I agree with some of the posts here about the NDA protecting people from spoilers.  In beta I've only played classes that I don't intend to play on initial release for that very reason.

My guess is that the NDA will drop with or soon after the upcoming stress test, and as far as I'm concerned, that's soon enough.  They've already dropped it for the professional review sites, which tells us that the NDA is not in place just to hide bad aspects of the game.

Now that I can agree with. Including the "played classes that I don't intend to play on release".

To put it in a way that won't break the NDA. I bought the CE. And I don't regret it either.

Wow, this article hit the nail on the head. It would be abount time if they dropped the NDA. I'm a tester and have been for the last three builds. I badly want to talk about it but can't. Its only a month till release. Its time to drop the NDA and let people talk about it.

Love companions. Love them.

Why would they cut the WoD instead of Dust? The WoD has a much bigger chance of making alot of money because its an existing world with existing fans.

Well the best I can figure out, they dicided that after making one bad decison of streching themselves out, they should make another bad decision and put all of their efforts into their most risky project.

It wasnt really that, Dust is nearly finished where WoD is still pretty much pie in the sky. Why scrap the game which is close to release instead of the one thats still largley concept?

Because they will make alot more money from the WoD. No one has really heard of dust, they don't know much about it, and their base is going to be very small. There are people that are die hard wod fans. It makes more sense to put their money into something that will actually make money.

Gee, what a surprise. Greed finally took over completely.

I would suggest anyone concerned seriously about spoilers at this junction is too sensitive to be alive in this world. I am sorry for you because that must be hard.

I have been looking forward to this game so much, and I love a good story. However I never will be fooled into thinking that a story in any MMO matters to my enjoyment.

You could have told me the entire storyline to let's say, Bladurs Gate II and it would not have mattered to me. It is the little things that matter, how a joke lands etc. The story will in the end just not matter I think.

A book and a game just are not the same.

How I choose to react to it is about as interesting as it will get. Just playing in the world and PvP is all any of us should be caring about.

I say that because if you hang your hopes on the storyline you will almost always be let down.

I will be playing the game, not the story. You really think if they released all the story lines from this game into books it would be epic reading?

Also I know the story "The lord of the rings" Yet I would dearly love to play through it  in 20 different games made by 20 companies.

And I feel safe to say this will not be near as great a story as that or many others.

Just play the game, have fun, and see a doctor for that fragility :)

And you know what? Just because story doesn't matter to YOU, doesn't mean anything to anyone else. Why? Because one of the best things about Bioware games is their story. As for the story in this game... its obvious you haven't been betaing it (I have).

You just wait until the story has you bouncing in your chair and cheering out loud in the sheer joy of a twist or until you hear yourself saying that you'd like to kill that horrible npc just because he's such a total jerk to you. And wait until you see people who are having entire conversations about the different npc's and things that are happening in general chat.

Until then, don't go assuming that story means nothing. This game is NOT like other games. And in THIS game, the story is the thing. Everything else is secondary.

These stupid game companies need to stop releasing before their game is ready.

I'm in beta. I'm not worried about spoilers because people lie and it never plays out the way you think it does. My current problem is "do I want to continue to beta and spoil more things for myself or do I want to end the beta for myself and wait for release".

That was the exact reason I never tried to get into beta.

The only game recently that I can think of that someone ruined for me was Red Dead Redemption. The title had only been out a week or two, and someone posted the ending in a general thread. Got so pizzed about it I dropped playing the game for about 8 months. When I went back to play, I realized how great a game I missed out on....even took in some MP where I met some good folks.

I bet MP would of been even better the first 6 months.

I dont know what sick fascination it is that makes some folks wanna ruin anothers good times. Once TOR launches, I intend to do by best not to read any spoiler info.

Heh, yeah, I'm debating dropping beta and releasing the key so someone else can use it. I don't want to spoil more of it for myself. Its just been really hard to actually do it.

How exactly can you miss Everquest and Everquest 2's Halloweens? And what about LOTRO? Really? You mention games that are old or that no one knows about instead of three of the biggest names in the industry.

Personally, I love EQ2's halloween's the best of all. Nights of the Dead is fantastic. So much to see and do. Quests, mazes, costumes, house items, and more. Though I will never play EQ2 again due to the greed displayed by SOE, it still has some of the best holiday periods I've ever seen.

And the haunted house LOTRO introduced (think year before last) is just simply excellent, especially the first time through.

I really don't understand this complaint. Subscription fees pay the ongoing costs of running the MMO. The servers and employees do not come free. And buying the game only once plus expansions means there is extremely limited amount of money coming in. The only reason f2p isn't acceptable is because of the element of the population it brings in. If games would have better moderation (including HEAVY moderation of the live chats), then f2p would be fine.

Considering they just laid off a bunch of workers, I seriously doubt it will be released in 2012. If it ever gets released.

Sounds good, though I have never got into the WoD thing.  I guess I have a few years to catch up.

lol

I assume by personal havens, they mean player housing?

Yes, but that isn't quite right. Its not just "a house" in vampire. Haven is exactly what it says. A haven from the outside world. That normally means heavy fortification that gets heavier as the vampire ages and gains more money to protect the vampire from any invasion. There's also a place normally a place safe from the sun that you couldn't find unless you knew it was there. On the outside, it would look like a perfectly normal house, apartment, condo, etc. On the inside, if you know what you're looking for, you'll find the vampire well protected from the outside world. Unless you're really insane, incredibly stupid, or lacking in mental capacity in some way, you do NOT want to break into a vampire haven. Especially if its a Sabbat vampire.

We are introducing an old friend of my husbands to vampire right away. Vampire is something you generally passionately love, or it is something you could care less for (though I don't think I've ever met anyone that actually hated it). There really isn't much in between.

Very biased review but I guess someone has to write something good about it.

I love it... the review doesn't say the game sucks, so you say its biased. lol

What text box? There are no text boxes in this game.  I'm in beta.

Thought this game wasn't released yet.

As to the "casual" thing, every single game out there including the upcoming SWTOR is a casual player game. Enough already. Its time to give something to those that are actually more dedicated and stop babying everything down. Let everyone else have ONE game that isn't meant for baby's, children and people with no time to play.

I don't think it is too hard to make the game fun for both types of players. You can give casuals something that doesn't require being online all the time, and give hardcore's things that require a lot of activity. Allow the two to interact but not compete. Both will be happy.

In other words, the exact same thing we have in other game. Give raiding to the hardcore, and everything else to the casuals so both things suck. No, sorry, that is not right. Frankly, raiding sucks, and I'm sick of everything being casual friendly.

I think it is pretty much nailed on it will have some form of open, ffa pvp, just like their other title does. They seem to be hinting at open pvp combined with losing your humanity and potential permadeath. Hence a system that is both more free and open than and also more restrictive (in a way) then current mmos.

If someone runs around pking people at random for no reason then they will be a candidate for losing their humanity and ultimately for blood hunt and PD.

The problem is that I've been playing VTM about as long as I've been playing MMO's. I hope its more than that. Losing characters mean nothing to players, and if it is a player run world where the Prince can be a player like they have been hinting at, that relies on the player being online, not losing interest in being Prince, and  the pk'r not being about just log out when he gets hunted. Abuse of this system could run rampant.

Given that this is by far the best pnp game in the world (IMO), not implementing this correctly could completely destroy it, and tick everyone off.

MMORPG players though do care when their character is permanently erased. Hell they cry if they have items or gold taken off them, let alone a character.

 Not if they are pk'rs.

If someone is a repeated nonsensical pker and he just logs off, er well then he is deprived of the character and the game.

Only if they allow that mechanic.

As for the Prince part, someone who gets bored is not going to last at the top. Politcal mechanics may be abused from time to time but that is part of the fun. Games with no tyrants and with no ability for the players to be tyrants are neither open or dynamic.

Not really. If the person is never around to actually use the mechanic to remove them from the position, then how will it be handled? Unfortunately that question has yet to be answered. And probably won't be for along time yet.

There will no doubt be pkers, people with low humanity ratings and "bad" princes. But I'm pretty sure that's part of what CCP are hoping for in the first place.

We will see.
