A guildmate of mine is running a healing build with tanking Passives and gear. He can tank elite instances with no need for another healer. It's nuts.

Whats his build? Sounds like an interesting one to try out... I have 3 chars going atm an AR/Shotty, Fist/Blade and Ele/Blood, but these are mostly DPS w/ support healing for mostly solo stuff...I would have to be classified DPS for instances :)

 I just have a quick question for all the tech savvy...

Would a GTX 260 896meg vid card give me any significant performance boost over my currently installed 9800GT 1gig card? A friend of mine gave me the card because I am having some problems running TSW with low frame rates with the 9800GT. I know that a newer 5XX series card would be the way to go, but have limited funds atm.

 I used to play DDO quite awhile ago, and was thinking on coming back to it as a secondary game to TSW, and was wondering if they had added lifetime subs to DDO yet like they did with LotRO.

I just started playing WoT recently, mostly T1 and T2 at the moment (building up cash for T3) and thought I would comment on a couple of the OP's points, just with my limited experiance in game....

Point 1: As a T2 med tank and on my TD, I have been in several matches with arty in game. Granted, it is annoying to be knocked out in your hide position by indirect fire, but just an historical note, SPG's were developed to support armored units by supplying that indirect fire support while the scouts and heavier units assaulted the objective. That's their job. It would not be realistic to exclude the arty, they are just doing what they are supposed to do.

Point 3: As a T1/T2, I have not seen yet the spread in levels as some others in matches, but would agree here with the OP that it should be a 2-3 level spread in matches. I can just imagine being in a T4/T5 and getting nailed buy a T8-T10. Maybe set up like T1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 or 1/2/3, 4/5/6/, 7/8/9/10.

Points 2 and 4 no comment yet due to my limited experiance.

As to the last comment, I would not be in the "3/4s" that the OP mentioned.....remember, a well driven "freebie" tank can still take out a "premimum", you sometimes just have to work harder at it and plan your stratagy around your opponents strenghts and weaknesses as given by the setup in the team screen.

Right now I'm subbed to 2.....Rift and AoC.

Have lifetime subs for LotRO and STO if I want a change.

Have several Hybrids(F2P/Premium) still installed just in case, and most of the P2P games that I am not currently subbed to also installed ( EVE, WAR, CoX, ect.)

I was checking my email yesterday and got an email from "mythic" saying my billing info was updated. Now I haven't logged in to my account since 09 and 1.3.1, but thought I would check just in case. Sure enough, someone had put a 14 day reactivation on my account. I changed both passwords, but was wondering if there is a support email that I can contact, or do I have to call the support number on the email to check this out and see if any of the characters were stripped. I actually was thinking about coming back and checking out the changes because I have a 30 day card from way back that I haven't used.

Any help or suggestions welcome.

Rofl, no it hasn't. Funcom's brilliant mismanagent "managed" to alienate the pvp crowd even further, the development is still slow and retarded (meaning one patch brings along numerous bugs and exploits) and the pve is average at best (6 man dungeons are the height of pve, Funcom can't handle anything massive, including 26 mans). On top of that, the expansion is nothing but a grindfest, factions are nothing but a poor excuse to do a couple of dailies for half a year until you go nuts from repetition.

So, where did you get this idea that the game has been on the rise? From the state of the Crom server alone?

No AoC is not gaining anywhere, in fact it's getting close to slipping into the 60's.

 First off, Welcome to the game :) I play on Set(NA), but I think you will enjoy the game. It definatly has the best starting area of any game I have played. Do try to find a guild or a steady group of friends to make things easier, and the community by far is one of the better ones, with the exception of a few in global at times.

Now to the qoute of the op......

Just when did XFire become "The Gospel of all things Gaming" when it comes to sub numbers? The numbers you posted are perhaps 1-2% of the total population(my opinion only), as not everyone uses XFire or any other time/number keeping software. I play AoC and STO and enjoy them both, and I do not use XFire. What does bother me tho is that someone will always post user numbers for one of these programs, and cry "Oh noes, there were only23 people online in (insert epeen enhancing software here), th3 game is the fails"

 I believe it was, although i can't doublecheck.

And that is where most people fail. Never click on the actual link in the mail, go to the account page independently and check if you can login.

 I don't suppose there's a way to check if my crap is still in my account ?

 There is...contact Blizzard directly.....Several months ago I started getting these emails also, but I called customer support, and found that my account had not been accessed in so long, they didn't even have a record of the last time I logged in.

Also, check the headers of the emails, fairly simple to do in most email programs.

I just forward all of the "blizzard" emails I get to the hacks department.

I enjoyed the setting also...ancient Rome was one of my favorite eras in history, and the "aligning" with a roman god was really great. Minions and combat system were well done also if I remember correctly....was in the beta for about a month before perpetual shut it down.

How do you sign up for the beta testing? The only thing the website has is the signup for the newsletter which I've already signed up for. I'm interested in beta testing this game again also, enjoyed the test for perpetuals version.

I've always wanted to try L2 out, but do to other commitments and monetary issues, just never got around to the game, but then I saw that Steam was offering a deal on it w/30 days and am thinking about the game again but have a few starter questions before I commit.

1) how is the character creation in game?

2) PvP. is it open or level based? I'm not much of a pvp player, but do enjoy it on occasion if its not forced.

3) PVE. enough things to do so you don't run out at certain levels?

4) Crafting and economy? is it worth crafting and selling stuff?

5) Community. good or bad?

6) Population. game have a good pop at all levels, or will it be empty at the low/mid range since most have been playing for years.

I was in the closed beta for Perpetuals version, and I thought this game had a lot of potential. Hopefully they will keep most of what was in the last version of the game, and I also hope I can get back in to the beta for this next version.
