[Column] Guild Wars 2: Changing WvW
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/17/13 10:45:38 PM
- GW2's attempt at RvR was "meh" and fun for a bit at launch and maybe a week or two here and there. The budget and smaller dev team was apparent with features like culling, orbs, and yak escort rewards. - Culling took entirely too long to fix, and with it fixed theres a much smaller population playing the game now, as well as WvW in general. Orbs well, took entirely too long to remove at launch, while being exploited, and then never recieved a fix. Yak escort rewards/completion needed to be changed, but once again complete removal, and then removing all rewards was not the way to go. Great advice had been put forth just to only allow 1 yak escort credit at a time, the only problem was stacking yak completions. - The addition of some type of horizontal grind/progression (ranks) took too long. The general direction of WvW is aimed at casual players, which is not (from what I've seen) the general population of RvR type of pvpers. - Looking forward to CU. |

Guild Wars 2: The Future of WvW
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/06/13 6:49:03 AM
Originally posted by ShakyMo Another thing that prevents me from taking WvW serious anymore, features like this and simple yak escort rewards being removed and never actually fixed (I mean actual rewards like karma and xp not credit). As well as the skill lag I've experienced, since the removing of culling, that I never had at launch to anywhere near the same extent. |

Guild Wars 2: The Future of WvW
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 6/05/13 6:59:59 PM
WvWvW tried and failed at any real type of rvr experience, it was semi-fun while it lasted but two (there is only two not 4) instanced maps get boring eventually.

Playing rift, right now, for my 3rd time and absolutely loving it. I got the expansion completely free with Raptr rewards and have started playing as a Defiant which I've never experienced before, a mage btw. Have him up to 45 in 5 days and enjoying both pve and pvp, on a pvp shard. Guild Wars has nothing on Rift unless your super casual. BTW: harbinger soul is a melee mage with no casting, mixed ranged dots and melee deeps if your so anti-casting |

Well what dissapointing news, only hope they scrapped some theme-park development and are going in the direction of a sandbox without cartoons.

Wasted $40 : Don't bother with this game
General Discussion « Darkfall: Unholy Wars 5/25/13 8:38:06 PM
To everyone who openly expressed your opinions on DF:UW in this thread thank you, I have been on the fence about purchasing this game for some time and after many hours of watching gameplay, reading reviews, talking to players, and reading forums like these. You have helped save me from wasting $55, I will remain against purchasing DF:UW until there is a trial or free to play weekend. |

I've been on the fence about buying this game, as I'm a hardcore pvper, for several months now. I've watched hours of gameplay, read reviews, and talked to players playing it. I love much of what I've heard about player housing, clan cities, sieges, naval combat, and open-world pvp. On the other hand I've heard a lot about cheating/hacking, full player loot is always questionable in my opinion unless it is done well, the graphics put me off (I don't require much but more than that), the clunky and unpolished combat and animations, and the lack of content other than zerg-oriented pvp. My guild is playing it now and I'd love to join them but I've made enough bad investments in games in the past year that I simply will not take a 50/50 gamble on DF:UW. I just have to agree the bottom line with a type of re-released "iffy" product like this I'd only buy it if I had the opportunity to try it before hand, even a trial or weekend pass would be enough for me. |

I am just tired of all the killing and war...
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 5/25/13 7:59:01 PM
Reading this made me lol. We can't engage in violent acts (killing and warfare) in real life to most extremes without breaking the law and/or being a psychopath. Therefore video games provide an outlet to channel all of that anger/violence in an enjoyable and rewarding atmosphere. I'm a hardcore pvper, the fact that all the games coming out have to do with killing and warfare in the near future makes me beyond happy. Also if I wanted to be against killing and warfare I'd do it in real life, I could go hug a tree somewhere eh? |

[Editorial] Neverwinter: On the Duplication Debacle
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/24/13 9:54:07 AM
I had planned on returning to the game casually, stopped playing after 3 days, just to level. After learning this had been going on for so long and the only action taken was a 7 hour roll-back that penalized everyone along with the "cash grab" mentality the whole "super themepark" that is Neverwinter is based on is enough to keep me away for good.

Age of Conan: Unchained: Five Days of Bosses Incoming
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/22/13 12:27:10 PM
I've tried to come back to AoC these past years, it's just completely dead and empty so I was turned away. The main thing about AoC I loved was the real "M" rating in that game, actually aimed at adults in every aspect and not an unrealistic fantasy that many games portray.

[Column] Elder Scrolls Online: On Cyrodiil as World PvP
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/21/13 2:58:56 PM
While I love large scale pvp myself, I have to agree that removing pvp with other factions out of Cyrodiil just seems like a way to cater to pvpers and pve'ers without choosing one over the other. This is why I'm looking forward to CU so much, as a hardcore pvper atleast I know where they stand.

[Column] World of Warcraft: A Deep Look at Patch 5.3
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 5/21/13 9:40:50 AM
Have to disagree here, your reasoning for being against the skill-tree is simply based off of "your opinion" of how other players used it. Whether people all spec'ed the same way or not, having the customization and availability not to is what sets a good mmo apart from a bad one. Also your experiences aren't the same as all of us, I know I experienced plenty of times where players spec'ed their own way and would demonstrate and share their builds with guildies. I never looked up a build from a website ever, only took the advice from more experienced players for certain classes in-game. This was all I needed get over 2400 rating in my first rbg season. |

Lotro, once a great game destroyed...
General Discussion « Lord of the Rings Online 5/20/13 9:48:27 PM
Waited on the Lotro boards a year before the game came out and maintained a founders sub for years after the game came out only to be disappointed time and time again. I pvp'ed 90% of my time in Lotro and the complete and utter lack of "promised" additions and improvents to pvp never came. In fact, it got so much worse when monster play became pay-2-win. I absolutely love Lotr , which is why I casually played a mediocre game so long, but the cash shop and development direction (idiotic) has already dug the whole for Lotro's demise. |
