Space combat: 6 minutes presentation from PAX
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 3/18/11 8:00:33 PM
I like it but it would be sooo much better if you could get a friend or friends to join you on your ship to operate the rear rotational gunnery while you fly and operate the main guns. Other players would have first person view of targets. Pilot third person of entire ship as per video. Pobably awkward to impliment but awesome if it can be done.
Also mass space battles where multiple players operate the main guns on a battle cruiser in a crusier vs cruiser gunfight with all hands lost to the loser. You could also have some players in small fighter craft supporting the main craft.
Huge scale PVP (and a bit Eve online ish) |

Housing is very important to a game IMO and the more you can customise it the better. Thats why UO has great housing. You can build it brick by brick. None of this pre fabricated housing rubbish. |

The Secret World: Getting a Little Less Secret
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/18/11 1:33:34 PM
The game looks interesting however it would appear that Funcom are annoying potential customers before you get chance to do anything.
Forum password reactivation protocol has a question that is apparently a RANDOM question. The question is ALWAYS Who is the game director of The Secret World? No mattter what answer you give it says you are wrong The answer is Ragnar Tornquist You have to answer this question to reset password or register or even use the forum search facility. Stupid F--ing Funcom

General: Richard Garriott: "Lord British" Social Game
News Discussion « General Discussion 3/15/11 7:24:27 PM
Wow if UO was released in September 1997 then I have been playing MMOs for 13 years as I started in UO in Jan 1998 when i first became aware of it. I think it was demo'd on a disk in a magazine such as PC World or .NET I was absolutely amazed with it and fondly remember my character, Lysander Threat of Trinsic. Those were the days. I played nothing but UO for about 3 years before I devided my time between UO and DAOC. Back in 1998 you could have a sandbox open PVP full loot game without idiots ruining it. Nowdays that is not the case as Darkfall proves. I wish Lord British all the best in his future plans *salute*

Long time MO supporter leaves the game and tells why!!
General Discussion « Mortal Online 2/24/11 4:03:57 PM
I was in the process of downloading the trial (was involved in the beta but only for a week or so then work got in the way).
I am no longer downloading the trial due to one sentence from the post on the MO forums linked above
One of the things that drew a lot of players to support MO include the fact that it was announced as a sandbox, where players would not only change the world, but be given the ability to shape the world, write it's history, make it the way they wanted it, and if others got in their way, there would always be combat and war to force it if necessary. But the core idea should have been that this is a sandbox MMO with open pvp as an intricate part, not a pvp world with sand.
Sandbox = great. But the open PVP being the main driving force for the players make this sound just as bad as Darkfall. Open PVP is fun dont get me wrong however it is ALWAYS abused by a certain type of player. You know the type.

This trial thing even worth the download time?
General Discussion « Mortal Online 2/24/11 3:48:38 PM
I was in the beta about a year ago and was somewhat taken aback by the size of the world and dismayed at the amount of bugs that existed.
Am downloading now to see if it has improved but the patches are taking forever (6 hours so far and only half way through second patch).
Tempted to give up. Will at least give up for today and if the patch doesnt carry on tomorrow from where it left off I will abort the entire thing. |

Star Wars: The Old Republic: Gordon Walton Leaves Bioware
News Discussion « General Discussion 2/16/11 12:16:48 PM
Never heard of him Could not care less. I have changed job twice in the last three years. No biggie. Also I went to school with someone of the same name, doubt if it is the same bloke seeing he was an overweight layabout who seemed more interested in the contenst of his own nostrils than any career path (Sorry Gordon) |

Hubs being taken over by mobs is cool but not new.
I remember this happening from time to time in Ultime Online. Granted it wasnt day in day out every couple of hours but it did happen and it was sometimes without any warning.
I remember being at the South Trinsic bank once and was suddenly surrounded by undead . . . . oh dear! |

By coincidence I have Friday off work which is the UK release date. I am looking forward to the release and fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and turns out to be more worthy a superhero game than Champions Online.
Have my first char already planned including origin details |
