MO fans start spreading rumors and lies... say I work for Xsyon, getting paid to bash MO and say that MikeB (mmorpg.com community manager) is helping me do it...

Certain members of this forum do this constantly. They make sure they do not make personal attacks and they make sure that they back up their statements with reasons...to keep just inside the warning line. Seeing as how certain members of these forums posted pretty much nonstop in a specific forum for quite a while (a significant % of their overall posts)...they were probably in violation of the trolling rules multiple times.
All I did was say that a specific poster was extremely harsh on MO and got a warning for flaming. Apparently implying that someone acts a specific way is an attack, even when this statement makes sense in the context of the topic the thread was in. I've seen multiple instances where certain posts by this individual could be construed as implying stupidity on the person they are reponding to but I would doubt action was taken. It's all good though! |

Do people really think that, based on the videos of Xyson released thus far, that this game can even hold a candle to Mortal Online's potential appeal. The characters look like rejects from the suburbs and the game itself appears to be slow paced. People who have played in the limited time the server appears to be up claim that not only does the game crash...you lose everything when it does. Is this a joke?
Also, is it true this game was scheduled to release soon? The game in these videos?? |

As far as I'm aware, tons of games do this. Most online accounts of all kinds make auto-renewing the default. Jesus. |

They're currently patching the game. Supposed to be a desync/lag fix. We'll see. |

They are going for a more "realistic approach" to the game. Realism in this case apparently means that even though your character has grown up in this village and is now 30 years old, he has no idea where anything is in town.. or nearby and must "explore" to find everything. There is also no compass in game and no navigatable points like a NorthStar to get your bearings.
There are points in the game that you can use for navigation. There's no doubt that it's easy to get turned around out there when you travel away from towns but that's part of the fun. I'm not going to lie. There have been times when I've been running/riding from one place to another and wished for a map but I definitely get a nice feeling when I finally find the place I was looking for. I feel like I actually accomplished something. I haven't had that feeling in a while. |

There's a usable/draggable macro button on the taming skill page of your skills panel. Just drag it over to the hotbar like you would any other skill. |

Yup, same for commanding your pet.
True This is all straight up wrong. Taming has a skill and you do NOT have to type '/tame' to tame animals. There is also a little gui for controlling your pet. It's the little llama looking button near the center top of the screen. |

UO was a great game for many different reasons. It contained all the different types of players and put them into one world and let them do their thing. PKs (which split into different subsets like griefers or pvpers), Anti-pks (opportunists or pvpers) and crafters/etc would all play their different play styles in the same game. It was the INTERACTION between these different types of players that made the game fun. UO's 3/4 view interface allowed players to see anyone within range which is a much different style of combat than it's 1st person successors. The precasting involved with magery and dynamics of the game (certain spells being used to interrupt your opponents casting) were fantastic for pvp strategy and skill. Every player having access to a self-heal spell as well as other methods of healing were also excellent and developed an awesome pvp dynamic. UO's downfall was multifaceted and took time. Adding stat loss to murderer death (thus eliminating a significant amount of the PK players) was a major hit by eliminating one side of the interaction process. Trammel also took it's toll by removing the interaction between the different player types. I could go further but I'm far too lazy to try to think of all the different ways that UO was ahead of it's time. I still occasionally go back and play UO-Hybrid but you still don't get the interactions that were in the original game. The MMO market is so saturated that different play styles go to play in a different game if they don't like the rule-set. Ah well. |
