check out Dofus and Wakfu (both made by the same developer). You run around in typical MMO style out of battles, but in battle gameplay changes and is like a turn based strategy game, very similar to FFT. |

Asherons's Call 2! F2P (Free 2 Play)...

yes, I definitely would. I never got to play AC2, and that saddens me greatly. Also, watch the exciting yet deceptive thread titles. they bring much disappointment. |

I'd love a trial if anyone has one. My email is kataal@gmail.com. Thanks for any help! :] |

I've you've got another spare, I'd love to come back to the game. I've not played since just after the Kamael were released, and I hear Gracia is awesome. Thanks in advance, even if you don't have any keys left. :P |

I'd love to join you. I only played DAoC for a very short while, as the game was already a ghost town when I started. I loved what I saw, but there was just no one to play with. If people play again, I'd definitely come back. |

The guy from BioWare ACTUALLY talked about making games and what it's like at the studio except for the first five minutes. Blizzard, however, just spent an hour hyping WotLK and showing us trailers we'd already seen. |

We had a guy that works for BioWare come and talk at our school. He said that the ONLY info he could give us about the game is that it WOULD NOT be out before Q2 2010. |

Good IPs that have not been used for MMO yet?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 3/18/09 1:55:34 AM
.hack// is my top choice, hands down.
other than that, Shadowrun (which I think is in development), and Witchcraft would be awesome. |

well, the game is playable in Europe, but only in a select few countries. The rest are to be given over to the US publisher Acclaim. It seems you'll have to wait for those servers. Even the UK got the shaft and is going to be required to play on the US servers. |

From what I've played, Spellborn will still be one of the best MMOs of 09, as long as Acclaim changes nothing (which i don't think they have the rights to.) They just need to hurry up, or at least make it seem like they're TRYING to hurry. At this point, it seems like they're taking their sweet time, and this is not a case where "it's ready when it's ready" works, as it does for Blizzard. The game is out in Europe, it should be out here by now. There is nothing stopping Acclaim from releasing it other than the fact that they're being slow at what they're doing. |

there is another thread almost exactly like this that people are posting in now. I'lll answer the question, though.
DDO and FFXI are definitely your best bet, as both require groups for most of the game. Personally, I'd reccommend DDO before FFXI (I played FFXI for two years, and it's simply not what it used to be.) |

I understand what you're saying, but in this case I'd have to disagree. If the game had not been released yet, maybe if there were an NDA or something, I could understand why they aren't releasing info, but if the game has been released and people are playing it in europe, I see no reason for Acclaim to withold info. Yes, I have seen people asking about the EU client, and asking if there have been updates when they are in the stickies. I've read the updates, and there are have been only one or two TINY updates since december, and have in NO WAY been making updates almost daily until the site change a few days ago. There was a span of weeks where they didn't post AT ALL. This may be how Acclaim does business, and I'll have to deal with that if I want to play, but there's a reason, actually probably many reasons, why they have such a bad reputation among MMO players, and this is just a prime example of that. I'm definitely a Spellborn fanboy, but I didn't like Acclaim before, and I've tried to give them a chance with Spellborn, but they continue to fail, time and time again. |

I'm not a noob, in any sense. Also, if you're going to argue that F2P games make more money than P2P games, then i'd have to say Acclaim fails just as much, because their support for the rest of their games is shit too. I never once asked where my invite was, or where the download was, because I DO read before I post. I simply asked for more than the measly amount of info that's been given. |

what's ridiculous is how a few people are defending them.
theHistorian, the, it seems, only community manager for Spellborn (he also posts here sometimes) seems to know very little, not because he isn't doing his job, but because he simply isn't given very much information to tell everyone. I made a post about it in the forums, saying that the communication between the community and acclaim was terrible, and that they needed to realize that P2P customers expect more than the F2P players they are used to. I was told to "get off my high horse" and that I shouldn't tell Acclaim what they need to know with my "allmighty wisdom." I also said that i didn't understand why the game was taking this long when it was already fully translated into english and simply needed to be put on new servers. The same person said this: "How do you know the game was fully translated, yes the client was in english but that does not mean that the server was already translated" can someone explain to me how you translate a server? At this point, I don't understand why ANYONE would defend Acclaim, especially anyone who's ever played a P2P game. They are an F2P publisher through and through, and clearly don't understand how P2P communities work and what they expect.

Something that Irks me about TCoS
General Discussion « The Chronicles of Spellborn 2/06/09 2:49:17 PM
It's sad when a game is doing poorly because the game itself has problems. It's a tragedy, however, when a game is very polished, original, and just plain brilliant, but is so poorly managed that it never gets a chance to shine. Spellborn is a primary example of this type of tragedy. Not only does Acclaim fail on every level to communicate effectively with its community, making it seem like they're simply hording the game for no reason at all, but the company that developed and that is running the game in EU is apparently not marketing the game whatsoever. The EU servers are a ghost town, not because the game is bad or has any problems, but becuase no one has heard of it. |

While I've been really...really patient with acclaim so far, I'm definitely frustrated now. There's absolutely NO reason US shouldn't be playing right now. At least let us play the EU TRIAL until Acclaim gets their shit together. It's not just US players whining about it either, many EU players on their forums are asking SIL to lift the IP ban, because, apparently, there has been a distinct lack of marketing, and the servers are all but dead. All Acclaim is doing is losing money for themselves and SIL by taking this long. The game is completed, so let us play it ffs. |

The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/05/09 12:30:58 PM
Original IP, definitely. I choose this mostly because I prefer seeing things I haven't seen before, rather than just seeing things I have seen before translated into an MMO. Also, usually MMOs based on IPs don't give you the same feeling or just aren't as good as the IP itself, leading to disappointment. |

Which MMO out has the most potential?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 2/04/09 1:28:15 AM
DEFINITELY Vanguard.
While the Conan world has a lot of potential, the way AoC is constructed limits that potential a LOT.
Eve comes in a close second. There's so many ways trhat the game can expand, and station walking is going to be the beginning of a whole new side of the game. Can't wait for that. |
