I knew about the exploit and even how to do it...the thing is, I have this little thing called honor.  I don't want to debase myself by cheating in games...I know it's hard to believe but a lot of players just rush to get ahead by any means possible and miss the entire point of MMOs.  MMOs and life are similar in many ways.  If you rush and cheat your way to a lot of money, it'll eventually catch up to you.  They'll both end up being no fun, and in life mainly because you're in prison lol.  What people should learn is if you took all that time and effort you put into cheating, you could've made a very nice, legitimate way of life.

Edit: Perhaps Cryptic fixed the bug back in closed beta, but in a future patch they bug fix was left out since that patch was worked off an older version or something...There's a reason why in every single game you play there are bugs that come and go, it doesn't necessarily mean the developers are lying...

Watch all the haters...not one of them will hate on the exploiters...

I don't see what the big deal is, it's been fixed.  It's like if people were still crying about the Rupee bug in Ocarina of Time...it's still there to this day since N64 games couldn't be updated...it was fixed in the 3DS version though hehe.

Anyways, if you asked people their favorite MMO of all time, they'd almost all be older MMOs since they didn't have instant gratification.  The newer players have no clue what a real MMO is (or was).

I've seen more posts like this one in the last few months.  Evidently people are new to MMOs or something.  Anyone who knows anything about MMOs knows that you can't make an informed opinion without making at least halfway through the levels in just about any MMO.

I guess he wasn't expecting people to use swords and magic...maybe he wanted them to use machine guns and nukes...that's real D&D isn't it? lol

Also, if people exploit they arent going to do it on their main account. As seen with Neverwinter people will exploit on one account, pass the gains to a dummy account, pass again to another account then finally pass to their main account.

That may sound like a lot of work but the pay off was hundreds of millions or even billions of Diamonds that they wont lose.

Bans wont deter exploiters and cheaters in Free to play MMOs because the only thing they will lose is time. Being banned from an MMO that cost $60 with a $15 subscription would actually hurt.

it's not that hard to track down dummy accounts...they have logs of mail, so you mail them to another account, and another, and another, then finally your main...they'll know it and ban all of them... Just like an IP mask, there are ways around that as well.

So you are comparing something that is not really a game (a modeler where you can rotate your character) to an actual game and saying it proves graphics mean nothing to players?  That means nothing.

 

Everquest didn't have bad graphics for its time.  I care about graphics, a lot of "real gamers" care about graphics, and you don't have to have a super computer to run an MMO with good graphics.

 

All that said I think for an MMO designed to be F2P it looks fine.  If people still pay for cosmetics in a game like WoW I'm sure they will in Wildstar as well.  I don't see how it will really hurt them financially, and if you aren't paying then you shouldn't expect some fancy graphics engine.

 

For me the gameplay is not revolutionary enough to make me ignore my personal distaste in the graphics/atmosphere their choice of animations/art style.  I like the general setting of the game, but would prefer it were a different style.  They also have some neat ideas, but once I grow tired of building a fort in match PvP (13 assassins style, which admitted does sound awesome), I'm still in a world I do not enjoy.  Other MMO's offer gameplay I like, and more fit my style.

 

It matters it just is a matter of personal opinion whether someone can either get past it or not, and some prefer their "toons" to look like actual "toons" and not some artsy, highly detailed, realistic character.

One of my favorite not MMO or RPG games is Sins of a Solar Empire.  You can get the original and 2 packs for $19.99, and the newer expansion, Rebellion, is $39.99.  I'm sure you can find the original for really cheap.  One of the best games I ever played.

I haven't played it in awhile but Supreme Commander and Supreme Commander 2 were also great games, you can probably get the cheap somewhere.  i really loved how you could zoom all the way out to see the enitre map and show everyone's units and stuff, or zoom all the way in
