i think you made that up....

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. But just in case you are not, it is true.  Here is an old link for it.

Actually, they have promised a revamp of the character models and all clothes for years, thats why the races from the last expansions looks better, because they have it done already. they showed a revamped human in Leipzig 2 years ago and say that it is in work but they have been working on it for 3 years now so Im not sure they ever do it.

The rest they wont and they wont get an uppgrade for multicores either but they might include some new features from new GFX cards.

But its sad that they dont uses lightning, shadows and fog better, the game looks ok but just a litle work and it could looks awesome.

The test server notes has a section with multicore support, so I think you are wrong that we will never see a upgrade for multicores :)

Saw also a note on that the bug that made shadow dissepair after a while is beeing worked on.

I will agree on that we will probably never see any major upgrade to the system, but they are working on pushing the current game further. Both in content and performance. Personally I think major upgrades is just troubles anyway, better with many small ones.

I do play Order side, mostly because a friend always plays a dwarf. But, the whole discussion reminds me of a episode of The Noob:

1. More players/ more ad money

2. Instancing and zoning.

I dont have any performance problems with either game.  I find the quest systems basically the same along with combat etc.

So for those that have played Vanguard &EQ2 in the last 5 months: what does eq2 have over vanguard?

Everquest 2 is so much better compared to Vanguard in every sense of the word. And I mean every sense of the word (and yes...I played it recently...I have it on my station pass).

  1. Graphics. Even though EQ2 was made two years before Vanguard, EQ2 has a better utlization of their graphics. For example, your character in EQ2 actually looks like it want to kill the mobs. The characters in vanguard look like it just smoked an entire bong before he ventured off into the wild. They dont make eye contact, they run too fake, etc.
  2. The coding is better in Everquest 2. While it sucks that EQ2 can only run off of a single processor you don't have as many performance issues as you do with Vanguard.
  3. A better community. Everquest 2 is still much larger than Vanguard. When I sell things in Eevrquest 2 I wont have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to sell all my wares. Usually in 24 hours its all gone.
  4. Crafting. Everquest 2 has a much more better crafting utlization. I love crafting in EQ2. Its fun and the end epic crafts are a blast. Vanguard ...well, I cannot stand crafting in Vanguard. At all.
  5. A much more livelier world in Everquest 2. Some of it can get repitious but EQ2 world feels alive. To me, Vanguard's feels a little too fabricated.
  6. Better quests in Everquest 2

Ive been a volunteer Guide/Live quest giver for both Vanguard and Everquest 2 so I have many years of experience as that for EQ2 and one year for Vanguard. To me, Vanguard cannot even compare against EQ2.

Now, I wouldn't say EQ2 is the best MMO in the world, but Vanguard, IMO, cannot touch it.

There is a multicore patch on the test server right now.

I am going to pretend that you are being legitimate and answer.  A warcamp will be located in the RVR areas of the tier maps.  It will look like a camp and there will be an NPC with the title Flight Master there.  He will fly you to other locations for a small fee.

If you do follow the quest line, you will end up at your first warcamp when you are around level 4-7.

Frankly the title of this thread is quite misleading. Maybe state the game as failure in europe but not a blanket failure like he states. People in north america hasn't had a single issues and again since they are located 1000's miles from you cut them some slack. I hope one day some local european company can produce a good mmo for you but until than learn to be little bit patient.

Hmm I thought Games Workshop were based in England?

It was founded in London (1975) atleast. What about now, I don't know.

Hey and welcome :)

1) To me the future of EQ2 is good. It is past its early start troubles and has been maturing quite good the last 2 years. What we will see in EQ2 is just more content, new stuff, and some tweaking of the existing. The graphics in the game is also good to be a 3+ years old game, and will last a good while more.

I would say this game is a safe bet if you want to play mmos.

2) If you have the patcher installed on your gaming rig. The patcher will download all available content and install it before you log in. What it download is based on what the station account is flagged for.

First, you should go back to the store and get a new copy/key. It's the store that are responsable that the cd-key is working.

If that isn't working, you can contact SoE and hope that CS can help you. But, you should then also tell them where you bought it.

So, should we trust you on your one-sided story?

What if you just left out that you actual did exploit some, and that resulted in that you lost all of your guild gold and city? Not saying that you did, but I have no way to knowing that, and its clear that someone bitchring about loosing the guild's gold like that, would never admit that they exploited. Take this up in the correct supply chain, i.e. send mail to Funcom, not whining on a 3rd party forum. I actual trust Funcom on these things. They got probably logs of all the action we do ingame.

If they unban you because it was a wrong doing, then I can feel a bit sorry for you, but if they do you would probably get the stuff back, and no harms done. I do also agrees on Funcom's policy that they freeze the accounts as fast as possible. If they don't, the exploited gold can be too far gone into the game that they can never track and purge it.

Both are good games.

EQ2 is 3+ years, so it don't have the same graphics. But, the graphics is still nice and don't pull EQ2 down for me. EQ2 has also 4 expansion packs under its wing. This means that AoC cannot compete with EQ2 on content aspect.

AoC on the other hand is new and fresh, and has alot promising aspect of the end game. Player cities, sieges, pvp minigames, etc., which EQ2 doesn't have.

What to choose? That's up to you. I would try both, since both are worth the price and monthly fees. Personally I plan to continully play both games at the same time.

I liked the troubadour better then the dirge. Not sure why.

I found the mystic a bit more fun playing than the Defiler.

Troubadour are buffing mages, while dirge buffs melee. As someone above said.

Disagrees. MMO definition isn't about instance or not like that. To me a mmo is more of being part of a persistent world, with high number different players interacting with each other. And has nothing to with instances.

Reference to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MMORPG
"As in all RPGs, players assume the role of a fictional character and take control over many of that character's actions. MMORPGs are distinguished from single-player or small multi-player CRPGs by the number of players, and by the game's persistent world, usually hosted by the game's publisher, which continues to exist and evolve while the player is away from the game."

Reference to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Persistent_world
"A persistent world (PW) is a virtual world that continues to exist even after a user exits the world and that user-made changes to its state are, to some extent, permanent. The term is frequently used in the definition of the massively multiplayer online video games and can be considered synonymous with that class of games."

To the other poster, I'm not saying Funcom lists out precisely what to do, just mentioning that "exploiting the vendor position bug is a bannable offense" would make it clear cut what is not legitimate. I do know certain games that will not punish usage of game mechanics which were buggy, until they announce clearly that its an exploit, hence my concern here. The reason behind that company's action is: they are developers, they created the bugs, they fix them, its their responsibility not the players.

[...snip...]

Why should they announce the exploit? So that even more players that didn't know about would exploit it? And give Funcom even more work?

Why should they state that that "exploiting the vendor position bug is bannable offense" when they have already stated that exploiting in general is bannable?

About exploits...
Greetings all Hyborian adventures,

Launching a game like Age of Conan is always a very interesting experience. Seeing how the players endorsing the game and giving it life in a new way is thrilling and exciting. Unfortunately, there is one thing which is always a big challenge when shipping an MMO, and that's what we want to address today. You know it as exploits, we know it as “destroying the game balance”. Today I therefore wanted to update the community on what Funcom is doing in regards to addressing and removing exploit as fast as possible.

As you know MMO games are huge, and catching exploits before they reach our live servers is always a challenge. Sometimes they slip through our systems. We deem it extremely important to address these issues immediately, but sometimes players are able to take advantage of exploits before we are able to publish fixes. This is especially true if the fix is considered a high risk, for instance where the fix introduces new bugs, and thereby risking “breaking” the game. If we rush out new versions to fix something, it can potentially make the situation a lot worse, and we naturally want to avoid that by all means.

Seeing we are not able to instantly fix, or even know about, all exploits, it is imperative to let you know that exploiting in Age of Conan is a violation to the EULA, and something we take seriously. If the offense is grave we will not hesitate to ban players, and even entire guilds. We have a dedicated team analyzing all the data from the game, and when anomalies occur we will react. We have and will continue to have a ZERO tolerance to exploiters. This may sound harsh, but it is essential to maintain the balance in the game.

We believe our community does not want cheaters in the game, but there are of course exceptions. We need your aid on finding those exceptions!
Seeing we have just launched we are now prone to find issues we did not discover during Beta. Over the last few days we have therefore found guilds and players who systematically use exploits to get benefits or to reach higher levels in the game. This is unacceptable, and whenever we get reports, information or discover such behavior we will do our uttermost to address this.

As a part of discovering players who have exploited the game on purpose we often hear the exploiters excuse their behavior by saying they thought it was “working as intended”. We are normally able to see through this, and we would like players to think twice and rather ask should they discover things which are “too good to be true”.

As a result of the focus on catching exploiters, and finding the bugs which trigger them, we are working on improving our test server. This is where we test all versions prior to sending them out on the live servers.
We are now working on establishing a test community on this essential server, which will be open for everyone who wants to test new versions before they go out to the public. We will release more information on this shortly.

Still, even though we apply the best testing routines we can, there may be issues we did not discover. Therefore please be vigilant, and aid us in making Conan as exploit free as it can by asking or reporting. If you think you found an exploit or have any questions regarding this topic, report it by using /petition or send us an e-mail at exploit@ageofconan.com. We appreciate any feedback we can get on this.
Remember, it's not against our EULA to report exploits or to ask questions!

All doom and gloom aside, for almost everyone playing Age of Conan this is not an issue, and most seem to just want to play the game as we intended it. I therefore hope everyone will have a great experience playing, but, don’t cheat, and respect the need to have a balanced game.

Mathis

Show me the rules that says that you can be penalized for a game bug. Because if there is such a rule.... I'm pretty sure that at least half of the population of AoC should be gone because I'm pretty sure that at least half the population has encounter some bug.  From a random monster acting stupid to a random drop that wasn't supposed to happen.

You people are not understanding the severity of the situation.

Its big difference between encounter a bug and exploiting a bug. The latter is breaking the in game eula that you accepted when logged in (don’t have the text in front of me at work, but others can probably get the reference or I can do that when I get home). If you do exploit a bug, you deserve to get banned.
