Check out Within Temptation's song called "The Howling." It was written for TCoS. I love it.

I can't wait. The only issue I have is that the mountain in the first picture appears to be rather flat. By that I mean that it doesn't have seperate jutting rocks etc. Is it just me?

I had the same problem with the station launcher a while back to, same thing happened with every game...it kept missing out complete patches....the only way I was able to solve it was to create shortcuts for each  game and dump the station launcher.

No problem, thanks anyway.

I've posted on the official forum. Let's hope they can somehow help me before the end of the month. I need to download it before then otherwise my data cap resets. They don't cap me on the last day of the month

Will that link download the entire client or just the trial? Apparently the trial is only a 1 gig download as opposed to the actual client being much larger. I'm on a data cap you see

I'm excited for it. I'm not sure if I'll play it on release...as there are many games I'm in the mood to try...but who knows!

Glad they're offering a trial from the start.

I was wondering whether anyone here could help me.

When I download the Vanguard trial from the official website, I have to install the Station Launcher first. The problem is that the launcher gets stuck on downloading file 3/10. After a few minutes I get an error message stating that the files were inaccessible because I lack sufficient permissions.

I'm logged in as an administrator and I have disabled all firewalls. I really have no clue as to what the issue could be. I experience the same issue trying to install Everquest II. Running Windows XP SP3 (tried EQII with SP2).

This however is no longer the case. Guild Wars is now the ultimate grind fest. As most of us long time players have already completed all the campaingns and most of the PvE content there is little left to do. In most games you try to gain high level items to show yourself to be a dedicated , high level player of the game. This is not possible in Guild Wars as all items of max level can be easily obtained, hell, you can just buy em if you want to. So, all that leaves us to do is try to obtain titles to show how great we are. Title hunting in guild wars is the absolute biggest grindfest in MMO history. Spend 10,000 minutes drunk, no thnx. Identify thousands of gold items, nah. Open hundreds of chests to get nothing, no way.

Guild Wars is no longer a grindfest simply because of titles. Titles are a small part of the game which you have the CHOICE of persuing or not. No one is forcing you to obtain them.

A game which is a grindfest is one which forces you to grind in order to progress - usually in the form of levels, reputation points etc. Titles are for cosmetic reasons and bragging rights only. If you cannot play a game simply for the fun of playing it and feel the need for "bigger and better things," it's not the game's fault.

I beg to differ.  Look at any of the title tracks since Nightfall came out: Sunspear, Lightbringer, Vanguard, Asura, Dwarven, Norn, Kurzick and Luxon.  Each of these title tracks offers rewards in the form of skills that invariably make your character more powerful: some of these skills are absolutely necessary in certain dungoens in EoTN (LoD, for one).  The higher your rank in these tracks, the more powerful you become via these skills.

My very first ranger, which I created in July of '05 when I first joined this game, has 2.5 million xp so I've played him a lot over the years.  To obtain the rank of Undercover Agent (40,000 Vanguard points) in the Vanguard title track - at the current pace of progression - will require farming the same Vanguard missions over and over again at least 4 more times.  That's if I want my Vanguard Assassin Support to produce a lvl 18 Assassin.  And I've already run through 2 complete hero books and 2 partials just for Vanguard.

If progression in any of the title tracks were XP, this game would be at the top of the list of biggest grinders ever made.

Grinding has indeed replaced progression as a way to take people's minds off the fact that the devs can't produce new content quickly enough.  Title tracks were added to keep people busy between campaigns.  EoTN's grind was added to keep people busy until GW2 comes out.  Nothing wrong with that, just sick and tired of grinding.

BTW, does anyone even go to DoA or Urgoz's Warren anymore?   Think I'll check in and report back with a population report.  :)

I'll give you that one...but one has to remember that the entire game does not revolve around Eye of the North dungeons. I will in no way attempt to say that one does not need to grind for Sunspear or Lightbringer points under certain circumstances, but it is not necessary to experience the game in the larger sense. Unlike a game such as WoW, you aren't forced to level in order to finish the game.

Why is that an issue? I would understand if you needed to level up to PvP or something along the likes, but you can create PvP characters from the start. What is the difference between playing through the campaign as a max level char or playing as a non-max level char? There isn't one. You may as well not be playing the game as the entire point of PvE is the storyline, which has nothing to do with your level.

I hate trolls. I mean if you don't like a game - fine - but we don't want to hear about it! Really...if it's so bad I'm sure you've got something better to occupy your time with otherwise you'd be playing.

But your name is not a good comparision, this is more like a band saying that they play a certain kind of music. GW is at another class in games than Wow and everquest, the game is more like Neverwinter nights than wow. That is a good thing. Also the story in GW is far better than that in any MMO in existance.

But I still fail to see what it matters what people call the game? More than 5,5 millions sold, that's more than most of the MMOs put together (yeah, not counting wow off course).

Fort Aspenwood is 8 vs 8 as opposed to Alliance Battles which are 12 vs 12.

With regards to GW being in a different class, how so? It follows almost exactly the same basic structure other than the fact that the world is entirely instances. The fact that it may have a better storyline, in your opinion, is irrelevant.

Guild Wars isn't dying. It's simple math really.

Of course back then there would have been more people in the Prophecies and Factions areas, because those were the only two campaigns that existed. Now people are spread out between four areas, meaning that people are indeed going to be less common in those areas.

Also, one would find it logical that with time people will level their characters and many would move on to PvP. I am one of those. I don't PvE anymore. I only really log in to PvP as I've done just about everything else. PvP is, however, a different experience each time which keeps me coming back for more.

Some people have an issue with the instances and the fact that you can never have more than 24 people in a "playing" area at once. I, however, still consider myself to be playing the game whilst standing around in town, selling good to merchants etc. where many hundreds of people are at once. I therefore consider it an MMO.

So what if ArenaNet call it a CORPG? Does that fact that someone calls me by my surname change the fact that my first name is what it is?

Elementalists and Rangers are two of the strongest professions, lol. Plus, as a Warrior you shouldn't be worrying about healing yourself. That's the Monk's job.
