On paper sounds like the best crafting I ve seen in an MMO. Really looking forward to this game.

Really? Have you seen what The Repopulation has for crafting? THAT is a crafting system to get excited about. TES crafting looks like the same old, boring, " click generic ingot, click generic sharpening stone, click generic gem " combine system every MMO has.

I agree completely.  I really don't see how this crafting system is all that different from other MMO's.

Better than the last, but still, you ruin the comic by explaining it at the end.  If people cannot figure the comic out on their own, the comic is not well done.
If you have to include an explanation with your comic, it's a bad comic.
Firstly, I don't understand how mmorpg.com lets you guys write without a spellchecker.  Secondly, this game is not the mmorpg you think it's going to be.  Oh, it will be a great game, but strictly speaking (and this has been highly debated on the forums) it is not an mmorpg, which is not to say that it doesn't have SOME mmorpg elements.

There's not much else better to play, ergo they have more than enough time on their hands to repeat how much they dislike SWTOR.

One does have to admit, however, that the game was significantly over-hyped.  I'm still playing it and I find myself occasionally feeling a little disappointed.  In my humble opinion, I think people feel cheated and ripped-off - they expected a lot more than they received.  Honestly, I think they deserved at least a little bit more from Bioware.  That is: I don't believe that the people who feel this way are totally out of line.

That said, I'm also not here to bash on the game because, like I said, I'm still playing it.

PVE has been dumbed down and made even easier than WoW

This by the way is complete bullshit.  The last (real) expansion took the longest time of any expansion in EQ2 to get completely cleared and the latest (real) expansion (DoV) still has not been cleared by any guild worldwide despite having been released more than a year ago.  And this (the difficulty part) is true not only for raid content, but for heroic (single-group) content, questing and even collections.

The game has been tweaked so there is more available content for the more casual players that is "easier", but this has also allowed the developers to increase the amounst of more difficult content.

There are lots of serious issues with the last year of EQ2's content, but "lack of difficulty" is certainly not one of them.

Hasn't been cleared cause very few players are actually playing EQ2 anymore. Put the same dungeons in WoW and they'd be cleared in a day.

It's true that WoW has a singificantly larger playerbase, but none of the current (i.e. last expansion) raid content in EQ2 is PUG-able, whereas in WoW it is.  The guild I played in when DoV was released had no problem fielding a full raid, but was still unable to take out the first boss in the easiest raid zone over the course of several nights - though admittedly we weren't a very skilled guild.  My point being: the EQ2 current content is actually difficult, whether or not anybody is playing the game.

I like the idea of this game, but after playing I wasn't incredibly impressed.

While I admit only playing for a couple of hours, the game felt a bit stale.  The music was nice, but the quests were typical.  I didn't feel like the combat really required any strategy (and I wish that it did feel that way).  The energy system is terrible and licks of Vindictus' token system except you get hit with a lack of energy much earlier; I ran out of it at level 5 and simply decided to go play something else and never come back.

Also, 7.6 overall is generous, and 7.5 for innovation is ridiculous.  I will say that the game should have received a higher social rating though.  In the few hours that I played, chat was very active, friendly, and helpful.

I still have to look at NPCs without eyeballs in cutscenes.  Why the hell would I want an expansion over bug fixes?

The Nexon IPO immediate slipped and faltered.  If anything I'd say this shows that investors do not have a ton of confidence in the company.  If they don't drop a big bomb AAA title that can actually compete, I don't think you will see them getting continued support.

In other words, they have one shot and that shot needs to be the next big title.

Sorry, but that was a failed review.  You failed to mention the horrendous design of the UI?  Shame such a great game is taken down a couple pegs by the failure of Bethesda to modifiy the UI for the PC.  That is a major issue far as I am concerned.  Yes people will eventually make mods to fix this oversight, but it does effect initial gameplay a lot.

This is almost a troll post, which is slightly upsetting because I usually agree with your comments, Ozmodan.

Coyote does mention that the UI is cumbersome and I agree.  That said, it's not game-breaking, which is not to say that Bethesda couldn't stand to do a better job.  Anyways, even if Coyote had failed to mention it, his review was still far from failed.  It was clearly meant to be more humerous that a super-serious-let's-talk-about-every-little-aspect-of-the-game review.

I laughed.  I enjoyed this review.

Did anyone mention the layoff's at blizzard, which recently included a ton of people that were at blizzcon as well as a few Titan staff members.

It's the flood of free to play games that finally poped our little mmo gaming bubble and only the strong subscription games will survive the free to play games are going to quickly lose funding, those that are not already out and financially a success will fail to launch.

in the end it looks like we might get what we want after all, better games and the death of the free (dime it) model.

"There are layoffs in all sectors of gaming, mobile, casual, console, and online."

It's every game type that's being affected and it's due to the collapse of the economy not because of their model. F2P games are here to stay and here's why, if their ip is popular enough, they will receive the most money from more sources because people who like those games will be buying the things they want, and will be playing more F2P games because they like diversity rather then being stuck in the overgrinded time gobbling Sub only models.

The game changer will come with the launch of GW2. That game and it's devs are going to change the industry.

F2P is not evil, it's not terrible when done correctly, and it's definitely not going anywhere, so buckle up and get used to it.

The diversity due to the sheer number of FTP games could also end up being a potential weakness.  People might spend a few bucks on your game and then never come back simply because they found something else to play and weren't offered gameplay worth staying for.

He forgot AA's (Alternative Advancement) why does everyone forget this

Two popular games have this, one of them is RIFT the newest "big name" mmo.  So, it's not really a forgotten feature.  Now if no other game does this in the next few years, or adds it, then I will agree that it needs to be added to  a "forgotten" list.

I agree with the OP.  In general, this is often forgotten.  Rift put it in a little too late and the only other game that comes to mind is EQ.  When you mention AA to most people, they have no idea what you're talking about.

I really do think it should be on a forgotten list and I believe that it would increase end-game longevity, particularly for casual players who cannot devote 3 or 4 hours a night to raid.

Eve is beyond repair in 0.0. Might as well focus on hi-sec and factional warfare and add more WH options for newer players.

Claiming planets (PI) to include more planetary development options besides mineral extraction.

Better automation of PI including direct sale from the planet.

Ability to scan sites and lock the jumpgate so you can post to the market place the bookmark for sale (with the key) would make probing viable for new players where they may not be able to complete a plex but can make money finding them.

Automated system-wide defense option (Drone bays, turrets in belts, etc.) which serve to deter invaders but also serve as potential targets for raiders\pirates for scrape and salvage.

Automate the probing system. It was cute for about a week but the process is so standard now most just use macro tools. Just make it take X amount of time based on their skills. It isn't a matter of skill anymore, just time. Hell we here in the 21st century have automatic triangulation as it is, why wouldn't it be automated in the Eve universe.

Get people in rental ships for Factional Warfare in an instance-like circumstance. Get people flying ships, temporarily, that they may never get a chance to. e.g. Fly this ship (remote repper) and keep the fleet alive in an NPC on NPC fight. You get X isk for each ship that survives type missions.

Mining Arrays, get rid of mining as it is. Too tedious. Convert mining barges and exhumers into automated platforms (mining arrays) that you deploy. Fill it with fuel and it mines on it's own. 3/4th of all those miners are already bots anyway. Seriously, just fucking get rid of the system as it stands. I'd rather have an automated hulk that I have to protect from rats and pirates constantly then stare at a rock for 4 hours with nothing but the occasional rat wave. Add the option of  having the ORE corp run NC mining ops that you have to protect while it goes about it's business. "Rent-a-Op" if you would. The Rats should be damn near endless during a mining operation, get some action into hi-sec mining. Park your automated barges, get in your defensive ship (I would assume minig arrays have some basic defenses so you can dock and get some more ammo and what not.)  Then you only have to deal with hauling. Buff the mining barges, exhumers, and the orca a bit more in their new role as mining arrays. They are still vulnerable just not suicide gankable by a pair of ships in high-sec. Reduce costs of the arrays such that 24 hours of mining in the next ship size down covers the cost of the next ship size up. Add a skill Mining Array managment that allows you to control 1,2,3,4,5 mining arrays at once and another skill Array Optimization that adds an addition 1,3,5,7,9 arrays. Then it is just a matter of fueling the arrays and pickup. In short they are giant secure cargo containers that also happen to mine when loaded with mining drones.

I see a Defense platform, Mining Array combo

Both are handled basically like ships but can be anchored and password protected. Once they begin mining the Rats come like plague. A single fuel session should take about 30 minutes. Almost a mini-POS experience that helps new players understand how the full sized POS experience plays out.

It is fixable, the problem is they only care about that 1% of players.

Best ideas yet.

Yes.

I'd also like to see them hyping their own game some more.  Advertising, anyone?

I can appreciate the fact that us gamers don't want our games ruined by having over-powered advantages going to those who pay more, but we need to keep in mind that these games aren't free to make.  A developer has to pull a profit somehow and, as such - and in my opinion - we need to be more open to potential pricing and income schemes.

Would also love a beta key PM please.

Will post my extras.

Thanks!
