Not done it myself but doesn't having 2 accounts mean you can bring 2 ships along whoever you go and switch to the ship most suited to a particular scenario, also gives an advantage at camps etc. Sounds like pay to win that irather favours vets. A lot of players only want to play single account as per how the game is advertised, not to mention new players that cannot generate in game isk to that degree.

SO using more than 1 account is pay2win now? Because by that logic every mmo out there is pay2win. At least in Eve you can do it with in-game currency which isn't particulary hard to get.

That is pure nonsense and you know it.  Try doing anything in hi-sec these days.  They show up in 50 million isk ships that they don't even bother to recover anything from after they gank you.  It is all about the kill mail.  They just sell more plex.  They can get enough skills with about 2 months training time to fly a t2 bc.   CCP does not care, it is more money for them.

The game has become a complete joke,

Considering how many multi-billion isk ships for incursions fly around with ganks maybe happening once every 2-3 weeks of maybe a single ship. So, its far from as prevalent as you say. Mining ganks are about the most common but at the same time you can mine in a fairly replaceable ship or a dead end system and not lose them that often.

Isn't it worse that nobody needed to train those 3 months worth of skills because they were worthless. I mean the main skill need changes comes from finally actually needing the advanced refining skills to lvl 5 to get to where you were before at lvl 3.

There are people farming battlegrounds in wow with multiple accounts, or soloing older dungeons with alts too. But I get your point, having more accounts in eve does have more of an impact in your outcome, and due to how the combat works it's not very hard to contol multiple accounts either.

Only time you will see Multi-boxed combat being done consistently effectively is in mission PVE, even in Incursion PVE multi-boxers are rare outside of having an extra account for a off grid booster.

Originally posted by Bladestrom Lol hazelle eve is a great game but it is also pay to win (but it's a deliberate part of the game , just unfair for new players). As for your example well sure you can counter a fight with a 20 multiboxer by bringing friends ( because that's what a fair fight is right?). But that multiboxer can equally bring friends. Bottom line veterans can fund more accounts with isk than new players and do so because multiboxing is a recognised strategy. That's why eve is screwed when their pve player base collapses when they move to elite etc, the game is crippled by its dependancy on a small bet base.
"Pay to win is when you are able to buy an item advantage that can't be countered without also using a pay to win item."

A second account controlled by one player is not pay to win because it's a second account which can be countered by a second player and not just another second account and so on and so on +1 +1 +1 until you think the odds are in your favor and then risk your ship(s) in combat after all Eve online is an open world pvp full loot MMORPG so fair fights only really happen during the new eden open.

That is a BS definition of P2W Hazelle and you know it.

Actually that is pretty much exactly the definition of pay2win. The ability to purchase things that gives you a significant advantage over to those who don't pay. Things like gold ammo, gold items. Stat boosts, etc... EVE has none of these things. Everything is available to everyone, PLEX only allows you to get the help of another player without the need to have the personal charisma to have them help you out of liking you.

I have never heard that about Eve. I know people who have been playing for years and they say if you want anything to do with being competitive you need at least 5 accounts. That almost all top guilds or whatever its called in Eve use at least 5 account for the lower end people more than that if they are truly competitive.

I'll Second Phry, extra accounts in are only used in purely utilitarian disposable roles in PVP, Mining is the only group activity that you will see people multi-boxing accounts doing the primary operation, because it is frankly a very low input activity. That said grab some friends and joking around on Voice chat while mining away is a hell of a lot more fun then solo multi-boxing.

People are being people, when consequences are removed from the equation the real shit nature of people comes out. What do you think would happen if law along with every police officer would just dissapear over night? Mass murder, raping, raiding and pillaging, humiliation and general torment towards other people on massive scale.

Not really, There have been many instances in history with areas with little to non-existent laws and that stuff doesn't happen that often. Even the so called Wild West wasn't nearly as bad as movies and books make it out to be. In general areas that are more remote tend to have much nicer people in it. Part of that was because being a dick when people can and will do something about it tends to put a calming effect on things.

My dad's side of the family is from Elkins, WV in the US. Its a place where it is not uncommon for the nearest state troopers backup to be over an hour away.  When Hurricane Sandy went through there were almost 150,000 people in that region with out power when the news was still flipping out on the 1000 in NY without power. You didn't hear about it because they made sure to take care of each other because frankly there isn't anyone else. It was not uncommon to see 20-30 miles worth of roads cleared and plowed not by the government but by the residents along that stretch.

Now compare that to a city, nobody needs anyone and there is normally far less kindness overall. A lot of that comes from the mob-mentality that in a large enough group someone else will take care of it so you don't have too, and better yet there is enough people that you won't be able to be blamed if no one does.  The rest of it comes from the fact that laws and police give extra weight to its someone elses problem thinking.

It has been proven multiple times in psychological tests that if you put a barrier or limits up, people will be far more comfortable going right up to the limit of danger.  If you take people to a high cliff overlook they will slowly move up and maybe gingerly peer over the edge, put a fence at the edge and in short time you will see someone do a near full run right up to the fence leaning over without a second thought to the potential danger from a week fence or the ground falling out below it. That is the problem a lot of people have with EVE, it does have rules but they are right at the edge of an unstable cliff. Too many, myself included once or twice, think that the fence protects against more then you running straight off the edge and it doesn't. There is a very large unsafe area before you get to the fence that you can still get hurt in.

It pains me to type this, because I love EVE and think it is a fantastic game, but I do not think its worth starting for most people, really. I started playing maybe a little more than a year ago, and played pretty religiously for some time and even had 3 accounts, so I am not saying this from dislike of the game.

But... what I had realized after a while is that yes, you can pvp in most any ship and no, you don't need to be a titan pilot to have fun, but you WILL have to invest a substantial amount of SP into areas that help you make money, not PVP, and if you want to PVP that obviously is a drawback (a huge one in my opinion). For a game like EVE i think it is utterly baffling how the way you fit and spec for PVE (making money) is totally different from how you fit and spec for PVP.

It is possible, in fact very lucrative, to make money through PVP, but here is the real problem you will face - Unless you plan to commit countless hours a day hunting your prey, you will be lucky to even find fight. And I'm not talking about fair fights, they dont exist in EVE. In fact, EVEs combat is all about positioning yourself to have the advantage in my opinion. I would spend hours upon hours in my wormhole baiting, hunting, etc - but people have way too many tools at their disposal to avoid you.... but Im getting off topic.

Unless you have a buddy/corp feeding you resources for a long time until your SP is up to snuff, you wont have a good time honestly. **IN MY OPINION**

CCP talked about this at (the last?) fanfest so a PvE revamp is somewhere in the future.

They talked about fewer but much smarter NPCs.

With incursions, your PVP fit/skills is your PvE fit/skills and makes more then enough money. basic fits aren't that expensive either.

Yes sadism is a human trait which some individuals possess. However that is why we have laws and rules to prevent these people to get satisfaction from the misery of others. Sure we can't eliminate it completely but what, if anything, has CCP done to discourage this kind of behavior?

Very little and frankly they shouldn't. History has shown us that these laws don't really work the way that people expect them too. Take a scale of 1-10 of how "wrong" a group thinks an action is. They start out by making laws against the stuff 8-9+, then people get comfortable with that and the opinion of what is a 10 changes to what was previously a 8 or 9. Then the group creates laws for the new 8-9+ which was the old 6-7. This continues on till you get a group conditioning reducing personal responsibility, which is very unhealthy for the group.

I just did up a skill plan for a from scratch player into a bare-bones Incursion ready Apocalypse fit and it would take 11days. That same build would be able to go run with 0.0 Battleship fleets as well.  Sure its wasn't going to be able to be awesome solo but in a group activity it would contribute just fine and be able to take enough damage that logi pilots would be able to get to it in time to rep it. The 6 months thing from a "Skill Point" side is just an excessive overstatement.  EVE is not one of those games that isn't going anywhere and the way the skill system is setup allows Characters of all ages to participate and help out. So if you have a plan of what you want to do you can usually get there pretty quickly.

To the flaws of the game, the thing I hate most is that an enemy tank isn't drawn on your screen unless it has been spotted. The tank can stand in the middle of a empty football field and it's not visible unless spotted. Why they did it that way is beyond me, but it's just plain stupid.

Because if tanks were shown all the time then being anything but a Heavy would be worthless, many of the long range sniper tanks can't take a hit. Relying on natural camo requires a extremely vigilant mod group to prevent people from modding the game to easily see targets or just tweaking graphics options to make it easier to spot enemies. Honestly if its an issue then you don't know the maps or your running way to aggressive.

It just took 10 years to reach a half a million. Small victory I guess since most good MMO's have been  in a Blizzard that has been pouring for 8 of those years that keep ppl away from EVE.

And like most blizzards they blow in hard and fast and then the snow starts to melt away.

How would Dust on the PC "UNlevel" the playing field?

You're aware that the PS3 Dust client supports keyboard & mouse natively, right?

Mouse & Keyboard isn't the problem so much as the issue of hacking is much easier on the computer. They couldn't hire enough GMs to watch the servers to prevent it from having a serious effect. While you can hack a console game it is much harder to do and generally destabilizes the game so it crashes quite often.

I can fly a Mach, I just don't want to buy one. It seems like an overkill for something as easy as VG Incursions.

I guess I have to find something else to do for now. Thanks for your replies.

If you can fly a Mach that means you can fly a Megathron, You should be able to fit a decent one cheap (sub 200mil) in which case join "The Ditanian Fleet" and you can run around with the armor guys.

Oh, don't get me wrong. I see the reason. But it's not like Incursions are that hard. I use to almost fall sleep running them last time I was subbed because they were boring. But crap they rake in some nice ISK.

I just wonder what happened that made Incursions such serious business. I know, time = ISK, but wow, really? Only allowed to join if you have a 3B ISK setup for a VG run? Not only that, but none of the FCs can agree on what setup they want so you literally have to bring everything incase they make you change mods.

I don't have experience to be FC nor do I want to. I just want to find a group of slackers willing to hit F1 while watching tv. If I can make 80M per hour, half-assed, it's good enough.

Know any channels?

Are you Shield or Armor for Incursions. I don't know about Shield fleets, but I have never seen this behavior in any Armor Fleets for incursions. As long as the ship and fit was reasonable then you were allowed in.  By reasonable I mean actually having a passive tank that the logis could keep you up. Though now that I think about it most of the shield fleets I see are pure nightmare/mach fleets so I might hazard a geuss that you mean shield fleets? If that is the case consider training up Amarr or Gal and running in an armor fleet.

They'll only ignore them till an aggro switch happens. That said the change is not that big of a deal if you are paying attention. It is a big deal if you did what I did before which is go semi-afk in a Rattlesnake, only really paying attention for activating gates and recalling drones when waves come int.

Heavy Missiles are losing ~25% of both Range and Damage. iirc it is down from 72km to 58km base.

Missile launchers will now be affected by Targeting Disruptors for a further range reduction.

The ship bonuses are getting 'adjusted', but I don't have the specifics to hand.

All-in-all, the premeire missile boats are getting hit like a steel toed boot to the teeth, just before being shoved off a building into a dumpster of broken glass.

It was fairly obvious they were too strong, but I feel the nerfing may be a bit too hard. With what I see coming I wouldn't even dream of a L4 running Drake without using HAMs or something, HML's no longer make the cut. YMMV

Most of that is not happening anymore or at least reduced. I would suggest checking out this thread for the current changes

Last I checked Veld is among the best in high sec until you get to the ABC(ark, Bistot, Crokite) ores in 0.0.

well there are a couple of shortcuts that can help on some of those things.

Weapons can be grouped to that they all fire as one weapon. This must be done when they aren't loaded with ammo and the weapons must be exactly the same they can't be different meta levels. Assuming that is the case you can shift+drag the icon in the fitting window onto another weapon and it will create a group. You can continue to add weapons to the group by dragging more onto any weapon already in the group.

As for lock on you can just ctrl+click the target in space or on the overview to start locking.
