Rushed development. Those faces of the SG-1 team is all so "simplified". Total disappointment :(

A total misleading article.

Type of ships and the quantitiy of med / low slots -> modules -> skills required.

Best way to learn which ship is best for shield or armor tanking is by playing around the Eve Fitting Tool aka EFT.

IMO as a learning newbie, this article failed badly under the EvE standard.

I will try my best to fit myself into a good corp with a genuine plea for the trial account exception. Wise advice you gave, cosy, will remember it ;)

I've played every MMO under the sun about, but I've never made it past a day or so in the EVE trial because of the mega learning curve and the lethargy I feel when I think about how it seems like everyone would be so far ahead of me skill-tree wise.

Is it too late for someone to start in EVEN from scratch and enjoy themselves?

Any tips for a brand new player?

Random question: I remember hearing discussion of them adding actual player avatars for when you land in a starport or such, so you could actually walk around? Was this just grapevine trash or are they really talking about doing that? If so, when? (I thought it sounded neat. Never dug how you're only identity is a ship and a static mugshot)

ambulation is what walking around in stations is called.  it's due next  year sometime, maybe, who knows when for certain, it keeps changing.

k, that was a rambling answer.

anywho.  check the stickie, i put a link to a thread by Akita T, which gives good information for making a new character.

if you start a new character in wow.  it takes a while to get to lvl 80, correct?  then it takes a while to grind reputation with the various factions (core game, tbc and wotlk expansions all have factions to grind reputation with) and then gold to buy various goodies.  time to grind all the way thru the ranks for fishing, cooking, first aid and whatever your two "real" crafting skills are.  takes a while to grind honor thru the BGs/arena.  takes a while to grind your way thru the various tiers of pve gear to get to the current quarter's latest & greatest gear...

why does no one ever ask if it's too late to catch up to all of that?

same principle.  if it's not too late to start wow with all of THAT to grind thru in order to be competitive at the higher levels... then it's not too late to start eve.

Not the same at all. In level based MMOs, you have the option to either grind / powerlevel or through quest but in EvE, skill training is real time based and there is no shortcuts to accomplish it. All we "grind" is faction, agent standings to unlock the next level of agents etc..

With a little of understanding and determination to learn up EvE, its not difficult at all. All it requires, is patience, understanding, research and micro management.

Dont worry if its too late to start from scratch, do some reading or research in EvE official forum, or some resource site and start learning up the basics of EvE before starting your trial. Works for me as i am just like you, started fresh a week ago ;)

Midaveg plz dont play alone join in a corporation asap

I have been stalking the recruitment channel for a decent corp to join but nothing fits me as many advertised as trial accounts need not apply and since i am only a week away to full account upgrade, none could make an exception on that even.

Worse is 7/10 of the crops advertised is mostly based in Caldari space.

indeed you are very active(4 agent standing already wow) i will keep a eye on you and if you continue like that i will send ya more isk

Thanks for the isk. Eased up my spendings on skills now. I allocated 6 hours per day, split sessions for EvE and while training Level 1 ~2 skills, i settle myself on missions.

Started my 14-days trial a few days back and currently working through skills upgrades in preparation for my account upgrade early next year and looking for a generous sponsorship of ISK to support my progress.

WoW is in easy mode and that attracts many players, be it no-life or casual. So its no surprise to see WoW having high selling numbers in their expansions. Raids in WoW is nothing but timing. You time it right, you can do any instance over and over again like hot knife on butter.

I would be surprise if EQ / EQ2 have high selling numbers in their expansions..that represent how many players is up for some real challenge.

Grats on the numbers.

Those who cry about WAR being in a bad shape is like expecting a 1 month old baby to run.

Mythic, for all these years have been my favourite developer and their indirect communication have been proven a successful way to make the game our game, despite some mistakes that we cannot forgive and forget.

Looking forward for the event and have been piling up stuff for my upcoming new tank :D

WoW is no longer a game. It is a life.

I tried to play back WoW with the 10 days trial offered by Blizzard and i hardly content the gameplay and such. Respect Athene for such addiction. Read the website and for many times, Athene "cried" on quitting WoW.

True, its too early to tell based on early closed beta screens. And oh, gameplay > graphics

Its their marketing strategy.

If you notice, all NCSoft products is US/Canada restricted while Lineage 2 is US only. According to them, with localization, they would earn more than global market. But they are wrong.

Take NCSoft Asia for instance, did they cover most of the Asia countries? No, only Korea and Japan is covered. What about Taiwan, China, S.E.A regions? I wonder is Australia and New Zealand is in their map even.

I gave up NCSoft after i have major problems with the CoX payment despite the availability of getting the game in my country. Admin got the point that NCSoft regional company is differently managed and to add into the statement, these 3 companies ISN'T link but every action taken within it is inter-company decision and only thing they report to the HQ is financial and statistic reports. Competitions and trial giveaway is the regional company to do the decision, as long as the event is run under the Terms and Condition regualted by the HQ.

Stick with guildwars till Warhammer Online arrives..

Tried shadowbane yet?

No version that cater that region.
 Sorry

Not surprise seeing this. They claim that many RMTs were from these countries. I never like codemasters and i hate them even more now.

Good list! But you left out Anarchy Online from many sections.

Section 2 PvP - Faction PvP

Anarchy Online do have faction PvP. Omni-Tek vs Neutral vs Clan

Section 2 PvP - Arena / Instance based PvP

After the launch of Lost Eden expansion, it comes with Battlestation that is open to all F2P / P2P players. Its an Arena based PvP.

Section 4 Crafting - Has crafting

Anarchy Online have crafting through Trader / Fixer / Engineer profession to some extend.

Section 8 - Payment Plan - Monthly fees and box/download/activation fees

You should be specific on what is F2P in Anarchy Online and with ANY expansion upgrade will lead you to an activation fees + monthly fees.

Dont worry about not being able to get teams. Assuming that you have all the expansions, its even easier to level than only in the mainland. Shadowlands give the best exp and burst income while LE comes with a non level lock team alien missions which you get to earn sided tokens an Victory points which you will use to buy LE specified items.

IMO, we are spoiled with choice. If you are happen to be in RK-1, pst Aphelio and would be glad to team up with you.

People whine for a hardcore server when they hate the GU4, just like NGE and pre-NGE servers fo SWG.

When the Hardcore server is live, whiners will still whine for more because the hpye for Hardcore server is going offboard and no official ruleset is yet to be released.

I love the idea but they should use the resource on something else in VG.
