Ok - well I don't have the disks I paid for a digital download... but i went into the router setting and turned the dmz off... was enabled and everything seems to be working now... finally got past that file but hopefully it continues working. (crosses fingers)

haha - no luck again... and the Sony tech only had me disable all startup programs and disable my firewall... which of course didn't work.

I want my $30 back tbh... but im sure thats not going to happen.. but I still want to play the game..

I'm giving it another fresh start... and am in line to chat with a Sony tech now so hopefully will get it resolved fairly soon. I googled my problem and I saw 1 similar problem on a different forum - although he never really got a response and the tech people made him download some 15 hour thing that never did anything to fix it haha.

Oh well.. we'll see.

Ok so I posted this in the official Vanguard connection support forum yesterday but no luck yet. I've run a virus scan and deleted all the files and downloaded directly off the official website but still had the same problem. If anyone could help it would be great.

Hey I just bought the game today - through digital download - well all that worked out fine... got the download for the vanguard patcher and I started patching. Everything's normal... bought a 4 hour patch..

Does the same thing everytime I restart it or do file scan instead of exiting it out and rebooting it... just download that those 2 files and cancels... Not very good with computers... dunno if this problem is listed in this forum.. will keep checking but anyway help would be awesome.. thanks"

I'm kinda in your situation as well.. just bought a new computer for AoC (well was planning on getting one this summer but wanting to try out AoC sped up the process) and cancelled that after the month... been through every single big name mmorpg I think except Vanguard maybe? And I don't plan on trying that...

I'd maybe recommend DAoC when the origins server come out this summer... I'll probably go back to it then too... its old, but still a solid game with the best pvp system to date.. that's why I'll atleast be trying WAR.

CoV/CoH is also a solid game to try if you have some friends... but I wouldnt recommend it as a long term game because it feels like you're in the same warehouse the whole game...

nm! seems to be working now... 

Decided to do the 14 day free trial (I've played the game a lot before and have an account but wasn't sure if I could add the 14 days to my old account so I just decided to make a new one) since I haven't played DAoC in awhile.

But, when I go to make an account and fill everything out and hit accept I get an error InitClientSocket: Unable to connect to Host! Error = 10013.

Tried googling it but no luck.. it's not just when I go to create an account, but log on in general. Anyone know how to fix it? (I'm obviously not that great with these type of things.

I have seen about every WAr vid there is there was alot of " randomly running..", and "jumoing[sic] in random directions" Wow's pvp has objectives and if you have read or watched anything about WAR you know that PVP INSTANCES ARE THE MAIN FORM FOR PVP , ITS WHERE THE MOST VP (VICTORY POINTS) WILL BE GAINED, THEY ARE WHAT WILL OPEN THE GATE TO THE CAPITOL CITIES, THEY ARE MOST OF THE PVP WILL OCCUR, THEY ARE WHERE YOU WILL GET MOST OF THE PVP REWARDS. That my firends is not DAOC rvr its WoW pvp... now the fact that there will be a battle outside of instances and an over all "realm" or faction war is like DAOC... and i am happy for this... but make no mistake most of your pvp will occur inside a cubical just like it does with WoW.

That is right on ... Wow PvP is not that bad and they will have much more diversity in their Wowish settings (ie a lot more BGs), and the overall setting for the pvp is very DAocish , as you really do fight to take over your enemies land ... still its 2 sided not 3 like daoc, and the fighting will at large take place in instances, however these actions will be the major contributer to the taking over of non-instanced land.

PS. im not hating or trolling thats what odd and that why i am using the fanboy lable here becuase, i never said anything negitive about WAR , yet i am un-informed (which i assure you i am not), and i am  just wondering WHY its "lol no.. From what I understand, YES, the instanced RvR will give the most VICTORY POINTS. But is it the main focus of RvR in WAR? No. These victory points allow you to take a "tier" and if you take enough of these you can assault their capital city.

It was clearly stated that the main focus of their RvR would be to beat the crap out of the other team until you can try to capture their capital city. All the skirmishes, missions, and instanced RvR lead up to the **main focus and majority** of the pvp in WAR, capture their city.

So, sure... you are right in the fact that when one side doesn't have enough victory points, instanced pvp will hold a larger weight, but if you think people will continue to fight in their little instances once the capital city is open then you are mistaken. And just because the instances hold the most weight it doesn't mean they will be the most popular of the 3 ways of gaining victory points. Unless the numbers are drastically uneven on one side, I will be surprised if there aren't people just flat out skirmishing and bashing peoples head in on the RvR areas. (Of course this may change as the game ages and the factions set up plans and what not to capture the capital cities). You aren't forced into the instance if you don't like them. Sure, I don't think they are such a great idea either, but they won't drastically change the type of game it is and hopefully they tweak them so the people crying of unfair population advantages won't rule the that "tier."

Just because it has "WoW-type" instances doesn't mean the RvR will be remotely close. WoW's pvp was just a grind fest.

Ok, I downloaded the old interface mod given in the sticky above and extracted it to my SWG folder and logged on. Nothing happened.

Is this because it is out of date with Chapter 6 being patched? Or do I have to do something else?

If it is out of date, when can we expect a new one to be available?

Edit: Also, what does the (recommended) by the server name indicate? Because some of the server distances that are recommended are 3 or 6.. and one of them is 0. The server populations have ranged from light to heavy on these "recommended" servers as well.

Fixing to start the D/L process if not.

 So I started up the frial trial a day or two ago and patched it and everything (took quite awhile), but I couldn't manage to log in.. it would get stuck at the loading screen. Not sure why exactly, may have been the fact that I was trying to log on the most populated server during primetime... so I ended up deleting it after losing my patience.

So I was wondering, is there anywhere I can get all the patches to the game without using the Sony patcher? I was wanting to give it another shot and I'm regretting deleting it so quickly :p. I've heard if you install the actual retail game that it would shave a lot of time off... I have it somewhere but I can't locate it, it's been awhile since I've played. So if there are any alternatives, please let me know. Or I was also thinking about trying the Ryzom free trial... tried it once but I didn't like the interface (which is pretty important to me) and it was tough to figure out/

PS:  I'm praying for a kotor mmo or swg2..
