People who say its purely a mob grind after 25 are lying. Between gathering, crafting, pvp and instance runs i always have enough xp to never "grind" a full level.

People this day and age want to be held by the hand and be spoonfed levels. Aion isnt that type of game.

Yup, which is why I think the so called "grind" is going to weed out alot of whinners and crybabies. I love that Aion isnt easy. I didnt sign up to play WoW again. I signed up to try a different type of MMO. And Aion is exactly that.

Yeah, Aion is a rough game, and it takes a while to level, and move up, and people don't like hard. if you don't like hard they can play WoW.

Truthfully, FPS games won't be superior to MMO's, Everyone has their own play style and their own games they like, I happen to like both. but imo mmo's have better communities than FPS's cause FPS's are mostly filled with cocky bastards that think they are better than everyone and talk shit. but most, not all.

Why? Because part of long term playing of an MMORPG is a player reputation based on how they treat other players in the game. It allows some guy to be a creep, stalk you all over a game then be able to go change their name and come after you again attempt to regain trust only to stalk you more.

Why would any game want to allow for change of username? It is the worst  Idea I have ever heard.

Being a girl in an mmo and constantly stalked by creeps, it is hard enough to keep them at bay, this type of system only allows for them to be able to be an ass for years then go change their name and follow you around more.  Are they trying to run women off? is that what this is supposed to be a " girl repellant for games"

Who thinks of these stupid ideas?!!

Just pretend to be a Guy, since 75% of male players play Female characters anyway

I would sound like a pretty funny guy on vent. LOL

Lol, i wouldn't be in vent with people i didnt really know anyway, if its your guilds vent, then why are you still in there if people want to stalk you?

Will AION fail?

Just was curious what other people thought.  I played the open beta and realized that the game was pretty horrible.  I mean the camera system wasn't too useful when it comes to PvP, seems like a clunky interface and the PvP is going to consist of people hitting chains mindlessly.

Also, Is their whole endgame really going to be PvP?  It really annoys me when these carebear games come out and try to act like they are some kind of hardcore PvP game when they are basically catering to this audience: The people who suck at PvE so much they PvP.  Really, if the game was for PvPers then why isn't there a hardcore server where you can kill anyone at any level in any zone?  Currently it looks like there is a certain level restriction on PvP and also much of the PvP is focused in instances/artificial zones or specific zones.

What happened to games where you could PvP anywhere at any time?  That would be a real PvP game.

you talk about the clunky interface and camera, But in fact almost ALL MMO's have the same exact shit, besides the few 2d ones out there.

I´m having a blast. lvl 30  today. Tons of quest and fun content=)

Cool! So, please, a short description of what you are doing in Aion perhaps?

I have a lot of quests, most people think after 25 they must level in the abyss, which is retarded, at 30 herion comes has tons of quests on the Eylsea side, and i've been there and im 34 now and still have quests they yeild 300k + exp.

so please, when you say there is nothing to do, EXPLORE!

I agree with everything here and more. Boring gameplay, linear as hell, KSing, no pvp till 25, could fall asleep fighting(click a skill, then another, oh look a combo skill, over and over), terrible kid like sounds, nothing new in the least. Before i got to any of these gripes, I couldn t get past the boredom.

You just described every MMORPG on the market. I guess this genre not you cup of tea. Play something else instead and get out.

Every MMO. Hmm lets see, FFXI not boring or linear story. When people still use renkei, not click click little icons, needed to be timed right. DAOC, reactionary combat, fun pvp, and no wings which is a plus in my books. These are just 2 games that dont funnel you down a little path to the supposed great pvp the game has to offer. I could go on but no point arguing with you since you know all about every game on the market.

You're kidding? FFXI was the most boring MMO ever.. not to mention RETARDED, as a noob playing that game you have no idea what to do, the mechanics blow, the only good thing about it is the name it comes with.

I don't believe that anyone on these forums or even NCSoft themselves have called Aion "Innovative" (other than char customization, which it is), so why is so important for you to tell us it isnt?. I would like to hear what you suggest for MMO-gamers to play instead. Yes, Aion is the same kind of MMO we have seen over and over. But you know what? Some people are actually INTO those games! I myself cant wait for Sep 20.

+1.

I think Aion will Succeed, it's an overall Awesome game, i like it, the little OBT problem they had was fixed within 24 hours, idk why people were judging the game after the firstday obt came, it was quite annoying

Doubt it

they have the servers down for maitnence

Yeah, I can't wait for launch, This game will be absolutely awesome, and there will ALWAYS be the flamers that feel they are right about everything that ever comes out of theit in signigicant mouths that feel the need to down a game because they cannot play it. But it's okay.

This is officially the worst reason not to buy a game....in history!

So someone will know my favorite type of porn, and most likely watch it also?

Kinky.

Win....

But, +1 on if GameGuard  was a rootkit, game would not use it, they'd be super sued.

ToR is not going to be like Galaxies.

Downloaded the Free Trial .. started to play he clunky graphics and limited movement.  This game is by far the worst Online game I have ever played.

At the time of release for SWG, the game was very fun.  Bugs and nasty perks aside, it was fun and engaging.

6 years later ... which is decades in video game years ... this game is not a top notch MMO.  It is actually a shell of its former self.  However, the review you gave is 6 years too late to be relavant and holds no merit.

SWG was never a top notch mmo.

Actuallly, I'm pretty sure, before CU and NGE the game was the best on the market.

i cant see how the future of gaming and this survey are linked. if anything, i'd say this is linked to waste several minutes of my valuable time for nothing

What if he is the chief executive for the next Blizzard's MMO?

The CEO at Blizzard would commision a study. This guy is is the CEO of the latest F2P(RMT) grinder at best. :)

If you think it's a waste of your time don't take it, he's just trying to get some help, as you see in his post that he is studiying game design and development.

I have created a few surveys for the MMO genre. I am studying game design and am interested in the needs of fellow gamers. This is my first post of these surveys just to see the feedback I recieve. Please answer these questions with an honest opinion, and feel free to make comparisons to games that may have or lack these qualities.

I value your opinion; your comments or suggestions are welcomed.

1. When playing a trial of a game, what do you feel your limits in-game should be?

2. Graphics aren't everything! But do you feel that at first glance, players will be more attracted to a game's graphics than it's features?

3. What are your thoughts on PvE leveling? (grinding and questing)

4. What are your thoughts on forced PvP (to grow in level or rank) vs. casual PvP (PvP at your choosing via battlegrounds or specific PvP areas)?

5. Would/Do you enjoy the option to customize items in-game?

6. What are you thoughts on class balancing? Do you think it hinders class diversity?

7. What is your preference regarding in-game economy (crafting based, loot based, or other)? Explain.

8. Would you rather belong to a faction determined by your race (chosen at beginning of game) or have the ability to choose your faction independently? What is your ideal number of factions in-game?

9. End-game, what options do you enjoy having? What are options you would like to have that other games have not offered?

10. What do you look for in a game's expansion? (adjustments, new content, etc.)

1.) No limit, To get the real feel of the game. i hate the trials where you can get to only level 10 or 20, and it only gets fun at like level 30 or 40

2.) Lets be Modern, none of the bullcrap 2-D crap that's is out, but most definatly the features.

3.) I love Questing, and a little grinding, it has to be a good mix of both. and the quests can't take 10 years to complete, it will lose my interest quickly.

4.) I love the way PvP was in SWG pre-CU, i want in more games. if you were Overt, you could fight anyone anywhere, of the opposing faction, constantly on your toes.

5.) i love customizeable items, Colors, Detail, All great features.

6.) I Don't Care how much you try and keep classes balanced, it won't happen. Ever.

7.) I like the idea of  Auction house/bazaar, being able to sell items to other players, loot and crafted, loot and crafted items should't be binded to one char till it is worn either.

8.) I like being able to chose my faction later in the game, not determined by race, i like the idea of 2 or 3 Main factions, and sub factions that can neutral or on either side of the main factions.

9.) I dislike most endgame, cause, there is really nothing to do anymore. i look for being able to work for things even after endgame or having stuff to do that isn't repeditive.

10.)Fixes, Content, Adjustments,, it depends on what you're talking about,

I'd Choose Girlfriend.....

Just saying.

Will Aion fail?

silkroad online as been full 18 hours a day for at least 3 year

sro cather to the same area of the world as aion right now

america almost dont play sro because of the impossiblity of getting online

that will never happens lol sro probably got around 20 million people world wide waiting to play sro

wow never had that, neither did aion ever had all of their server full 18 hour a day since lunch

yes in america we might think the number of player playing sro is a lot but remember one thing asia is a big market

just china and india alone make a market of 2.6 billion people so lets say only 5 % of  them are game witch is probably very conservative of me it s a 130 million gamer market  minimum right now

that why when you see sro or any f2p game out there in those area and compare aion im sorry but aion isnt a big succes for those market

First let me say that I have played SilkRoad. Not only is it terrible it's also full of bots. Tons and Tons of bots. It's no wonder it's hard to login with hundereds upon hundereds of bots running 24/7.

As far as 20 million, good for SRO *golf clap*. I'm glad so many people (and bots) are enjoying it.

And to compare a F2P to a P2P in countries where the vast majority of the populations do not have 24/7 internet access because they barely make enough money to buy food to survive is just, well, dumb.

took the words right out of my mouth.
