That is exactly how I feel. Have not we had enough of the same old raid treadmill.

Combat is what I expected. I am more interested in story and exploration with my friends.

No open beta is no big deal as if I want to play a game I have no issue paying and open betas are little more than an early start.

Looking forward to this and ToR. Two different flavors for my amusement.

The class story lines will be nice but have no desire to do the raid treadmill but may try the 8mans.

I am not aware of anything that could compare to DAoC RvR. That was a truly great game for its time minus the botters.

ToR by far so far I am just not into GW2.

Was not really disappointed. Still looking forward to the game the comabt seemed to be the standard mmo style.

Looking forward to the game I have put more time into Oblivion than some mmos I have tried.

If the Jedi could sense everything it would be a very short conflict.

Does not sound too bad as long as there are significant control measures in to deal with griefers and the roaming bands of gankers. Trusting a community to police itself is to me a little foolish. Relying on other people to do the right thing and act with some civility is delusional in the real world why would it work online?

End game not much of an issue for me as I would rather just reroll than get on another raid treadmill.

I loved tanking in every mmo I have played up until WoW cata. In lich king I even leveled 2 warriors and 1 paladin from 1-80 in prot spec. Does it matter if my dps friends could kill faster? Not to me I was having fun enjoying my classes and that is what the game is about. Unfortunately the guild convinced me to try raiding again and even though successful the game started to feel more like a job and I left WoW and will never raid again in any game as I still feel raiding in the death of community. Tanking is really fun when you can keep a group of your friends alive but my motto always was if dpsers talk crap or refuse to watch their aggro you don't taunt off of one of them and let them die to give them a learning experience.

Honestly for me, its about exploring the world via quests or other reasons, harvesting, fishing, boats, or whatever while having my character progress in a well paced fashion and having combat be fast, fun and grow more complex as I "level" up.  I need to have awesome sound and music for immersion factors as well as TONS of gameplay choices that range from questing to collecting to building and so on.   I prefer to do this solo while occasionally having to rely on others for dungeons or crafting needs.

Err ... this is extreme b.s. Females have naturally a little bit less body strength, yes, because testosterone builds strength, and men have naturally more testosterone and therefore more muscle power. But women have other bodily advantages, such as the better immune system. It matters when it comes to sports, but you dont need to be a top athlete to be a good soldier.

It's got everything to do with the simple fact that in high school and such most boys often play more intensive sports while most girls don't. (please don't interpret this as girls do less sports then boys..... real life isn't simple like that)

I totally agree that females could pass those tests. They've certainly got the potential. But potential doesn't make it so. We simply live in a culture where the military and a large amount of sports (football, rugby etc.) are seen as male things. This has nothing to do with males being somehow superior at those things when compared to females (some males will be better then some females while other females will be better then other males). Or even some sort of alpha male instinct rearing it's head causing all men to drool excessively and compete whenever possible.

It's simply the culture we live in that's shaped over decades for at the time logical reasons that are by now more often then not no longer relevant or even true (if they were in the first place).

I call b.s on that women could pass the SAME physical tests as men. During my time in the military and in law enforcement women had lower physical test. Which is sexist. If they can pass the exact same test then they should be more than welcome to any unit but enough of the special woman standard. I have only met a handful of women that could possibly pass the same test though with the kids coming out of high school now I think they wouldbe lucky to pass the female physical test. In regards to women being healers in MMos the vast majoirty of healers I have met have all been female who also had dps alts. I don't know if it is because they were women or the fact that all 7 were nurses.

 I agree with the Op the open  pvp could doom this game to being niche. Unfortunately for real Pvpers the minority of basement warriors who enjoying griefing have soured many people on pvp. UO pre trammel at least for me was not that gank heavy. That being said I think with the MMO crowd of today it is doomed to be niche if they maintain their current path. Too many people who empty lives whose only enjoyment comes in the misery of others something akin to lifers in prison have ruined the reputation of real pvpers.

I am still not sure what it is about GW2 people like. I think I may need to do some more research on the game but if it has anything resemblance to GW I don't think I could play it.

My wife and I triued it  some time ago and had a great time. After they merged to one server for some reason my wife was around 7fps so we left.

You forgot the I am not going to play just show me the results choice.

I kind of agree with Venger and Warzod. IMO the biggest problem with the mmo communities behavior is that even in RL most people are oxygen with no purpose other than to be a parasite upon society. and steal oxygen.
