Can you post a link please?

What eyelolled meant I think is that since we are going to have less liberty in the skills we can choose (half of them being determined by your profession and the weapon you're wielding), there will be fewer combinations and it should make balancing the game a bit easier.
On top of this, I personally think there won't be as many skills in GW2 overall (~1300 skills in GW1 was a lot).

Ah I didn't realize you were talking about GW2. Yes, let's hope you're right.

Why they would choose to make the PvE and PvP versions of a skill so different is beyond me. Aegis, for instance, is ridiculous now.
They should have just forbidden certain skills in PvP and created new skills when necessary. This PvE/PvP split is just cheap and nonsensical.
I certainly hope they don't do this kind of shit with GW2.

I think that the new way of selecting skills is to limit the balancing issues with such diversity.

I understand that. What I'm saying is when the PvP version of a skill does something completely different than what it used to do, it just becomes ridiculous.
If it does something completely new and the PvE version remains untouched, then it should be a new skill and the old skill should just be disallowed in PvP. Those extreme splits are cheap and unnatural.

The game had a great GvG scene for years. And now, everybody can agree that the scene sucks. I wouldn't go as far as say that the "recent" introduction of splits made it worse, but still this shows they were probably never necessary.

The real time skill training part.
I really don't like that it favors those who started playing in 2003 and that there is no way to catch up. Lots of Eve players say this is silly to complain about this, but that's just how it is for me.

However, even though I'm not playing, I've still been paying a monthly sub and only training skills (no undock) for about 3 years now, as a reward to CCP for providing the gaming community with this great samdbox and also in case I ever play it again.

ArenaNet implemented a LOT of mini-games in the original Guild Wars. And they were really nice too.

I'm sure mini-games in GW2 will be very cool too.

Don't buy MMO discs on eBay... Discs are useless. MMOs are played with an account, like the vast majority of online-oriented games...

I guess it's your turn to sell the box now. Pass it on to another dumb guy, don't break the chain now!

Why can't it remain "increase on use" but with a limit on the increase, for example not more than X increases an hour or something?
They're going for the easy solution here once again. How lazy can they be?

The original idea behind MO was good but, as someone else put it, since then it has just been a big fiasco. Worst game dev team ever.

Even though the raid content in WoW was interesting and fun, I stopped because of the low amount of loot compared to the amount of time spent in those raids.
And that actually goes for PvE in general.

Things just take too much time in PvE.
I know this is a vague statement but that's how I feel. It's like, unlike PvPers, PvEers are supposed to have more patience and more time to waste. I don't subscribe to that.

If you want me to consider PvE, then reward me more.
For example, a 4-hour raid should not give me a 30% chance of getting a new item. Probability should be more like 150%.

Ya i do not understand why games make their world so empty, even if they can't afford to make new content, just litter the emptiness with mobs you already made.Darkfall did the same thing,i could walk for an hour and see nothing,i just shake my head and think of laziness.

My guess is it's intentional since the players are supposed to fill the blanks with their cities and the like.

In the case of SV and MO, it is definitely NOT intentional.

About a year ago, when SV was asked why the world was so small (community was expecting more space), they replied they'd rather have a small rich world, than a big empty one.

I've seen a lot of MO fans say they don't care about the bugs because "bugs will always be fixed at some point".

The thing is that's just not true. In the case of latency/desync for example, it's probably due to a bad software architecture design and it just might never get solved. Or if it is, it could mean some features might get removed (or at least altered for the worse).

You'll buy the game and subscribe for 6 months? Good job, you will be paying for maybe a quarter of an hour of extra work on the game...

Thanks for the tip, OP!

It's always been like that so far with Mortal Online.
"Feature XXX is only temporary. Don't worry, just wait for the real thing!"

Sad truth is the real thing is never coming.
Nothing big has really changed or improved since combat beta (was the invite-only phase before beta block A) which was actually more of a really really early alpha.

It's a certainty now that the game will be released broken and extremely imcomplete.

I used to be a hopeful fanboy, irc/voice chatting with devs very frequently, but there is a point where the facts are right in front of you and holding onto faith just becomes sad and ridiculous.

Great Article.

Levels are a system that was invented to ease character progression in pen & paper RPGs. You would only need to calculate and update your new stats when you reached the next level.

Computers can easily compute any complexity of character progression on the fly, which means they are an obsolete concept for video games.

My opinion is:

Generally speaking, it tried to do stuff that other games did better.

Mortal Online is not in the list

Eve Online
I just find the game very beautiful. There are not many objects but some are really really well-done. The details are stunning at times.

Guild Wars
The artists are really god-like, and the graphics quality the devs managed to provide with such a lightweight engine are something to be proud of.

About Age of Conan: I think it's really overrated. Artistically I give it a 1/10.
