WOW is killing itself.  They claim that they have 12 million subs but if you check the records WOW's subs are currently at 6 million.  Basically in 2008 they had about 9 million active subs and now half way in 2009 it's at six million.  Why?

Are there official records then? and could you link to them?

Thanks in advance.

This is not lame at all.  It in fact is a very honest and fair opinion about your 30 minutes in Darkfall.

I do not play Darkfall, but I hope this game will be enjoyable for you.  I have to say though I find being ganked is the first thing that happend as you spawn into the world rather hilarious.

I do not intend to bash the game in any way, but to be honest the ganking story is a familiar one to me, Ive heard this from several people who did try the game. (I have never tried myself since I disliked pvp servers in wow, and judging by the stories this game takes the grieving & ganking one step further, not my cup of tea)

I do like soloing a lot in mmorpgs, I do solo as much as possible and group up only for instances, raids and quests that are really not soloable. Easy to say I should not play mmorpg's but single player rpg's just dont have the huge amount of added content over time and they usually do not have a social environment.

While i respect your play style and how you want to play i don't feel they should cater to you and change the game to the way you like.  Its not like you don't have options there are online rpg's that don't cost monthly that have the option of playing online whith people or not dlc or player created content.

And if you want the social environment that kind of is grouping, but if you just want to talk online you got a cell phone or xfire.

Oh that was never what I meant to say, a lot of the current mmorpg's perfectly match my play-style which makes the need to ask to change games to the way I like them unneeded. (I think that also indicates there are quite a lot of people who like this playstyle)

Also the social environment I meant was the player avatars running around, chatting in channels and sharing the same interest in the same game. (the mmorpg you are currently playing)

I think you also have to agree with me that there is a difference in quality between online rpgs and mmorpgs with monthly fees, don't get me wrong Im not saying all mmorpg's should be solo games, ofcourse not, but I'm quite happy with the current state of most mmorpgs when it comesto the solo content atm.

The best part about it is we get Ptach all the way up to 1.5 for NA release and that adds even  more polish, content and fixes. Character creation even gets way more faces, hair, arm, leg and shoulder length options and more!!

Are you sure about this? For all I know theyre just adding some more hairstyles and faces, but I havent heard anything about the other things you mentioned.

(my source: www.aionsource.com/forum/general-discussion/20946-patch-notes-v1-5-update-shadow-balaur.html )

I'm not a pvp-er either, well that means I like variation and a bit of choice in a game. None the less I'm certainly going to try Aion and see how it turns out.

Hehe I usually pick roleplaying servers since they often have at least a naming policy, so I wont run in "Urdaddy" s and the like.

(For that matter I think rp servers are lovely)

Im not really enjoying the actual roleplaying, but I respect the rp-rules and I always rp in return when players approach me, staying in character isn't very hard.

Its kind of funny, not only warhammer and aoc are currently gving free game time, swg does as well, and vanguard soh did last month...

I think its a smart move, after all it will be bioware's first mmorpg and besides sharing technology like this will probably make better products for us consumers.

What matters is using an engine, using tech that is suited to the demands of a MMORPG. You dont have to have it run on a calculator to be successful, there are millions of players out there whose rigs are not hamster-wheel-powered with wooden dial-up and a broken bathroom mirror as screen. What you need is to do what Guild Wars did, what Aion did, create a game engine that isnt a rip-off of a singleplayer shooter, but that works for 60 people on screen.

I could be mistaken, but isn't Aion for instance powered by the crytek cryengine? I think most (if not all) use allready build game engines and then modify it instead of building their own game engine. I think I once heard Age of conan was build on the same engine they used for Anarchy Online which was fully developed by their own company I think, but I'm not sure if that's usual (and I'm not even sure if its true)

Finally, the dwarf slayer, just the thing to get me resub to war. (I'm serious here, was thinking for a while to resub, but the lack of classes that suited me on order side kinda kept me from playing.. I was waiting for the dwarf hammerer, but the dwarf slayer is a dream coming true for me)

This game is shaping up VERY NICELY - especially for an SOE product

*grins* indeed!

while lvling up its very nice to herbalism as a warrior, the healspell you get for it is very helpful. Once you hit 80 its not that useful anymore.

Professional gamers.. hardcore.. times have changed I guess. (I seem to be one of the rare individuals that plays a game for fun and to relax after a hard day of work)

Mr Wood very nice objective and focused comments, was a pleasure to read you.

Indeed, fully agree with that.

Embers online is recruiting for their warhammer order part of the guild.
We are a group of mature gamers from all over the world, although most of us come from the UK.

We're looking for more mature minded players to join our ranks on the server Tor Anroc.
If you like to know more what we are about please check out www.embersonline.org
(or you can always send a tell to one of our members in game)

Some more info:

- We speak English in guildchat.
- Our guildtax is 5% the money we collect with this is used for guildevents.
- All the ember guilds in Lotro, Wow (alliance/horde) etc. have regular guildmeetings. (nothing is ever forced here)
- Most of us are between casual gamers and hardcore, most of us have a fulltime job, expect most people to be online during the evenings +1 gmt and the weekends.
- If you like to join after reading the guildrules on the site, just find the password and send a tell to an officer so we know you are aware of our guildrules and guildphilosophy.

Happy gaming, and we hope to welcome some new members in the future.

Thanks for the link, these goldspammers drive me nuts, yesterday I got about a whisper every minute at times. I'm certainly going to try out the addon, although I think mthic should integrate a mechanic like this in the client instead, the spam has getten worse and worse over the last days.

definitely ironbreaker, they can take a beating and when they have their grudge at 100, they dish out a fair amount of damage as well.

Dixons, it was the first shop able to preorder in the netherlands. I did also receive the preorder kit months ago.
