :p

 

Actually people will not show up in the search function if they are in a mission. Missions in CoH are instances and search only shows the people on the zone map you do the search for, not the ones on a mission map.

That's untrue there has been many a time where I've been in a mission and had a tell from someone either looking for a team or asking to join the team. Like for instance 10 minutes ago...

Edited: Here's even more proof that the search function in COX takes into account players on mission maps.

Ok it is possible to upgrade a trail account with the boxed set but according to this thread www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp  you will loose the items and benefits that come with the boxed set (unless you make a new character on the same account).

It's not a silly question, better to be safe than sorry.

From what I understand it works like this....

If you have a 21 day Steam trial you have to upgrade the trial by purchasing EVE through Steam.

If you have a player referral trial or a CCP basic trial you have to upgrade the trial by purchasing the digital download from the EVE site itself.

You cannot upgrade any of these trials by buying the  Apocrypha  retail box, if you purchase the retail box you need to create a new account.

If that doesn't work then the only other thing I can think of is that NCsoft are still having problems with the new look site, it's been causing a lot of problems of late...including billing people multiple times for the new magic pack ( according to NCsoft that issue has been fixed).

Saga of Ryzom did this several years ago, with the RyzomRing.

Yup, Ryzom ring was very popular with the Ryzom community.......at first.

SWG did something similar with  it's story teller system which was popular with that community too.......at first.

What I'm saying here is NCsoft have to much riding on the architect system.

It's a beautiful system there's no doubt about that but I think it was very wrong for them to think this is going to pull in the crowds.

I don't believe it will hold long term interest with the current player base either ( like me) ...it's just a fad that people will get bored with and farmers will abuse continually

PS.  I'm shocked NCsoft are trying to say this is the first mmo to have player made content...it's completely untrue.
