If CCP had $$$ signs in their eyes then how come they allow my rl friend to support 4 accounts without paying a dime due to PLEX cards?  Seems counterproductive to allow established players the ability to easily garner the resources to buy game time with ingame funds to support four accounts to run simultaneously.

In the next  update the ground combat gets revamped like a true fps.

When will this happen?

The ground combat update is tentatively scheduled for july 7th per the last engineering report at:

http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=215552

I do not believe it will make the game like a true fps but will allow for mouse targeting and a few other upgrades.

Cheers!

I love how the word 'accident' gets thrown around.  Accident sets the presumption that no one was at fault.  A play fight that leads to two people crashing out of a 10th story window.  Tragic end, but the world accident just doesn't come to my mind.

Cheers!

Yep.... Money talks. That's really all there is to it.

WoW does what it does well, but it didn't really break any new ground. This is why people dislike WoW. It's gotten so successful for being meh. I mean I honestly thought TR was way more innovative than WoW could have even dreamed, but TR got canned. I didn't pay money for it though...

The only innovation I am seeing right now is TSW and maybe GW2 with respect to big money companies. Heck even AoC and AION have more innovation than WoW as do many many F2P mmos. EVERY Indie sandbox that comes out has some sort of innovation involved that drastically differs from the unfortunate norm, but they fail because they took everything out of the oven before it was really cooked. They can only afford so much wood...   You will not see a super fun innovative MMO rack in the cash that WoW has because of the tastes of the audience. Simply put, if WoW wasn't so successful, you'd definitely see more interesting mmos. WoW isn't evil. Blizzard was just smart and the majority of consumers don't look for depth.

I would be interested in knowing how innovation and depth have any relation?  WoW offers more to do than most mmo's, especially the ones you mentioned.  I currently subscribe to none, but have at one time or another played most.  WoW offers tons of content, intuitive controls, casual play, tons of events, side games, crafting, etc... not to mention it runs well and has been relatively bug free compared to its contemporaries.  This site is long known to have a large supply of posters who hate anything beyond nastolgic memories of old games that are on life support.  I played them and they were good due to the fact it was a new concept and there were few options at the time.

WoW had a magnificent affect on the industry by proving the potential income to investors.  There are so many big projects in the works with many more in planning stages.  All of them want a piece of the pie, thanks to WoW.  Hating any industry or business that suceeds seems more like jealousy if you ask me.  Blizzard has produced a product that millions agree is worth playing and paying for.  Just because some people do not like it, does not mean it is the world's evil.

Some people did not like Barney the dinosaur.  Did that mean the end or ruination of the kids programming.  No, it sparked an upsurge in kids programming.  Same thing here.  I think too many posters just hate for the sake of hating.  Eventually (hopefully) people grow up and realize not everyone shares their opinions and/or the world does not revolve around them.

I wonder if Obama's version of Geralt will sleep with all the women?  Pretty good game so far.

I run the game maxxed on a i-5 2500k with a nvidia 560ti overclocked.  I don't think your issue is with the cpu.  I would check their forums for issues with your ati card and possible fixes.  The recent patch increased fps for most users with the removal of the DRM feature on most copies of the game.  Good luck mate.

Cheers!

I think it has more to do with the fact that MMOs, RTSs, and FPSs are really the only games outside of flight simulators that people play on PCs anymore.

I suppose all those rpgs (da2, me2, etc...) that sold really well on the PC don't count eh?

To the OP, I think this is all just coincidence in regards to your correlation.  I just think they are trying to establish a network to improve hits and revenue.

I have to disagree and say likely E3 will be the next big set(s) of announcements with mmo's.

Also wanted to add in that when I said best F2P game . That does not include those that converted from a P2P to F2P.

Im sorry that doesn't make much sense.  They are still F2P games regardless of how they began.  I agree Allods is a good f2p game, but has and still is ruined by Gpotato and their ever changing cash shop.

I would have agreed 100% with you a month ago, until I tried Dragon age 2. It seems like EA forced Bioware to release it before it was done, or so say the rumors at least.

This is not directed at you Loke666, this is more just directed at most of the people on this website.

I have seen so many people say that this game was rushed or forced by EA and that is why it turned out the way it is. Well looks look at the facts that we have about the game, and not just idol rumor.

Fact #1: First news about a Dragon Age 2 release date was from January to March 2011 - from a press release on February 8, 2010.

Fact #2: First hinted at release date was with Dragon Age: Origins Awakening place card suggesting a release date of February 1, 2011. A Bioware moderator in the thread when this information was first shown said “Bio has had multiple games in the works at the same time for many years. There's no reason to believe that development of one precludes development of another.” – Information from a press release on March 8, 2010

Fact #3: Dragon Age 2 release date officially announced by EA\Bioware for March 8, 2011. – From a press release on August 17, 2010.

Fact #4: There has never been anyone at Bioware that said they requested a delay on the games release.

Fact #5: Dragon Age 2 was released on March 8, 2011.

So now I have a question, how is a game that was first announced in February 2010, with a release date speculated around March 2011, rushed or forced out early when it was always slated for that time? I mean everything pointed to an early 2011 sequel to Dragon Age. Which means this is what Bioware had in mind the whole time it was being worked on!

I don’t get it; maybe I do not know the meaning of the word rushed, so how about we look it up.

Rushed- Definition: hurry somebody or something along: transitive verb to make somebody or something move, act, or proceed quickly.

Ok so to rush something would mean to make it happen before it was intended to happen. So then how was a game with a timeframe for release, given a year before release in February 2010, and then released in that said timeframe rushed. That seems to go against the definition of the word! Now if the game was released in December of 2010 you might have a leg to stand on here, since then it would fit the definition of the word. But it didn’t; it was released when EA\Bioware said from the very beginning it was going to release.

Interesting it seems Bioware set a timeframe for a game, and kept said timeframe, and now people are pissed at EA that they kept said timeframe. That makes a lot of sense, where is the door to leave this planet please! /Sarcasm off

Lets also mention that Mythic promised EA a fully functioning AAA mmo in 3 years development with WAR.  EA gave them an additional 6 months and more cash yet Mythic still failed.  Funny how EA ended up the bad guys for supporting a group of developers who failed them, even after a second chance.

Cheers!

All that said, BioWare has done a great job in bringing the Star Wars universe to an MMO. And when you consider the entire game is different for each of the four player classes (Sith Warrior, Bounty Hunter, Smuggler and Trooper) with zero repetition of quests between them, you're looking at a doubly massive MMO.

You do realize there are eight classes.  You forgot the inquisitor, both jedi classes, and the imperial agent.

Back on topic, I do agree with Jon in his assessment and have felt the same way for some time.  This game will make the market take pause to see how it fares... at least until blizzard releases Titan, then it will happen again.  We will all wonder if that game will change the market again.  Hopefully this will continue to happen and each will meet success in order to increase budgets and polish for future projects.

Cheers!

I believe I have finally found an mmo thats has taken the best bits from other mmos and perfected it nicely. :)

I was a wow player for 5 years, what kept me in that game wasn't the gameplay itself but the community. Wow has been dumbed down so much it is nothing like the original best it used to be. As for cata I only played that for 2 weeks and uninstalled.

Ok.. so.. you ;like Rift because it did nothing new and didn't really improve on anything. You also liked WoW for it's community (what) and think that WoW's been dumbed down? WoW is literally the simplest MMO on the market and always has been...

To say WoW is the simplest MMO on the market is a bit foolish imo.  Free Realms, Toon town online, Pirates of the Carribean Online, Fusion fall, Clone wars, etc... are by far more simplier games.  WoW is one of the most accessible games on the market I would say.  Too many hate WoW for what I do not know.  I have yet to see any evidence of how WoW has harmed anyone to this day to deserve the amount of bashing it gets.  Teenagers are so funny how they want to be unique by following the crowd.

Cheers!

I play on Estrael and it is usually medium, going to high for primetime.  I am noticing that players have spread out.  The "Get to max level mentality" has left my bracket of pvp from instant queues to 5 to 30+ minute queues.  This is really killing my enjoyment.  I know it seems rather petty, but I enjoy exploring, crafting, and pvping.  All of which is a much slower way of leveling than just quest grinding.  This has also made finding dungeon groups much harder unless I devote to playing during primetime which life has a funny way of making that difficult. Just my 2 cents.

Cheers!

I would say the endless hyping of this game since October 2008 and still a general lack of knowledge about the majority of the games systems and content.  Having to rely on beta leaks to watch as the game progresses due to overzealous marketing moderation.  We keep getting told how awesome this game is with practically no evidence.

I have to cite an old tv add:

WHERE'S THE BEEF?

Cheers!

ON Estrael server defiant is 1-10 mins, guardian 0-4 mins.

Varies by server group.

Cheers!

...then please understand that this is normal.  Loooooong queues are NORMAL.

Naw, if what people are saying is true and they have 10 hour queues, that's not normal. The only game I have ever seen that was Aion and people went crazy on the forums about it.

I don't know how bad Rift is because I don't play it, but most queues of launches are 1 hour or less, or none.

WoW had insane queues on launch as well. Its only a few servers like that on RIFT and those are servers that were targeted by a large number of guilds from other games. They have been adding new servers since they started this morning.

Cheers!

I would like to see some small changes.

Currency

1.  In just an hour of fighting Rifts on the last Beta I got one Blue token and a bout 200 little tokens.  Enough for a chest piece.  This beta I got 1 purple token, 7 blue tokens and 100 little tokens.  They upped the pruple blue drops but no the little token drop which kept me from buying much with them.

I have had no issue on any of the callings affording all the blue gear, the purples are tough, but they are epics, not freebies.

2.  Make the currency tab on the character page able to accept a hotkey

you character page stays on whatever you last had it set to, so "c" is the hotkey if you leave it on currency

Hearthstone

1.  Cooldown is too long

Your opinion

Mount

The mount we recieved for preorder is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucking stupid looking.  Thanks.

 Your opinion

PvP

1.  Black Garden is weak.  I mean bad.  Stay in one place on a big map.  Hide behind the tree and heal.  Wow what innovation.

That is one strategy that works against an unorganized pug, but is easy to break.

2.  Insta loot for dead bodies.

There is an instaloot option under guess what... options.

3.  We want PvP rewards that don't start at level 25.

You level so fast that you will outlevel them quickly, but there are some if you do the pvp quests.

4.  Allow xp locking

You opinion that I do not share since it encourages twinking.

Sorry Allods. Burn me once, shame on you, and well, I dont give second chances anymore.

Cheers!

I pre-ordered Rift last Sunday from the Rift website. The next day I discovered the pvp "feature" that killed the game for me.

I emailed Support and explained I wanted to cancel my pre-order.

via email:

  1. They confirmed my support request
  2. Notified me that the order had been cancelled and to look for a credit to my credit card
  3. Notified me that they had credited my credit card

My credit card was indeed adjusted and my Rift account is still available in case I change my mind.

They completed the entire operation in less than 48 hours.

All in all I am impressed with Trion's setup and promptness.  I just don't want to play their game.

Hope all that helps.

What pvp feature do you mean? All Ive seen since then was them rolling back changes for pvp servers to allow for more open world pvp.

Cheers!
