I'm a mage! I can mez m enemies and nuke them!

I'm a pet class! I can use pets and throw dots!

Seriously, every game is the fricken same. It's so funny how new entities think that they are coming out with something original when they simply rename WoW's talent tree to "feat", "spec", or "enhancement". It's all the same garbage.

Is there any game that will let you mix and match professions? Is there a game that doesn't have the same old "epic", "heritage", or "destiny" storyline? Ugh, it's gotten to the point where everyone is just so sick of it all. When will we get something new? I'm yearning for a new game where the devs just throw you into whatever virtual world and say, "Do whatever you want". There are no quests, there are no set armors (clones), and there are no items that have the exact same attributes (I want a Diablo II style looting system where the stats are totally random).

I'll be back once they come out with something new. Until then, they can all just smell my arse, as I'm sick of playing 10 different versions of WoW (Yes, I know WoW wasn't the first, but it has, however, set the first precedent and is dubbed the best).

man what the heck do u expect of MMOS? thats what they are bro. get over it.

Anger, fustration, despair and a general feeling of being a betatester, paying betatester even.

I not going to enter debate on game issues, patch issues or FunCom´s capability to produce a mmorpg game.

But I will make a humble suggestion to all the AoC gamers, who suffering the above mentioned emotions....... No game is worth so much grief.

Find yourself a new game to play, and let AoC evolve and mature at its own pace. Then when the time is right, reenter the game and enjoy it.

I have found my way back to EVE Online and it have been a blast for me, great fun and keeps me at the computer way to long.

My single point is, if AoC makes you a sad panda, then let it go ..... Dont stay and suffer, just let it go and find a new game for a while

but of course I could be all wrong and bioware is about to develop one of the biggest sandbox style games the world has ever seen, right after ultima online and pre-cu star wars galaxies, we will see :)

and you know this will happen because......???

also, how can you compare AoC to Dark and light, and vanguard? they are totally different...

God I hope this is a joke post.

If you are so fucking pathetic to say "my game beats your game in sales" then you are almost too fucking ignorant for words.  Almost....

If you like your game so much then play it instead of trolling here with fucking worthless posts.

It's worth as an "MMO" should not even be seriously debated considering this very clear truth.

Further, this game in my opinion has the potential to damage the overall genera, bringing the core of what an MMO is to new lows.

Please don't misunderstand me; I'm not trying to attack anyone personally. I'm trying to point out that the sole reason this corporation (Funcom) made this game is to try and tap into a bigger market. In other words they are exploiting our genera for financial gains and we as MMO gamers should consider the damage it has the potential to cause to it.

Again, I'm not attacking anyone personally but consider the damage World of Warcraft has caused. It was such a hit ($$$) that every other, more complex MMO tried to emulate it. In effect, dumbing down the genera.

I like to compare World of Warcraft to pop music because pop music is very shallow and easy to understand and (admittedly) fun to listen to, and it out sells all other styles of music (by a large margin).

Pop music has damaged other styles of music, like country music (which today is candyass pop-fluff w/ no soul), ditto pop punk rock and nu metal.

It is in this way that these watered down MMO's are going to damage our genera. You can say that it does not matter, that it's just another duck on the pond - but I respectfully disagree.

In fact, I've lost much hope for the genera. These corporations ruin everything. Music is milked ruthlessly and turned into shallow trends, punk fashion is sold in mass chain stores like Hot Topic, it never ends.

They destroy the essence of whatever it is they are trying to exploit-for-profit.

MMORPG's are no exception.

I'm out.

something so ridiculous could only have come from a star wars galaxy crybaby who still dreams of SWG before NGE and now wants to spoil for everyone else. get a life bro...

"The communication also failed due to the completely closed official forums. That's right - you can't even read the forums unless you have an active Age of Conan account. Funnily they even "banned" all the accounts created using preorder product keys that couldn't fit into the botched Early Access - so not only were you unable to join the game with your friends, you couldn't even read the forums. I'm still baffled by the motive behind all this. I can understand limiting posting privileges to paying customers, but is Funcom so afraid of negative comments that they have to hide what players are saying about their game from prospective customers?

Then came the blunder of the year. Eidos and Funcom managed to ship a faulty batch of EU Collector's Edition boxes at launch with non-working product keys. No word on how widespread the issue was, but in any case it took Funcom more than ten hours to publicly acknowledge the issue on the official forums, and most people are still in the customer support email queue waiting for working keys. The related thread on the official forum has over a thousand posts by now, and that's only from people who already had a working Early Access account - those who just bought the CE and were unable to create their account couldn't even read the official forums to find out what's up - let alone complain. The official community page still has absolutely no mention of the problem, and the whole site feels like the work of a PR agency.

Funcom also appears to fail in other ways at MMO Communication 101 - If you nerf something, you put it in the patch notes. Period. Players will find out either way, and if you didn't tell them, your forums will turn into a pool of hot magma. The game is just a few days old, but they already managed to sneak in couple of nerfs for some of the most obvious balance issues. What annoys me is that they did not mention the changes anywhere. "

...

"While Age of Conan is, at times, very beautiful, it's also maddeningly inconsistent. The visuals are best described by a single word - "uneven". There are places where you can take postcard-quality snaps, and there are places where you see something that looks like it was lifted out of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and then made uglier. "

"Far more fundamental issue is the design decision to go instance-happy. Age of Conan is heavily instanced and zoned. ...  Same goes for constant, if short, loading screens - heck, when you are resurrected, even by your group member, you get a loading screen before you are on your feet. "

"The content also has another fairly annoying issue. Many quest-related points of interest inside zones are designed with a single person in mind. Should you wish to level up with a group of friends, or happen to the area with several other people doing the same quest, you will run into problems. While mob kills are credited to everyone in group, looting quest items - either off mobs or off the ground - often isn't, and you will end up waiting for quest respawns a lot."

"Experience from kills is split evenly in group without any grouping bonuses, and as experience from kills is a substantial part of the expected advancement curve, group leveling will run you into trouble as you run out of quests and have to resort to grinding - all because the monsters you killed during your quests gave you only fraction of the experience you would have gained if soloing. Effectively the only way to level at the moment is to solo or duo. There are some "group" flagged quests that support 3-4 man groups better, but even they are not that difficult, and are often quite soloable. Some may consider this to be a good thing, and it's said that you can level to 80 completely solo if you choose, but in my book the poor grouping support is a downside.

Funcom did add an "epic" mode to all the adventuring zones just before launch and it seems the idea is to address this very issue by offering the choice of "solo" or "group" versions of zones. The problem is, whole Epic mode is very much unfinished, and the only practical difference is that the mobs in the Epic version of the zone got their hit points bumped up. That's all. Extra risk without any extra reward. "

"What disappoints me is the design choice made with questing - Funcom wanted to be "realistic" with limited inventory space, but at the same time they provide players with a full map and GPS system with dynamic quest updates. You can safely ignore all the quest text and just look up the arrow, head that way, X marks the spot and by the time you get there, it's usually obvious what you need to do. Quest items glow and can be seen a mile away, and even quests that ask you to "kill X mobs" show up on the map with clearly defined spawn area of the mob in question. All that text and dialogue is wasted as you can just click through the conversation (no, 99% of the time those dialogue options don't really matter) and zoom onwards based on your map and quest indicators. "

Given such fundamental faults I personally would rather give that 50% on a 100 scale, but a 5 point scale of course does not allow such nuances. I can only HIGHLY suggest to anyone who is interested in AoC to WAIT at least a couple of months and see the new reviews then.

i dont give a shiz, i love the game, and if anyone wishes to find out if they really like the game or not, they have to try it out for themselves. enough said.

It's looking very good for WAR, the more I look at it, the more I feel WAR will be a huge succes, I mean by the milions, maybe a few milions but that's a lot, maybe really hurting WOW if it is good enough. Sadly by good I mean appealing to the masses, this is the only fear I have.

EDIT:  I changed the title, since it's not clear anymore that it's really going that bad.

OLD TITLE:  AoC dropping like a sack of potatoes. Green light WAR.

I personally dont care what everyone thinks. I love the game, i m sold and hooked. Now back to playing it...

I Launched and unfortunately I was at the Initial Screeen when my PC Locked up....and now it is doing a Verify Resource Database. My fault since I BARELY If at all make the minimum Specs.

I got a feeiling they are going to let us all "In" and are probably just taking the overload now and dealing with it now instead of waiting to the games supposed launch of Tuesday.

What is going on? Are we supposed to be able to go into the stores and Buy the game or were a few just selling the full retail version only? I can;t imagine I just bought a Game that I can;t play til Tuesday.

ROFL.. hahaha I hope your not serious.. LOL

The only people that are in right now are the early access people and they get a 3 day headstart. You knew what date the game was going live to the general public yet you come here and make yourself look stupid. For this very reason I hope your being sarcastic.

Wow, calm down E-THUG, drop the hate....
