I guess maybe I'm just sadistic and insane, but that's one of my favorite missions of the entire game.  It's nothing really new,  I can think of many games where you kill "innocent" people. Grand Theft Auto 4 sticks out like a sore thumb,  I used to just run around and kill everyone until I died (almost never got arrested, "Not gonna take me alive coppa!" lol).  Like I said, maybe I'm just wierd like that, but I think there's a huge difference between fantasy and real life.

I think the main reason I love the PvE is that it isn't a bunch of button mashing like in other games. Some might say that combat is slow, but I like it the way it is.  Unlike in WoW (on my rogue mainly), where you mashed like 100 buttons a minute lol, in Lotro you actually have time to watch the fight progress.

I like my Minsrel the most for solo.  Mainly because later in the game, everyone loves a Minstrel in thier raid.  The fact that Minstrels can use instruments is a big bonus as I'm also a musician irl :)

It's a very nice idea, something new.  Really the only complaint anyone could ever have about it is that Freeps (normal characters) are way overpowered until you get your Mob to level 8+.  Warg packs are still pretty fun to do, and I like the Spider the most.  It's been...awhile...and not very much has been added to PvMP.  You can only capture the same areas so many times before it gets boring.

I like the speed of combat in Lotro.  It's not too fast, like WoW (my destro lock kills level 83 elites before they even reach him!), and not to slow, like FFXI.  My only problem I ever had with lotro was pvmp.

they should remove rangers, but not trolls.  In fact, they should add several other "elites" that you can use for monster play.  Monsters need all the help they can get in PvMP.  Ringwraith should be added :)

There's only 2 games that I can play over and over, and never get bored of them.  FFXI (well almost any of the final fantasy games hehe) and DAoC. I think the majority reason for WoW's popularity is that Blizzard has done the best job I've ever seen in advertising thier game. I've only ever seen one other MMO with a commercial in primetime.  That's also why the majority of people compare any game to WoW.  You always compare everything to your first.  I compare everything to DAoC (gameplay-wise).  DAoC was the first 3d mmo that I really played alot of.

I still stop in off and on, I have the founders lifetime sub :).  I play a couple of days on my spider, then end up leaving.  I absolutely love everything about this game, except that monster play is worthless. My spider (which I spent 5000x more time on than any freep I have) is still way underpowered, and my warg (which I spent maybe 1000x more time than any freep) can only solo a noob with no gear or skill.  Any freep with half a brain and decent gear can own 1-5 monsters.  My second beef about monster play is that you can only capture and do the quests on one map so many times before it makes you sick.  I would definitely come back and stay if they fixed monster play.  It's fun in low doses, but I'm an addict lol.

I still say monsters should be able to raid middle earth if they capture all the keeps :)

reminds me of playing WHM on FFXI.  I'd walk into a zone and get 5 tells for a raise.  When I get there, they're all gone lol.  I was at least passing through, and they were on my way to where I was going :)

Hopefully they can get by all the bad press they've recieveed by both players and critics. This game truly has potential, it was just released too early, with no end game. This won't do much though, I don't think.

Ask Vanguard. Dark & Light. Star Wars Galaxies.

You don't recover from a bad launch. MMO rule #1

That's not entirely true. I remember buying WoW the first copy at my local best buy.  I got home, bam huge update. Got to play for about 30 minutes, server crash.  Log back in, about 15 minutes earlier, 1000+ queue lol.  Then again, it seems that WoW is the exception to every rule.  I think the only thing wrong with AoC is that they released it way to early, to go up against WAR (mythic did the same thing).

Cat isn't a reskinning by any means.  They're making it so you can level a new character 1-60 so that you don't have to do the same old boring quests.  Well actually it's like 10ish-60 since the lowest changed zones are Barrens and Darkshore.  I don't think they need a new class, however I would love to see one, since I've leveled every class available now to 80 hehe.  I might make another character when Cat comes out just to go through the changed storyline.  Another thing I heard (not from Blizzard) was that they're trying to do away with the whole "This is primarily an Alliance zone, this is primarily a Horde zone" concept.  Making quests available to both factions in the redone zones.  So you could be Horde and run upto Darkshore if you want.  You could be Alliance and do quests in the Barrens other than Ratchet.

The new generation of MMORPGs (if you want to call them that) are really nothing more than single player RPGs that you play online, with little or no interatction with anyone else.  During my time in WoW, AoC, War, Eve, etc. I hardly ever talked to anyone outside my guild or friend list.  Likewise, noone ever talked to me.  In the old days of UO, DAoC, and EQ1, everyone talked to everyone.  You used to find yourself doing a quest or camping monsters with other people, and you would ask them (or they ask you) to group up to get better exp.  Now if you ask someone to group that's doing the same quest in WoW, for example, you get some smart a$$, Battle.net-like, remark that I can't say here or I'd be banned hehe.

good list. However, I'd rather play a DAoC 2 than a UO 2.  I know it sounds blasphemistic (is that even a word lol?), but I could only ever get that "Keep Burning", "Tree-huggin hibbie slaughtering", "CC is OP!" rush from one game, DAoC.  No other game has even come close.  I'm more suprised that someone hasn't come out with another 3 realm pvp game.  Everyone always seems to only do two...and as the list says, it just doesn't work out well.

Don't get my wrong, I loved UO.  Perhaps a UO - DAoC mix, with the sandboxiness (another made up word lol) of UO with the 3 realm mass combat of DAoC...uh oh, I think I just wet my self!

I'd say they'll have it out at least by october/november of 2010, just in time for christmas :)

I remember in FFX that Kihmari Ronso was listed as a "Lancer" and he was a mix of the dragoon (jumps but no wyvern) and a blue mage (used Lancet ability to try and steal enemy abilities).  I hope they do something along these lines.  Kihmari Ronso is one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters of all time. So much, I got all possible abilities from Lancet, and his sphere grid maxed :D

I resubbed back to DAoC once I heard they merged all the servers together.  We had a huge Midgard raid earlier :)

P.S. DIE TREEHUGGIN HIBBIES!

Sounds like you described Final Fantasy XI. It's about 90% all grouped, and no lame quest grinding.

good guide, I have 2 80 druids, feral and tree (I wish blizz had come out with dual spec sooner!) they are the best out of all my characters (most fun too).  The only difference is when I leveled my second druid (leveled in feral, then switched to tree later) I did not bother with any grouping at all, no instances, group quests, etc. Other than that, I did pretty much what you said on my second druid :)

P.S. Droooooo!

There is only one real PvE MMO, that's Final Fantasy XI.  All others are just single player rpgs that you play along side other players, nothing multiplayer about them.  That's why FFXI is my favorite MMO for PvE.  DAoC is best PvP MMO, since you really had to group up to do very well in PvP (yay massive 100man+ raids). Other than the weekly raid in WoW, you never have to group in any other "MMO".

calling games like WoW and LotRO massively MULTIPLAYER is like calling a Ford Escape a SPORT utility vehicle.  They're not multiplayer, just like there are no SUVs, except the Hummer H1

I don't know where they got all these numbers, but my computer is liquid cooled.  Right now I'm running at CPU temperature of 58 degrees F and GPU of 66 degrees F with dual 295s.  Of course my liquid cooling helps cooldown both of them further than the built in heat sinks and cooling systems.

I've only ever had 1 computer with ATI video cards and I'll never do it again.  They burned up in about 6 months
