You do realise the genre of games you're playing is mmoRPG. In other words, the core gameplay is supposed to be centered around roleplaying. Of course in most cases these days it isn't, but that doesn't change the fact that that's the tier it falls into.

Anarchy Online is still one of the best games out there. When you say it's dated, I take it you mean graphics because a single night is nowhere near enough time to judge a game. At that rate you're going to be back to the hack and slash MMOs in no time...

Adding more of a story Which I like. Open world...which I am neutral about, and pvp/pve servers. Which from what i understand you can freely move around. The big downer for me is the level cap raise...Another grind fest is NOT NEEDED look at the list to your left, all but 2 of those games are GRIND FESTS I will not buy GW2 when it comes out. I will wait a month or 2 after to see and ask around about it If its a grind fest in any way then Ill stick to Guild wars 1 I know about 50 players in GW1 who already don't plan to leave for GW2 and im sure there are thousands of them out there, Sure lets say 80% of GW population goes to GW2 then of those 80% 30% come back because they didn't like it...there would be enough players to keep GW1 up for a while. Im just assuming this because its what happened with EQ1

Do a little more reading. ArenaNet have specifically stated that the level cap will be raised, but purely for cosmetic reasons. In other words, your skills and attributes will still be capped at level 20 as they are for example, but you can still gain levels. Those levels will mean nothing. It's a way of "rewarding" those players who put much effort into a single character. The casual and hardcore players will be catered for.

Anyway, I'll be pre-ordering the collector's edition if there is one.

ArenaNet know what they're doing. One of their main aims is highly competitive PvP. A cash shop would give some players an unfair advantage, therefore I highly doubt they'll have a cash shop.

Yes, but even so, it will still be playable and especially forthosethat want bonuses from the Hall of Monuments...  that in itself will bring new players to GW1 as they will want the Hall ofMonuments goodies too

At present we can only assume that, as we do not yet know exactly what we'll be getting in GW2 as a result of the HoM.

That does not sound right to me, as for each level takes longer.

My primary motivation is that the game was too easy. The leveling is trivial, little to no danger of dying. Kill X of these, Y  of that, the zones are small and cramped, packed fully with mobs, you just stand there and spam the frostbolt over and over and over and over again. This worked for me when the game mechanics were new but now it is just mindbending.

I have a lot more fun in instances, where you have to work to stay alive. I was really looking forward to heroics. I want intense fights where you need to be on you toes and watch out for what is happening, not the hitting three keys and win. Getting into an instance at 65 is almost impossible. Wait is hours or so.

This is what leveling is:

frostbolt, frostbolt, frostbolt, frostnova, icelance, icelance, icelance

You killed 1/30 ogres

Then why 'play' if you aren't having fun?

How is SL not a roleplaying game? Heck, I'd say some of the roleplaying that goes on in that game is miles ahead of the roleplaying most other games involve.

Most of us do. Considering, however, that the OP is playing with a friend the grouping will be no problem. Each of them can grab 3 heroes and adventure together.

@ OP, I'd recommend Guild Wars Nightfall due to the heroes. It will compliment you as a duo well.

There should be an [IMG] code under the photo on Photobucket, otherwise just place the line to the phone inbetween a "[IMG]" and an "[/IMG]"

I tried Vanguard recently for two weeks. Good not get over the following issues:

  • ·         A tedious crafting system
  • ·         A tedious and unnecessary diplomacy mini-game
  • ·         Flickering textures all over the place. Clothing, flickering hay stacks/rocks, etc
  • ·         The ONLY MMO where your framerate is much WORSE in a dungeon than outside
  • ·         Bugged mining nodes all over the place
  • ·         A large world, but mostly empty
  • ·         Worst looking lakes ever. Does not fit with the rest of the graphics.
  • ·         Dreary, dull, un-colorful graphics, much like EQ2. It's as if someone placed a grey filter over everything.
  • ·         Falling through the world multiple times, mostly when swimming
  • ·         Bad animations. And if your computer is running at a nice framerate (above 50 FPS) your character looks like he is running at 20-25 FPS, so he looks shaky.
  • ·         Opening doors and the first thing you see is your characters eyeballs as you look through his skull.
  • ·         The UI can freeze up if you click the map and another icon too quickly.
  • ·         Walking up stairs makes the camera shake violently
  • ·         Missing objects such as windmills and doors, some appear when you get real close. Others, like windmills, flicker and then NEVER appear. They are completely missing!

Any specific reason you go about copy and pasting this into every Vanguard-related thread?

The only fact is that both of you didn't read the interview.

Strain: "Equipment is a lot more important in Guild Wars 2. You will be able find a lot of cool items that will help with character development. Why that was different in Guild Wars 1 is because we designed PvP to be focused on player skill. Nobody should have an advantage just because they played longer than others. This same problem will be resolved in Guild Wars 2 in a different way: in World PvP all players will have different levels and equipment - and that is okay. In GvG all character properties including the abilities and the equipment are adjusted so that all players are on equal ground. That way, the e-sport standard is assured for elaborate tournaments, while still allowing us to go crazy with item design."

As for the less skills, I kinda have to agree. I would like to see actually even more skills that were in Guild Wars 1.

Firstly, please do not assume you know what I have or have not done. Secondly, do you see any mention of PvE in that above quote? Sure, having stats adjusted for PvP is all very well and good, but that doesn't change the fact that PvE is going to become far more item-based than it currently is.

I didn't say that a car breaking down is an emergency.

Anyway, plenty of things can happen. One can never be too safe in this day and age. Plus, what's to stop people calling you on your landline if they don't call you on your cellphone?
