What will be the name of the Time Locked Progression Server?

  • The Time Locked Progression Server will be named Fippy Darkpaw, as chosen by the community.

 

When will the Time Locked Progression Server open?

  • Currently we are targeting Tuesday February 15, 2011 for the opening of Fippy Darkpaw.

 

What rule set will the Time Locked Progression Server use?

  • The Time The Time Locked Progression Server will use the normal PvE rule set.

 

What sort of items and content will and will not be available at launch on Fippy?

  • For the Fippy Darkpaw Server we have done our absolute best to remove items which would give an inappropriate or undue advantage such as Defiant Armor or certain tradeskill related items. Generally the items that you will find should be items that came with the expansion currently available or were unlocked during that expansion. Augments created specifically for progression servers will be available.

 

Will there be Hotzones or Hotzone drops??

  • Hotzones and Hotzone items will not be available on Fippy at release

 

How about Marketplace items, will Mounts be available?

  • In addition to restrictions on items initially available within the game, Marketplace, Loyalty, and Claim items have been similarly addressed. If an item or buff offers stats, it will probably not be offered from any of those methods until a later date. Mounts will not be available until Legacy of Ykesha is unlocked or later, depending on the mount.

 

How will tradeskills work on Fippy Darkpaw?

  • We have made efforts to limit tradeskills to the expansion when the recipe actually came out. Potion making and jewelry making have had the old recipes enabled, and these will stay this way until the Prophecy of Ro expansion is unlocked. Similarly the new poisons will not be activated until around Underfoot. The exception is spell research where we will not reverse it to the older method. Instead, we have limited recipes for the appropriate expansion and made ingredients for research available in more zones..

 

How will progression work on Fippy Darkpaw?

  • As with the previous progression servers, players will need to defeat certain challenges to unlock newer expansions. Once these challenges have been defeated there will be a grace period where the server will stay in the current expansion. After the grace period, players will be able to vote through an in game poll to unlock the next expansion. The voting period will be one week.

    Initially the grace period will be 90 days before voting will start for Kunark, then 60 days for each expansion after that. At some point we will even have a vote to see if players wish to change that grace period.

    If the majority of players vote to unlock the next expansion, the next expansion will unlock at the end of the poll. If the majority of players voted to stay with the current expansion, then there will be a one week grace period before another poll will be posted. This will happen until a majority players vote to unlock the next expansion.

 

Will there be limits on who can vote?

  • Voting for progression will be limited to those on Fippy Darkpaw and above a certain level. The exact cut off level is yet to be determined; however we are currently thinking somewhere around 30.

 

Will maps work on Fippy Darkpaw? How about other windows that have been added since launch like the expanded target window?

  • Yes, the map window will be functional on Fippy. Most other windows will be tied to the expansion they released with.

 

What will experience gain be like on Fippy?

  • Experience gain will be substantially scaled back on Fippy Darkpaw. Hell levels will not be added back in and the current experience curve will be in place, however the experience earning rate will be reduced.

 

What will the revamped zones look like on Fippy Darkpaw? When will zones that weren't tied to a specific expansion be added?

  • Zones which have had their graphics updated will stay with the new look and feel. If a zone was added between expansions, efforts have been made to assign them to the expansion they launched after. Most zones which have had level changes (such as the Temple of Cazic Thule) will be reverted to their old level ranges.

 

Will the manastone or other items that have been removed from the game be available on Fippy?

  • Some items which no longer drop in the current game will be available starting in the second month on Fippy Darkpaw. These items will be available for a limited time. Good luck in your hunting!

 

Will there be server-wide messaging upon the defeat of progression related targets?

  • Yes, we plan to have server-wide messaging when a progression target is defeated for the first time.

 

Will the tutorial be available for players on Fippy Darkpaw?

  • No, the tutorial will not be available.

 

What races and classes will be available at launch?

  • All races and classes initially available at the launch of EverQuest will be available at the launch of Fippy Darkpaw. Class choices which have been added to these races (such as Halfling Rangers) will be available. Classes (such as Beastlord and Berserker) and Races (such as Vah Shir, Iksar, and Drakkin) not available with the launch of EverQuest will not be available until the expansion in which they were added is enabled.

 

Can we use marketplace items to change our race on Fippy Darkpaw?

  • Yes these items will be available, however please note that the Race and City will need to be available in the current expansion that Fippy is experiencing or the change will result in an error message

 

Will out of combat mana regen be enabled? Will your items stay on your corpse when you die?

  • Enhanced out of combat mana regeneration rates will be disabled on Fippy Darkpaw. At launch items will not stay on your corpses when you die, however we will be putting this up for a vote in the near future.

 

Will the /melody command be available on Fippy Darkpaw?

  • Yes, /melody will indeed be available.

 

Will Monk fists use the original fist damage table or the new enhanced version?

  • Monks fists will use the new damage tables for unarmed damage.

 

How about ShadowKnight Harm Touch? Will it do damage using original values or those currently on the live servers?

  • Harm Touch will be identical to the current live servers.

 

What time will Fippy Darkpaw open?

  • Our current target for opening Fippy Darkpaw is between 10:00 a.m. PST and Noon Pacific.

These zones will remain as revamped zones on Fippy.  But the rest of the hundreds of zones will remain classic originals.  The only revamp I dislike is Freeport, and that's mainly due to how they changed the layout of the zone.  Rest of the revamps kept the same layout, with the same landmarks and npc's.

 I'd agree Freeport is the worst revamp of them all.Nek was done rather well imho.An the Ocean of tears remake i dont realy see as much of a change tho its got zoneing in  or out problems.Lavastorm was done before don came out an its not bad at all.

Eq was an still is my main mmorpg.Tho as some have pointed out in this thread its grafics can be awful.In 2006 the serpents spine was suposed to be the start of new character models .With the burning sea expansion helping bring human models next on the new draklin models .No clue why its not been done other than every time eq1 is suposed to get a improvemtn eq2 gets it instead.Becasue eq2 got new models an eq1 did not.

Some modern day mmo things would fit eq. A auction house besides the bazaar would be nice an bring back some old players to.The ui every time they change it the old crowd roars an hates the new version. I used to mod the ui  http://www.eqinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=3861 but the ui is now way out of date.Maybe one day can get it up to new ui core /sigh.

In game item in the mail would be fine to.Fit right with a acution house. which if rumors are true may tie into player houseing we have now.Which would make sence.

Devs realy need to look at buffing classes an stop  listing to holier than thou hard core raider epeen strokers who rule the forums with a iron fist.Same kind of ass hats who think if you dont have the best raid gear in the game you cant coment on how to play a class or what the game needs.Thier side game is geting other classes nerfed so their epeen looks bigger.. tho its not near as bad as it used to be.

Good luck to those who try the progression server. It will not be old eq keep that in mind, but it should be fun none the less.It realy is a shame most mmorpgs now forget their rpg roots.The game has tons of end game progression ,Alternate character advancment.Tons of quests,Raids an zones.An for the most part a great comunity

It was better than i expected.Not exactly what i wanted but fun none the less.IF it grows (adds more power sets costume /gear) etc its a good go to action game.Since its part of my station acess i dont pay 15 a month for it.Id guess tho in 3 months we wil see how much content bug fixs etc they do.

I was bit worried when one of the eq devs left eq for dcuo dev post.But looks like he hasnt made the game unplayable.Where as eq seems to be better since hes gone.Least some of the classes i play.

But ya they need to add invul as a power set.An wheres the elastic/plastic man power sets that were talked about? An if their smart before summer they will have willpower greenlatern set out.Hopefuly before the movie.

One of the things that surprised me on likeing so much was acrobatics .Best movement power ,more true to comics that i have seen.Great fun.Tho flight animations i still like city of heroes better.But they are two very difrent games.

Heck i can rember helping a shammey friend of mine work his 1.0 back before pop came out an we took the boats to get from place to place an he missed the boat . He ran with lev an the shammie sow thats faster but less duration argh cant think of the name... scale of the cheetah? an caught up to it.Since their return they have goten faster an i dare say since last few patchs they have turbo charged gnome powered  engines.

The boat from butcherblock to FV is not there that one you use the transporter ...but ya just wanted to tell ya about the freeport one =p

like how fast? like so fast that i cant enjoy the ride or fast enough where i wouldnt even be able to get drunk before we arrived

 Ild say not quite bard speed fast but faster than spirit of the eagle.I think its a lore thing to modern eq that their wouldnt be boats from bb to fv . Fv was took over by the overthere crowd.Why would dwarfs send a ship to their.Why would freerade ships go their only to be captured destroyed etc etc.

Yup fv is controled by dark elves an golums like in the overthere.Tho all that should be imho difrnet on a classic server.Wonder if they will use the new spell progression spells per level sorta thing or the old every few levels .One would think with as many progresive classic servers they have done they would have some of this down pat.

 so becuase im beyond bored i checked this..its a 5 min boat from from BB to FP with the stop in OOT...the boat is like 20x faster than a 75 bard speed soon as i jumped off with lev an selo's going that thing flew right pass me like i was standing still

 Wow! Thats one warp speed boat.Last i was in oot last week for my bl's 1.5 boat made sow look like i was siting still in some places an others i could almost cach up to it.i was judging by that.This was on bristlebane ( err bristlebroke for those old enuff ta rember it) so maybe boats speeds are difrent per sever? Cause ours wasnt near as fast as that last week.

3 of my guildies will play on that server once a week.But im gona pass. i still play eq1 now an going backward doesnt seem as fun. Specialy when a server hits god/oow eras they fall apart seems.Those two expansions almost killed eq1.

But that whole you cant go home agian bs ... well yeah you can.But time passes an homes change.Eq has changed over the years .But one thing holds true.. the offical forum raider hard core fan boy royalty still try to get other classes nerfed to make them feel better about their classes.Shame realy that hampers growth of any game.

well so you mean the purple item will drop, instead of entering the code ?

 I got a purpal jokers jet pack in the vault just the other day. it has no stat bonus but gives you flight when equiped .Kinda neet but um i got it on a toon that has flight already :/   dam rng heh.

40ish hours eq1 . I have sleep apnea tho at time didnt know it. Want to say it was 43 hours but cant be sure.No raids or any thing just aa grinding an plat farming.Was before Planes of Power expansion. So before october 2002.

From eq1 to a station acess acount i use now not one problem.Now i know a few im my guild in eq who had a problem with their debt card an soe but most by far dont. It can come down to the bank an type . Mines a visa but friend who had problems has visa as well.

Maybe if it had stolen its name from a ip it be great then?Or attacked wow?It is what it is. If its not for you thats fine .But the bugs are not near as bad as say CO launch .Only one i seen so far is a map one that doesnt show loc of next mission you have in que.

so wish it had a chat an nameing system like Champions online.Chat is holding the social aspect of the game back alot.Other than that im haveing great fun when i play.Its not meant to be a 8 hour grind fest game .So far its been fun for me a few odd bugs but nothing that would break the game for me.Im aprocaing it as if its Batman Arkham asylum but with tons of other players .

Nope not even intrested in progression server.Happy atm on bristlebane working my mains aa an alts up to level an their aa.Only have 13 toons their to work,Why would i spend more time on progression server that will drop population 3 or four months in hard?

Oh an some asked about old models you can turn those on any time you want.Tho as i recall for character models you dont see horses then tho for that model set.

Now if one of the modders who made the hero planers just update theirs so i can respec my toons effecntly /sigh.New update sounds good.

Good points by the op.Been playing it on an off few hours a day since i got it. Great fun for me actualy.More so in a few days than 3 months of wow for me at least.Its got room to grow for sure but they have said that. An best of all i already had a station acess acount so its not costing me any more per month to play :)

I do belive they will deliver content.For this reason alone ... They went threw mmo hell to get the ip.Thye had to take matrix online to get dcuo ip.They know its a big ip with great potential.Sure its mmolite atm but that is a good thing over all for new players.Did any one realy think it was gona be eve in spandex?Yets its more complex than most see.

Curious about that on the preorder an collectors items an if its just one or like other soe games its like 999 of each/?Not seing how to claim  in game ?

Always coh rewards its players over the years . So wish other mmo's did this as well. Look forward to the vanguard booster pack. Some neet costume parts their .Specialy like the face plate for tactical ops look.

Hopefuly this means they have more resources to fund the mmo.As well as more time to their mmos.Thats the bright side.The down side is its EA whoes got a poor record as publisher imho.Not to mention not haveing madden on pc since 08 i belive?But im sure it work out.

Im still intrested in the game.

Collectors from gogamer.com  so will have deathstrokes short sword as bonus in game item.Looking forward to it an adding it to my station acount.
