Originally posted by Ozmodan Tell me something... what MMO has actually delivered anything new in the last ten years? In fact, they have slowly been removing what most considered to be features. At least this game TRIES to do something different. You just don't like what its offering. Stop acting like your opinion is the be all end all of gaming. |

For what it is, its actually quite fun, other than the need to constantly be clicking. Hopefully they will expand on space combat sometime in the future. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Modification Madness Redux
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 12/07/11 1:14:30 PM
Good write up, but I'd like to point out the reason why there isn't so many modifications. In build one and two, everything could be modded all the way up to the top level. You could keep any given gear pretty much however long you wanted. The only difference was that they had fewer bonuses to start with, you had to constantly modify your gear, and you still probably wouldn't quite be able to compete with the best gear in the game. And the players flipped out over it saying that there were too many mods, so in build three (I think) they almost completely removed modded items and mods from the game, but that went totally the wrong direction. I honestly still don't know what the problem was with the original system. I quite liked it and didn't mind all the extra mods at all. The new system that the devs have come up with is an attempt at a middle ground that they hope will make everyone happy. For me? I just want them to add the "match to chestpiece" thing we had up until last the last two builds. You could match all your armor to your chest piece so you didn't look like a rainbow. |

Originally posted by Xthos Have you ever played Vampire before? Who cares about the one race when there is so many other options. This is not a typical game system. Its very freeform in comparison to any other system. You won't feel limited. According to the employees, you will start as a human being. The way I'm understanding it, you will need to consent to being turned into a vampire. That means you can play the whole game as a regular old human if you want. And they are including ALL of vampire, not just part. So you will probably be able to be Camarilla, Sabbat, or Anarch, possibly other sects as well. There 13 official vampire clans, but a good dozen bloodlines. You could be any of them. Once again, please stop making things up and actually learn about whats being said. |

Originally posted by itgrowls Ummm, wow. Just wow. Just a suggestion... stop thinking in only the immediate. There is a bigger picture here, What is it with so many people in this world only being able to think in immediate terms instead of figuring in the big picture. Its particularly rife on the internet. So, since some seem to have refused to think beyond exactly whats written and about how MMO's work... They said that it would be VtM to start. NOT for all time. I have been to con's to see and hear WW and CCP employees talk. Vtm is their single biggest seller of all time. That's the game they started with, its the first game they revamped when they went NWOD, and it only makes sense that the first game they start with for an MMO will be Vampire. But, just like pen and paper games, other supernaturals can be added later as expansions of the system. They have NO Intention of this game remaining only about Vampire. Think. Please. As to the last few replies, you hit the nail on the head. I don't know of anyone that has any desire to play Dust. In fact, I didn't even know that game existed until they said they would put off the development turning one of the biggest pen and paper game systems of all time into an MMO to make it. Its a stupid move, and I can't believe I'm saying that since I'm such a huge WW fan but I have to admit that ending the OWOD wasn't the brightest idea either. |

Originally posted by Gravarg I have an ipod. Wish it was an iphone because its far superior to my samsung epic. My epic is slow, I get force closes constantly on any program installed and the company did a firmware update two weeks ago thats driving me nuts. Why? Because the stupid thing caused a glitch in my system that makes it so the sound during phone calls is blasting in my ear and I have to hold it an inch away from my head to talk or I'll go deaf. I've never had a problem with my ipod. If I had a choice, I'd get the iphone in a flat second, but I've only had my contract for 6 months so I'm not up for renewal yet. You had a first generation iphone. We're up to generation five. Thats a big jump. Saying apple sucks when you had a very very old version and figuring thats still the case when you haven't even used it is like saying a 1976 ford fiesta sucks in comparison to a modern ford mustang. Of course it does. Oh and the reason the iphone cracks so easily is because its made of glass and most other phones are made of plastic. Which you would have known if you had bothered to learn anything about it before you bought it, and actually buy a cushioned cover to go with it. |

The only thing that will hurt this games profits is if they shut down. This is one of the biggest IP's in the world. They've probably already made their investment back just from pre-orders alone. If not, the second months subscriptions will do it. Never underestimate Star Wars. Its not WoW but it doesn't have to be, its Star Wars. |
