But the difference used to be the possibility.  It's more an industrial age usage of the word, and I don't think it's ever meant the same thing when it comes to software development.

You don't have to build them, the ps4 comes put together in the box.

Basically, stuff that doesn't matter.  Give me some DLC.

There's a formula I use to decide whether you can rightly claim that an item can be earned in-game with no real money expenses.

Take the number of hours it takes doing things less than ideal to earn the item times current federal minimum wage.  If that value is greater than the dollar cost of buying the item outright, then you cannot claim it can be earned without real money.

You don't have to help someone pick flowers in DA:I, if you are doing that it's by choice.

And I disagree about not being able to make a game feel like PnP, I don't mean the social aspect.  The gameplay was just not very much like PnP.  The closest I've seen a shadowrun game come was in a mud, and it was a lot better than Returns in that regard.

Shadowrun 3rd ed is the most I'm familiar with and perhaps that's why there's a disconnect, but in that version you could do SO MUCH with character creation.  You could start with a million credits and access to some of the best gear if you wanted, or you could start with very little money but great stats and skills.

And why aren't we rolling dice in these games?  I would love for one of these games to give us dice exactly to the PnP ruleset, and let us see them get rolled in full graphical glory.

I was able to trudge through the first one, but it never really felt much like the PnP, and instead felt clunky and tedious throughout.

I am actually very surprised it's gotten this much funding.

Does your friend know if they are ever going to release on ps4?
Guessing most of you haven't seen Pathfinder yet.
Got a vita for my bday and it depresses me how few non-jrpg rpgs there are right now.  Enough with them already.  Or make them back like they used to with chrono trigger, old school FF, grandia, arc the lad.  The jrpgs today are just fan service and giggling girls.

voxel literally means made up of cubes.  If by more complex you mean the cubes go down to be as small as pixels, then yes maybe voxels are the future... but otherwise no.

Maybe you just mean customizable buildable worlds?  Don't need voxels for that, it's just that voxels make it easier to program.

I would have bought the game if you could play throughout the game with players, but no only 5 little zones!

ill just dawn load it and probably just play a view hours and uninstall the average game we get as gamers as usual.

What a sad world.  "dawn load".  Goodness.

Game is excellent.  Just got to a certain point, and it was just epic.  And I'm pretty sure that was just the end of beginning of the game.

As a melee character - I am not liking it. I have no interest in playing a ranged character and frankly melee controls are a mess on the PC.

Has anyone figured out a solution to make melee playable?

The only issue I have is that there is a bit of "locking" as you are fighting. I usualy watch the character carefully and either move when the animation is done or just press in the directon I want and when the animation is done the character moves.

It's not really an issue for me. I don't mind that the character doesn't auto follow the target.

Perhaps you could be more specific as to what your issue is?

Where to start - the lack of following the target or simply click to move to target.

If the target moves I am hitting air.

Removal of auto attack - why? Holding buttons to attack again why?

Tactical camera view - what a mess

Melee combat is just NOT fun as I am fighting with controls more than actually enjoying the game.

I just want to see the game actually designed for keyboard and mouse use - right now it is designed for controller use

I mean if you are going for that MMORPG single player feel - why can't I actually play it like a MMORPG with mouse and keyboard?

Nowadays I never buy a game on launch for this reason.  Almost everything is destined for a console and as an afterthought they allow mouse and keyboard.  I hate this trend. I play with a mouse and keyboard and not a controller.

Where to start - the lack of following the target or simply click to move to target.

-  Um what?  You want click to move?  Geezus H what year is this?

If the target moves I am hitting air.

- Uh ok.  Is this a melee character problem?  I won't say it doesn't exist, I just haven't seen it as I'm a mage.

Removal of auto attack - why? Holding buttons to attack again why?

- What exactly are you doing when your character auto attacks, making popcorn?  How about playing the game instead of expecting it to play itself.

Tactical camera view - what a mess

-  Of course no specifics given.  Works flawlessly for me.

Melee combat is just NOT fun as I am fighting with controls more than actually enjoying the game.

-  You can't just make up stuff and rant about problems that don't exist because you are bitter about one specific thing that may or may not (have no idea) be user error.

I just want to see the game actually designed for keyboard and mouse use - right now it is designed for controller use

- you had ever opportunity to move onto the future of gaming, aka the PS4.

I mean if you are going for that MMORPG single player feel - why can't I actually play it like a MMORPG with mouse and keyboard?

-  Sorry to tell you, but mmo's in the future will be built for gamepads too.

On a scale of 1 to 10 when you compare to other releases within the last 2 years, it's a 10

On a scale of 1 to 10 when you talk about value per hour of awesome gameplay, it's a 10

It's only a 10 on these because 10 is the max.  That's all there is to it.

Measure it on some idealistic absolute nitpickery scale, and it's a 9.  People with that scale in mind have an agenda, are bitter PC'ers, or simply aren't fans of RPGs.

Where do you go to find out stuff like this exists?

Found it on the front page after the intro vid finally ended.  sheesh.

Duping and exploits have never killed any game that wasn't dead inside already.

I skipped reading the replies here, because I imagine you will mostly get PC elitism.  I'm getting it on PS4.  Love gamepads, have a ps4 already, and my PC is too dated to run it at as good as it will look on PS4.

Your decision should probably depend on what makes the most sense for you.  I don't know if people can mod these games, but pretty sure it's not like Skyrim.  Also, I don't know how long PC gamers will be involved in the online aspect, but on the console I have the feeling it's going to be kicking for a while.

I'll agree that WoD is shaping up to be one of the better expansions. Will it dethrone BC or WotLK? That is to be determined, but it's really well done and I like a great many things about it with very little to complain about. We'll see how I, and others feel about it in 6 months -1 year after the shinyness has worn off.

I agree... I think we can mentally say the game history is now:

Classic > TBC > WotLK > WoD

We can just forget that Cata and MoP ever happened.  Those that left during that time period or because of it, will likely find that WoD was the expansion they should have released after WotLK.

I find comments like this strange.  Must be a raider thing.  For me, BC was utter garbage that helped ruin the vanilla game, while Cataclysm helped renew it by adding a lot of life to the new character leveling.

@aslan132 I can't believe you actually said "Hearthstone seems to be doing 'OK'"

Hearthstone made almost a half billion in revenue in less than 6 months.
And Hearthstone was made by 15 people.

Not enough LOLs in the world for something as absurd as "Hearthstone seems to be doing 'OK'"

Blizzard had already said they have no plans for more MMOs.
Seriously, why make an MMO when you can get huge revenues from games with small budgets and small development teams?

God I hate disinformation and people that spread it.

Their revenue was up less than 100 million, "much" of that 100 million attributed to Hearthstone.  Note "much".  Not half, not more than half, not the majority, not most.  Likely something in the range of 30 to 40%, meaning somewhere in the ballpark of 40 million dollars if you are being liberal in the interpretation.  Wow, from 40 mil, to 500 mil.  Quite a jump there.  Not enough LOLs indeed.

WoW is a kiddie mmo.  If they made a more serious mmo, graphically, with sandbox elements, focused on roleplaying and rich with non-combat features, in a non-sword and sorcery setting, it would have almost no overlap.  It wouldn't cannibalize, it would only give them another chance at having a game with 10 mil subs, because people are ready for something different but well-made.

How hard is this to understand really?  You would have to try hard to make a game that would compete for the same customers that like WoW, there's so much room for different types of MMOs.  I mean all an MMO is, is a lot of players in the same space.  To say Blizzard should have only one MMO is like saying they should have only one multiplayer game, or just one game period.

That's what this announcement tells me.  PC gaming as an all-encompassing playground for fun, depth, and creativity, is dead.  How do I get here?

For a couple years, more and more focus of the game industry has been competition between players.  Many franchises without multiplayer traditionally, were forced to add it in by publishers like Activision and EA.   On that note, let me go off on a tangeant, one I think is relevant.  Mass Effect 3 had really awesome fun multiplayer.  It was coop though.  Coop will never win in  a 'ratings' sense (because that's where we are going folks) over PvP.

From streaming now to widespread watching, from ad deals, to ratings centered game development.  Is this good for gaming?  If a game is not fun, and generally bad, you will always have enough people to play it in front of an audience.  There will always be a top ten.  Probably easy to get a top 1000 on any game, if for no other reason then because enough gamers want to be watched even if they are playing a crap game.

But, if a game can't get viewers, can't sell tickets, can't bring in ad revenue, then outside of microtransactions, item shops, MMO subs, and other income streams, the revenue curve and longterm income will no longer support development for that game.  How many independant studios are truly left?  Is Zenimax run by benevolent idealists that believe in the product that made their Bethesda studio so well-known?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  Is EA run by anyone not utterly motivated by profit alone (even if it doesn't come from players themselves!), unlikely.

I believe that console gaming, where developers can actually make some money without massive profit losses due to piracy, has been keeping real gaming afloat for about 5 years (honestly PC gamers are lucky to get releases this gen), but this is likely the last gen where streaming isn't a perfectly implemented and feature rich part of most gaming experiences.  Right now what PS4 has done with sharing is rather crude compared to what can be done to maximize new revenue streams for both publishers and console makers, and I fear game streams as a source of entertainment will be a centerpiece next gen.

I will say this, and it's not relevant.  I don't understand game watching.  I find it about as exciting as a 12 round boxing match full of ass-grabbing, or baseball, or golf.  Or fishing.  So add it to the list of things I think are horribly boring.  The difference here being that my main hobby is gaming, yet I would never sit around watching someone else's game screen and/or mug while they play.  It's not relevant, because the amount of people that seem to be entertained by this is growing exponentially.  Amazon bought twitch for what, 2 bil?

How does this relate to Titan?  Well look at it.  It's practically custom made to be streamed and be primarily and e-sport.  Perhaps I'm being hasty, jumping to conclusions, etc.  But this is what I see when I watch the footage.   Gamers will play it because they want a shot at getting fans, even if it's not particularly fun.  It's the new money train in gaming, and it's also it's death knell.

Perhaps it's only my death knell.  I've felt like my version of real gaming has been assaulted on all fronts with crappy ipad games, facebook apps, the Wii, MOBAs, Madden, and the persistence of such stale and repetitive FPS shooters.  Now, there's yet another front opened.  One that may well engulf many of the other problems with gaming today (gaming as an artform, fun experience, vs gaming as an esport, gaming as a means to glory).  It's a meta assault.  The money that e-sports can potentially generate threatens to corrupt the entire market further and further away from games that are rich, long, and artistic (good dialogue, story, acting etc).

Why so serious?  Many of us have been waiting for an MMO savior for a decade.  Some for much longer.  With the demise of an expected MMO from Blizzard, after so many WoW clone failures, it sort of feels like it's never going to happen.  A turn away from the MMORPG, is a turn away from one of the few financially viable PC markets, perhaps the only one with artistic potential.  To see that Overwatch is their new IP, it's sort of like "goodbye old Blizzard".  The end of an era perhaps.

It's not that I and others haven't been feeling this way lately, but the Overwatch announcement really brings it home, and shows that this gaming dystopia may be approaching faster than expected.  Consider how much money went into Dragon Age 3 and ME3, and Fallout games and Skyrim, and Assassin's creeds.  There will probably be devs and passionate designers trying to bring these ideas to life, but when their budgets for doing so get cut in half to make way for gaming as spectator entertainment, will they be as long, as well made, as cutting edge?  Will they be released as frequently?  Will they get DLC treatment?

TLDR: Get off my lawn, e-sports.
