For the 1st game of an indy development team, i think it's a bit much. However i think it'll be an ok game. Only time will tell though

I did some web work on a civil war based fps mod back in the late 90s, i can tell you right now that historians, or web workers are not a part of the "team". Sure you might of gotten a few ref pics for modelers, wrote some docs, said that doesn't look right, but in the end why show the full game to you? you've probably seen the same few screen shots that i have (on the main site). I'm holding onto my breath, because i'm sure it'll be worth it.

i'm sure the "big news" that their leader was talking about will put all your fears to rest.

as for the world, the client can support models etc, and has, the reason you see no screen shots of it is a bug in the loading resources stuff, all the screen shots you've seen are from the Feb build of the game.

It seems, all news/screenshots is being held off until sykoi announces this "big news"


as for the staff, i remember reading that some of the people who work on the game actually work in teh industry and do this game in their spare time. Search around the forums, it's in there somewhere.

Lets just say there have been many indie/volunteer games that have been finished. Roma Victor comes right to mind, and I can sit here and name a few others, but alas I'm going to bed ^^

Plenty ideas are floating around indie developers that would greatly change mmorpgs as we know it. The problem is funding. Publishers are in the business for one thing… profits. SOE, EA, Vinidi they’re not going to throw a few hundred thousand at an indie or B-title team to create an mmo. Instead they’ll put a few million (ddo and lotro cost like 12million together?) into titles they know that will work and these titles will guarantee profit. WoW works, EQ worked anything similar is pretty much $$$.

 

I’ll use an mmo I’m familiar with, http://www.landatwar.com/ an indie team with a do-able game that is totally different from wow. Yet very little serious publishing offers. Why? To innovated, the team will not sell out to make it profitable (aka turn it into wow), so they have to ruff it with no monitory support thus slowing development.  This plagues many indie mmos, Rome Victor for example, they rushed their devlopment,  and the game turned out like crap. (after 5 years or so dev).

I could make a list a page long of mmos that are innovated, but sadly there is no point, 95% won't get off the ground, and very few that do won't make it onto your harddrives....

sykoi can fix it if i'm wrong, game should be HARDCORE though....
