The idea behind it is cool Daarco, but the implementation is bad and poor very poor. If they really wanted to produce something excellent they would have by now: don't forget its 10 years in the making!

How long do you think it will take you untill you get bored?

Actually, I take back what I said about Wolfenstein :p

I just saw a banner sbout it on classic iphone games and its graphics are better than DF's lol

Oh, and mmos are NOT OUR mmos. We are simply paying customers and that is all

It is truly amazing how low and unimaginable fight on this game can be. Not only the lowest possible quality of graphics/animations but also lack of content. Its like watching wolfenstein fighting.

Saddly, Tacos is not succesfull for making a game, but for fooling people using marketing tricks, exploiting peoples lust for pvp and eventlly producing one of the worst mmo titles ever.

This video is just a proof of what most of us were expecting it will be, only 3 years earlier.

Actually AV are not smart at all. It's just that Tacos is stubborn and still believes he can own the mmo market with  lies and marketing tricks. The specific trick he pulled out now is one of the oldest: he created a pseudo feeling of high demand with his "controlled" "purchase" button coming on and off randomly.

He did that for what? couple months? He then let the button on and all that steam built end up in sales. Pointless sales ofcourse, because after another month everyone was quitting in disgust.

Tacos is an idiot, because he had his target group all ready and waiting, all he had to do was to make a semi decent product, to create a surprisingly "big" client base. He had 8 years to do that. Don't you forget that duration: 8 years is not o be taken lightly. He should have presented something that was at least a complete product. He fails again, because basically he is just a lier. I seriously doubt he was doing anything that 8 years time. His game is no more than 6months old in programming, at least thats how it looks like.

You can't lie forever...

When an account is banned it is verified beyond a shadow of a doubt that exploitation is taking place. We do not rely on player or GM reports or on hear say. You were detected, and also verified cheating. You are responsible for canceling your subscription. To cancel your subscription you need to go to the account management page:

https://www.darkfallonline.com/accounts/f/default.php

Remove your credit information by clicking on the link right on top of your billing information. Then go to the products page where you should cancel all active subscriptions if there are any. We cannot discuss this matter with you beyond this notice. Darkfall supportwill only respond to your requests with automated messages. There is no appeals process.

Thank you,Darkfall Support

What I find interesing about this is that a cheater could potentially still pay for Darkfall even though the account has been banned.  This tells me Aventurine's account management system is still a little borked.  It would be funny if a cheater ended up paying for months worth of Darkfall because he didn't read the email thoroughly and assumed his subscription wouuld be terminated along with his account, but the lack of synchronization between subscriber and game accounts could clearly have adverse affects on legitimate players/subscribers.

~Ripper

This is just another indication of complete unprofessionalism.

You go on banning one user, yet you dont cancel his CD subscription.

Them amateurs should not only cancel the subscription, but also do a refund for cancelled service for that particular month... but they are amateurs.

If I was the guy receiving the ban, I would have waitied to be charged one sub, then go to my Bank and raise a formal complaint about cheating and exploiting from AV's side. Then I would demand a full refund on the basis that when the charge was made, I was for example out of reach, or in a foreign country, or not able to login in game toplay, one can claim anything... Because AV are amateurs, just sending an email is not a confirmation that the receiver has also read it! Any suits here?

This game is a revetation to the mmo genre as a whole:

+ Great graphics, eye candy costumes, character differentiation and a great concept.

+ Thorough background and hostorically correct content, which blends nicely with supernatural and tales and superstiotions -the pirate way: great content.

+ Great pvp system

+ Nicely laid rules

+ I totally disagree with avatar combat: It's another game within this game, completelly with its own skill system and 3 fighting schools to choose from. Together with those bautifull costumes it really makes a wonderfull alternative to fireballs one can launch from his ass, farting... Great fun with avcom

+ Great support: problems are getting solved fast.

They got some lag issues sometimes, maybe they need a server cluster within Europe -maybe-

An awesome game, kudos to the devs that made it, the task is huge..

Mobs? You dont need mobs. They only distract you from apreciate the place :)

Lol!

This reminds me of a joke I once heard:

A couple in a gallery, were commenting on a paint which was nothing more than a white canvas. They were trying to figure out what was that all about. Then suddenly the painter introduces himself and they ask him what was this white canvas symbolizing?

The painter put on his authoritative mask and answers: this is clearly a paint about dead nature, you can see the mountains behind the clouds, that beautifull grass field and the cows eating it...

What mountains where are the mountains and clouds? they ask.

-Well as you can clearly see, it was foggy that cold winter day, sso you cant see them...

And where is the grass field? -Well it was eaten by the cow, what did you expected?

And where is the cow then? -The cow ate the grass and left the place for another field ....

Darkfall has single handily redefined and expanded the term Pay to Beta.

Actually, beta is way optimistic.

I would say pre alpha, to be certain...

One question pops in my mind: Since they weren't ready to publish obviously, why did they do it? They were SO greedy to undermine their own creation? I strongly believe all this is just a large scam, and I fear the day they will finally release their online sales.

They could not miss another deadline, like the 5 before it. Especialy after talking so much crap, even right here on this site.

There is no problem there.. It's just a number: 5, 6, 7... who cares? As long as its not years its fine. Fanatics like these following this scammer can endure anything...

His power is not that he created a revolutionary game or anything. His power is the possibility that the way things are right now, he can -anytime- choose when to orchestrate his last large scoop and exit the scene with grace, because this is where we are heading imo

In  short: Darkfall isn't suffering from a poor launch performance. That would have been the good case scenario.

Sadly, Darkfall suffers from much more severe problems; major design issues. In fact, if one plays for more than a few hours, he can't help but wonder what on earth were the developers thinking when they put on paper the core gameplay concepts.

And that is almost impossible to fix now.

What they put on paper as there dreamgame and they visioned all those years 80% is removed, not ingame.

What they have told us and discussed and said in devs talks last 6 years i realy dont know hwat have happend but its almost all gone:(

What they put on paper? There was no paper to start with...

They just went for a ride, visiting all the mmorpgs of the 2000's claiming "I would design this better".

Then they tried to copycat the best ideas of what they saw for their game: I remember back in the time when there were no plans to implement  naval combat, about the era of the pirate games/movies...

It's just a collection of scraps of other peoples ideas, badly implemented of course.

Since I dont play the game, and never meant to play it either

You don't show any qualification to receive a better  answer then this.. and that is why..

How you recovered from vaportrolling ?

It had to happen one day, I actually agree with Darth on something.

OP is not really asking a legitmate question, rather is just trolling by trying to call people who buy and enjoy DF 'crazy'.

We just don't need any more threads like this, but kudos to folks who gave a ernest answer.

I am actually calling them disillusional fools, ready to pay for the air they breathe.

And while I am at it, here is another question:

Those that paid for that scam and want to bail out, why don't they demand their cash back? Is there any speculation or even hint in the agreement they signed indicating 5mins of play and 4 hours of queing? Sometimes, even the internet lows...

Why recovered? It's still vapor. Alpha stage paid vaporware with 4 hour queues. It's even worse than it was 1 month back.

If you call this a recovery...

I went from many years of playing WoW straight to Darkfall. Right now i feel crazy for even bothering with WoW in the first place. So to amswer your question. If DF have 2 years left of developent, i could not be any happier. Because you already now have alot more to do in DF then you will ever have in WoW.

But why do you care really? You even say you dont have any interest in Darkfall!

In an effort to filter out questions like these, I will tell you right now, that I am only interested in understanding mass phychology of the consumer and how much more a producer can torture him before giving up. I heard the other day that surprisingly the business of selling land on the moon is not going very well, so sellers were forced to drop prices... but still there have been many that bought a land there :p So, essentially I want to know how much more air Tassos is able to sell... that's all

To be franc, I don't believe that you left 10 years of WoW, to play queuefall

Since I dont play the game, and never meant to play it either, I would like to ask a question to all those that supported it and still do:

Remember the ongoing war about how long in development that game was (I was insisting it was well over 10 years) and some 80% of this forum's subscribers were actually insisting how good this was because the end product will be finished and all these excuses? What do you guys have to say now, that its common knowledge that this game had at least another 2+ years to develop?

Not only that but you now have to pay 50 euros to endure 4 hours queueing? What is this? People are crazy or what?

I'am not quite sure what exactly they were doing for 8 years.. or even 6 years.. whichever way you want to look at it.. but it sure as hell was not developing this game because in reality it should not have taken more than 2 years to build what amounts to nothing more than a totally empty, featureless, contentless video game. Darkfall is nothing more than a poory done combat simulator system with bad animations, outdated graphics, terrible sound/music , terrible CS, and barebones functionality at best. Couple this with a group of people who are seemingly some of the most incompetent and common sense challenged to ever launch a MMO and you have Failure within a few short months, if not weeks.

They were hyping the game with bullshit promises, that they simply knew they will never be able to keep.

Tassos, as he would never accept his loss, he finally made his exit or will, in a couple of months after scooping whatever he can gather from this scam.

In his Quest, he was not alone.  MMORPG.com helped him so much, that shows us that in the vast world of internet, and under the title of free reportage anything can happen.

If anything, what I will remember from this scam, is the fun I had in this forumfall, and the amazing Hitler movie series from Placebo. Especially the last episode. Great fun to watch, nice work there guys

The orginal PvP game, UO pre-Tram, was where a lot of people started their killing careers. The next couple games out that fortified PvP enthusiasts was Asheron's Call - Darktide and Shadowbane. After that, PvP games no longer utilized the solo aspect that was commoningly known. Instead it became more of a faction or realm struggle and involved a more pride based war. Games like SWG, DAoC, AoC and even WoW all provided this form of PvP style.

DFO however has a few traditional characteristics like Shadowbane and UO.
1) Sandbox
2) FFA PvP, Full Loot
3) Player Built Cities
4) Skill Based
5) And So On...

However, I'm not quite sure what players fight over in DFO. Is it resources, gold... what? Also, what happens when a certain guild or alliance becomes so overwhelmingly strong that it's literally impossible to defeat them, then what?

In order for an MMO to maintain a constant struggle, atleast one long enough to provide the gaming company with a profitable income, you need boundaries. DFO really doesn't have any boundaries for the most part, so law lies in the hands of each player in the game. Eventually though, one guild will dominate a server, which leads to conquested boredom and then what?

This is why DAoC pretty much died, because people were allowed to switch realms on the same server. So after so long, enough players from the losing realms jumped ship and joined the bandwagon, creating an extremely lopsided game.

What does DFO utilize to prevent conquest boredom?

Then on top of all that, you have the macro's and the hacks. PvP + Hacks and Exploits = Epic Fail. The whole point of a PvP game is to see which players truely have skill. With hackers, all that gets thrown out the window. Cause once one or two people hack, more will hack and than you can't tell who is hacking and who isn't. So someone who is legitimately good in-game might get labeled as a hacker when they truely aren't.

DFO is a good concept on paper, but right now, it's failing to prove it's anymore successful than previous PvP MMOs.

So now it boils down to this. Is DFO only popular simply because it's the new MMO on the block? Only time will tell. Just ask WAR and AoC.

More or less you said it all.

Due to lack of resources/cash its developers took the easy way of the "sandbox" game.

But, sandbox is not necessarily a game without rules like this one. After 10 years in the making, they managed to create the world. I can almost envision its manager(s) whipping the hell out of his programmers, while trying to catch his own broken promises one after the other. They did all that in an effort to release a product that would at least keep some of its promised specs. Yet they completely forget to set a solid rulebase which is what makes a game, THE game.

Add to this the fact that now, Greece, Europe and most of the world are now deep within an economic crisis, and you can sure tell where everything is headed. Besides everything already mentioned here, I believe that economy is simply the last drop for DF...

I just heard, they will be giving free copies of Windows 3.1 with it... At least until stock is depleted... Must have been since Razorwax :p

 Better resolution, same bad taste.

In fact, better resolution reveals a lot to criticize. Where is all that polishing? All Tasos was saying with those dev logs of him, was that he polished and he was polishing and he polished even more, and wax was over and then he bought some more for some more polishing.

No debris from weapons hitting walls, buildings, ships

Ships in particular very poorly designed, bad animations.... bleh its a waste of time. this thing needs some 2-3 years to finish

the game play and the graphics look like crap in the video and i know people in the beta that say this game is not anything close to what was promised and they don't even test anymore.

For your guys sake I do wish that it is everything you are looking for, because I would never wish that anyones game would fail, but from what I have seen so far this will be nothing but a bunch of guys running in circles in a FFA frag fest with there 8 year old PC becuase they can't play anything good.

best of luck to you all, you will need it

Let me expand a bit with your permission of course :p

The game is BOTH Vaporware AND Crapware ... :)

And its also the only candidate of  DINOSAURWARE (10 years in development, 10 year old designs)

let me help you all comprehend this its looks semi good if you download the file but you watched it on youtube and it looked horrible, the graphics them selfs are turned to medium including the shadows and textures, and spell animations, cannonballs, and maybe this ship ons ( not sure bout the ship ones) would turned all the way on low want to know why because the computers have a 6800 nvidia card and they are recording a video in HD and playing the game at the same time bad combo just maybe so yah the game will impress alot more when open beta is started.....also the animations looked choppy because they did a 3:4 ratio on the frame rate instead of 1:1 while they edited it so the video would not be 2 gigs.

Im not criticizing the video itself or the gfx quality, or at least not just these, and yes I have watched the footage in youtube. Im not gonna spend an hour downloading this Dinosaurware.

There is a clear indication from what I have watched that developers tried and copied a lot of other mmorpgs in an attempt to make the super mmorpg that is called DF. If you guys can recall in the course of this development, there were no thoughts of adding ships but somewhere along, 2 years back, PoTBS was out, so they adjusted like Borgs adjust and add them! And what a bad copy it was! Did you really liked that flying piece of junk in a medieval game with swords and arrows ???

Am I not gonna see those if I d/l the files of this crapware?

The game is doomed, and a launch within 2008 is impossible. A launch within 2009 will be actually more of an open beta, with questionable results.

10 years in the making... 10 years old Dinosaur
