And please be gentle, some of you guys are awful mean. :)

So you are REQUIRED to use their Stationcash option?

Word to the wise, they are not making you do anything and if you don't like it quit being a little nancy and cancel your sub leave the rest of the world to their own.  Not to mention this has been talked to death for the last few days use the search function and vent in on of the already exhisting threads.

I would have canceled my subs last month BEFORE I would have paid for the expansion! 80 euros total!!

That's what is the issue here!

I dont give a crap about this system. They said it would NEVER come into EverQuest 2.

More even so, that they DELIBERATELY waited till couple weeks after the TSO expansion and kept it all secret to MAXIMISE expansion sales!  As they knew lot of people would have canceled and NOT buy the expansion if they announced this lets say end of october / early november.

I don't know what SCAM means in your dictionary. But in mine this is a SCAM. Pure and simple!

And when you look into their feedback thread on the official forums, then you will see that a lot of people feel the exact same about this.

Cheers

dude, you got too much time in your hands to be angry at something like this...

Also after the merges are complete we will be opening up new ‘fresh start’ servers in both the US and EU territories. One each for PVE and PVP rulesets. Transfer will not be allowed to these servers after the merges. These new servers are designed to allow players to start afresh in a totally new environment should they wish to do so and forge a new community instead of joining one of the newly merged ones.

To me this is the best part of this announcement. Giving players a chance to start on a server that has not been "tainted" by all the previous exploits is a very good idea.

If they also keep them free from playing staffmembers they would actually be a reason to give AoC another try.

that reminds of of the horny GM episode....

You start out using a Hammer, and your skill is pretty good with it. Later you find a decent sword and start using that instead, and now your sword skill is about even with your Hammer skill.

You have commissioned a guildee to craft you a really nice sword. You gave him the gold to buy the items for it, and he's working on it. Your sword will be ready, he says, in a couple of days, right after he finishes a couple of other orders.

You go out into the wilderness, and you fight a Mob that drops a Hammer. This Hammer does a few more hit points of damage than the sword you are currently using, but not as much damage as the  sword  your  friend is crafting for you.

On the way back to town, will you use your Sword, or this new Hammer you just found?

This is too much pressure, l would just delete my character and give away my computer...

Multiplayer- (Guild was has over 3million players)

Online- Guild wars is online play only.

Role- you play the role of one of ten classes.

Playing- you do play this game, and it even has a real story to role play tru, with cinematics and voice work.

Game- It is a game >_>

Seems like he is ok now but there is lotsa whining about MMOs here.

Doesn't the parents have any sence today? My parents would slap me silly for that.

For you that can read swedish, here is a link:www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/recensioner/spelnytt/article3788342.ab

I like MMOs as much as the next one, and Im in excellent shape but I would never do a 24H anyways, I mean it isn't fun once you get really tired.

So when you drive for 24 hours straight and kill yourself, is it the cars fault?

Yes, and if i shoot someone in the balls with a gun, it is the gun's fault, not mine!

The DK starting area is really excellent, and Northrend - from what I've seen so far, has been quite impressive - especially the geography of the land.  It feels like they've actually put to good use the money they've been making from us.

Personally my favourite thing is seeing my friends back in game again, after we all took breaks etc, we were getting bored waiting for the expansion.  Northrend feels more consistent and epic than Outland, and I prefer the more traditional scenery.

I still haven't levelled past 70, it takes quite a lot of exp to gain a level, which is good because there is a LOT of content for each level.  Ran Utgarde keep a couple of times already, nothing particularly challenging though - though we're all in high end raid epics from TBC :p

It's kind of premature to say, but I think WOTLK will be the peak of the game, much like Velious was the peak of Everquest, being the 2nd expansion of that game.  Actually there are a lot of similarities between Velious and Northrend - lots of ice, dwarves, dragons, giants, huge bridges :p

So I figure I'm going to make the most of WoW now before it begins its slowly downward decline.  By the time the next expansion comes around, we might actually have another game that comes close to the quality and fun factor.  I guess Blizzard can go back to working on D3 and SC2 now as well :p

Pretty sure Blizzard has said they don't have plans to make more expansions for WoW. They realize that it's already become dated and in about 6 months to a year will likely become an antique (a still very popular antique of course).

Blizzard is smart enough to realize that the next expansion they would make would have to upgrade their engine and graphics design in a pretty big way. I'm not convinced they'll be willing to do that on an existing title. If anything I would expect to see either a sort of "WoW 2" (lame idea imho) or a Starcraft Online.

Not saying WoW will be going anywhere anytime soon, but I just wouldn't expect another expansion on it.

Thats right! Blizzard is so smart, that they would totally abandon one of the most successful games in MMO history, and a cash dow that brings them 11 Million X $15 = $165,000,000.00 per month, or $1,98 Billion dollars a year in subscriptions ALONE, not counting box sales. They should drop this game and totally stop it..after all, why would a company want to make that good of a profit? They must really be crazy.....

I just came to mmorpg.com and first thing I see? Another AoC article.

For kicks, I scrolled through the featured articles and AoC currently has 3 out of the 10 slots occupied. It's the only one that has more than 1 present, and I think that's the case almost constantly. Week after week, every few days, bam... brand new featured article about AoC.

I mean of course it's good to keep themselves in front of people's eyeballs, but good grief.

It kinda comes across like they're desperate to keep themselves in the spotlight; like an insecure child who constantly needs people to notice them; "look what I did! look what I did!"

Facetiously speaking, of course, if someone there had a birthday cake shaped like Conan's head, it wouldn't surprise me to see a featured article about it here.

I don't think I've seen so much coverage for that game on any other mmorpg website as I do here.

FC seems to have an awful lot of "stock" invested in this site. Although I wonder... does MMORPG seek out these articles, or does FC request an article about anything they want to talk about?

I would love to see a cake shaped like Conan's head. Maybe sandwiches shaped like the boobs in AoC....that could be an awesome birthday party....please write about it MMORPG.COM, l wouldnt want to miss it!!!

I want to start playing this game but I have a few questions before I do so.

  1. I can pick up Rise of Kunark for $10, is that the one that comes with everything? Is it worth it? yes it has it all, but there is a new expansion comming out in two weeks but you dont really need that till your 70+
  2. I am more of a casual player and I enjoy to solo quests, can I do it in EQ2? yes its casuel friendly
  3. Is it too late for me to start playing? Will I be very far behind everyone else? its a great time to starts, new patch means 1-70 should take about 100 hours or just over and 70+ is active (lower levels are a little quite but that depends on the server.) also there are always people rejoining because of new expansion
  4. Is the community helpful and friendly for newbies? very helpful

Thanks,

~Tomas

I agree with the frog colonel.

I recently stopped playing AoC....too much drama on the Wiccana server just turned me off of it....went back to WoW, and quickly got bored, after getting my guy from 67 to 70....all the armor that i got before i quit playing is worthless now, and i dont feel like spending another eternity on the battlegrounds just to get a new set of armor that will be outdated in 3 months.

I decided to give EQ2 another shot. Logged on and I am playing on Antonia B. server, I made a darkelf necromancer, decided to try out the new Neriak newb zone and joined a RP guild that is dark elf only. Man I am having a blast, and I was up until 3am....just questing and rping....it brought me back to my good old EQ1 days.

So, if you are wondering, take another look at EQ2. I am glad I did. If you are into evil RP, fun stuff, no bullshit drama, send Kalauz a tell, i m playing on Antonia B.

Also the community there is outstanding. Mature and very helpful.

Good luck!

After having posted for about a month in MMORPG I have had quite a few funny experiences. Todays Age of Conan Review was another one of those, but just a minor bump in the road compared to all other madness in this forum. I will talk more about this further down in my post, but for now, back to my funny experiences here in MMORPG; I have had so much verbal abuse for posting about this game. I think AoC is a revolution in genral to the crappy looking MMO genre. I've been called a FC employee, a Shill (whatever that is), a salesman and so on. I've also read posts, from people typically with FailCom logo, like "I want to drag Einar Elingsensen out in my backyard and shoot him","I hope all FC's devs with their families go out of business and die", and so on. I have discussed with people that actually got banned, but then turned up with a new profile 30 min later and admitted it. I've had people making up weird posts in other forums like TTH about me to undermine my integrity. The worst thing though is that posts like above often can sit for days or so unmoderated, sometime even months. This is so unheard of that there have to be more behind this than just coincidense and sloppy moderator work. The 6/10 review today made me realize this more than anything.

There are three mainpoints I want to bring up with regards to that review

1. Jef says: "Any discussion of Age of Conan is bound to get around to its visuals, and with good reason. The game is unquestionably the best looking MMORPG to date, full of eye candy both in terms of its lush environments and the startling attention to detail given to character models and movement animations. The motions are, for the most part, fluid and life-like, a far cry from the jerky, comparatively primitive offerings of other games on the market. That said, all the sexiness comes at a hefty price, namely the steepest system requirements in the genre, and the caveat that even with a three-thousand dollar tyrannosaurus of a gaming computer, you're still going to lag like a drunken wooly mammoth and experience significant frame rate issues when attempting to engage in siege combat (or really, any combat with more than a few people on screen)." This is not correct. AoC had performance and FPS issues some time after launch (according to players that played the game from the beginning). This is not the case anymore. There are hundreds of threads on this in AoC official forums, and the concensus is performance is way up. Me myself in example started playing like +3 weeks ago, and my really boring medio Rig (only nonboring part is my GeForce 8800) runs this game on high at 30-40 FPS. I have read numerous posts where people say they run AoC on high at higher FPS than WAR. So I think good old Jef took a shortcut here and recycled some after launch common knowledge. For lag, there have been some posts as of late on lag, but this is not the type of lag you will get due to high activity in an area. This is just high latency spikes that seem to drop in every now and then for no particular reason.

2. 6/10 is way too low for this very well made game. People keep telling me that the game I play has bugs. Well guess what I can't hardly find any. Game runs smooth as silk and I have only noticed one or two funny bugs til now (LvL 40s). Maybe I am not good enoough troubleshooter or a hopeless programmer (I think that would be to put it mildly), but this game looks bugfree to me. I am well aware of that every patch holds a ton of fixes, tweeks and changes for a reason, but I am saying these bugs are not glaring issues that will hamper the average user in any way. The game is totally fine in my opinion. When I started Age of Conan I was blown away. This game seriously holds the standard of Heavenly Sword and Lost Planet on Xbox360 for the guys that have tested those (and this is only the Dx9 version). This alone is a masterfull achievement for an MMO. When I started playing I kid you not, I went WTFOMGWTFOMG, this is the coolest shit I've ever seen *spasm* "I cut his FCKing arm off" lololol. I was shocked and I am still really amazed about how well this game is made. A mixture of the graphics themselves and the very welltimed smooth animations just absolutely fullfill all my demands on visuals. I could go on and on, but all in all i gave the game a 10/10 at start. Now after 44 levels I am thinking on giving the game perhaps a 9/10 as the crafting was not as good as it could have been. Anyway all this brings me to the conclusion that 6/10 is an outrageously low score. There is absolutely now way this game can get less than 7 or 8. Maybe it was those erronous FPS or bug remarks that contributed to the 6, but 6/10 for this game is way to hard. Just compare it to what other material available in the industry today and it should not be hard to realize that a 6 is way to hard on this game.

3. I am not a RPer, but I have read some of the RP guys in AoC's forums reaction on Jefs review. They are shocked that the reviewer has not found Ctrl+Y in order to pop up the emoticon UI. The game has more emoticons than any other MMOs out there and still is it not good enough. As if sheer number was not enough the animations themself holds extraordinary quality. My point is AoC is one of the better RP games out there immersed in a fantastic atmosphere which only RPers can appreciate the full value of.

There is absolutely no real reason for why you can give a game like AoC same score as Matrix Online as somebody pointed out in another thread. It is completely madness. This game holds higher quality that most Xbox360 games I can find on a PC with DX9 and you still can tell me, an ex-console player, with important professor tone that this game is a 6/10. This is just madness. You see your intentions are just too much out in the open. There is no way AoC can have a 6/10 score.  Where am I evetually going with this? Well, what this is building up to is that MMORPG and these type of forums that are doing business by advertising/reviewing games and also portioning out negative publisity through forum posting/moderation, is really not as objective as we want to belive. MMORPG lost all integrity in my eyes today as it starts to dawn on me why the forum is in the condition I described on top of this post. I am not saying it is all a scam, but I would not be surprised if there is more than an unhealty amount of influences to how this site is run. Am I paranoide, perhaps, but if you as a player think Blizz and Mythic with others are not intimidated by FC semisuccessfully launch of this beast of a game (Age of Conan), you are wrong. Because anyone launching a game that can offer better graphics and animations than Heavenly Sword in the package of a MMO is a major threat. If FC get AoC running, the momentum of this monster will blow a big hole in the whole industry. Blizz know it, Mythic know it and most of the other guys. They just need to pull strings and cross fingers till the point they have their AoC equivalent out.

Finally I just like to end this by saying; Gamers out there, 6/10 is nothing but a joke. This is a 10/10 or a 9/10 (that by the way most reviewers gave up front before game launch) game. Gameenthusiasts, Don't let them get you. Age of Conan is a fabolous game just waiting for you to enter and face the consequences of real PvP (patch 3.0).

I'll be over in AoC forums from now posting on daily basis about why FC need to wind down the money they waste on the MMORPG forum trolls. By the way, I give you remaining AoC fans the responsibility to bump this thread forever just to keep the finger up. I am out of here, Sayonara!

10/10 (9/10 for Crafters)

you got too much time in your hands bro...
