I agree. I'm glad there is no stealth in WAR. I think stealth, as in "Pop! I'm invisible now! Haha", is totally stupid. |

1* WAR is clearly PvP-oriented but the game seems to mix PvP and PvE very well, which is the primary strength of this game. 2* AoC uses a more classical approach on how PvP and PvE work with each other. But it introduces a new kind of fighting (numpad weapon swinging, stances ...). -> I don't think the two games can actually be compared. They are made for players with totally different desires. As for my personal opinion (i was aiming to be objective above ;)). Even if I'm more interested in WAR at the moment, I'll definitely try AoC too. The weapon swinging reminds me of a FPS game I worked on a couple of years ago :) (though it used a physics engine and mouse movements for the swings) and if the swings chain smoothly, this will definitely be enjoyable :) |

What type of gameplay do you prefer?(polls)

This poll seriously needs more (or vaguer) options. Only Wow-ish choices are proposed. Too limited :p |

Eve announces 30000 concurent users - Blizz announces 1 billion $$$

and Starcraft, please :) I DON'T hate WoW, but i think the fact that some Blizzard key game designers have left the company before and during the making of WoW might have had impact on the overall quality of the game. WoW does not feel blizzardish enough, to me. I see a lot of people here saying what I quoted from RK-Mara, so i'm gonna give details : You can read this particular line for example : If you want to play an MMO true to previous Blizzard works, know that there is an alternative to WoW :) Again I don't hate WoW, i think it's an OK MMO. |

double post again, grrr!!! delete please. |

Blizzard used to make really incredible games (the Warcrafts, Starcraft, the Diablos, wow that's like 5 years of playing for me). I used to worship the company's name like many other did. How could we know WoW would not be as incredible ? Well, some might have known the "cream" had left Blizzard to create another company (ArenaNet), but I personally didn't at that time, so I tried the game. Back on topic : Like some do here, I also feel that no MMO is THAT great at the moment. I really hope MMO Game Designers will make real efforts on their upcoming games, with one word in mind : FUN ! I mean grinding is frustrating as hell, for example. Why would anybody want to put that in a G.A.M.E ? Or is this supposed to make us play the game longer to feed on our subscriptions ? oh wait... |

EDIT: oops, double post sorry. I don't see how you delete a post :S

- Open PvP certainly is enjoyable in a MMORPG (I personally couldn't agree more).
- Realm vs Realm certainly is enjoyable in a MMORPG (I personnally dislike the concept, but that's just me ok? Plus, I have never tried :p). - Capture The Flag certainly is enjoyable in a MMORPG (ok, maybe not) The thing is Mythic shouldn't just choose one of these forms of PvP for WAR, IMHO. Mixing them would be the safest way to attract the highest number of PvP-oriented players (and they certainly don't represent 5% of the MMO community as some say). Add really original and fun ideas to this mix (cf. ~ Age of Conan) and you have a really attractive PvP system that is safe for Mythic to use. Even if I don't entirely agree with the concept - it's not realistic -, Open PvP with immunities is one way to add Open PvP to any MMO : 1-> click on "activate PvP", wait 20min (to avoid abuse), ding! you can kill stuff /taunt /ouchhewastougherthanithought 2-> click on "deactivate PvP", wait 20min, ding! you are safe to do your quests /carebearkissiloveyou As an Open PvP fanboi, give me that on top of the RvR, with my PvP skill and not my equipment being the most important, and I'll probably play WAR ad vitam eternam. Others would for their own reasons. Everyone's happy. Back on the topic : I'm starviiiing... neeeed updated infooooo on the gaaaame conteeent... By the way, can anybody tell me if, as a greenskin, for instance, I will (at least sometimes) be able to fight against High Elves and Empire, or just Dwarves, in these RvRs, assuming it's exactly the same as in DAoC ? (which I don't know at all, and the answer is not that easy to find :S) Thanks in advance. |

I don't think lore or graphics are the only things one should care about when talking about a MMO.
There are a lot of heroic fantasy games with elfes, dwarwes and similar stuff. But that's actually what the gamers want (need?) to see in a medieval fantasy game. (wait... there are no elves in Guild Wars... but there are dwarves... hehe ;)) I am quite sure WAR won't have the same look'n'feel as WoW at all, even though they are both remotely based on Tolkien's work. But what I'm even more sure is that those two games will be dramatically different in terms of game experience. (sorry for the poor english (if it is, i don't know ^^)) |
