I loved AO, the game just had the right "feel" about it if you know what i mean... Altough it sounds to good to be true, i would buy it without giving it a second thought.

Okay, i have to be honest folks... i tried to stay away from this off-topic section on this forum but i simply cant stand this mindless nonsence.  I'm só tired of all those "minorities" playing the race-card whenever it suits them.

You talk about  racism not being fun, yet you show all signs of being a racist yourself. Lets talk about those so called hangings 60 years ago. You would like us to believe that our ancestors were all a evil bunch of rednecks that hung black folks just because of the fact that they had dark skin. Yet you fail to mention that the overwhelming majority (not áll of them) of those who were hanged were convicted rapists and killers! The media fails to mention this because they want whites to feel ashamed of themselves and their herritage in order to weaken us and lessen resistance against multiculturalism.  They want to instill the feeling that we owe those minorities something, and that we have to make up for their endless "suffering".   In other words... it get things done.

Now  i am willing to say here on this forum that we whites have nothing, i repeat NOTHING to be ashamed about.  Please consider this:

from the dawning of time the tribes in Africa fought eachother. When one tribe defeated the other tribe, those who lost were either killed or enslaved. When we whites arrived at the shores of Africa we started buying those who were already enslaved!  It isnt like we just came there and randomly picked up some free black folks and shipped them to the United States or Europe. We bought them from native africans !  Their own kin sold them.  So, a few month's later they  arrived in (for example) America and were put to work on the cottonfields.  In some cases conditions were harsh, but they had a warm meal waiting for them everyday. They had a roof above their head and could even create healthy families. The fact of the matter is that those people had a much better existance here then they would have had back in Africa. In Africa they would have probably been worked to death.

 But wait, dont leave.... there is more!

Eventually we whites abolished slavery all together and you were all considered free men of equal standing!  And guess what sir, instead of sending you all back to Africa (and to the miserable conditions there) those white folks decided that you could all stay too!

Thus it happened that we are even until this day the only nation who officially abolished slavery!

And finally;

What race was it that opened up all of their country's borders for third world immigrants?

The peoples of what race let you benefit of all of their social programs?

What race is it that is trying to do its best to improve conditions in Africa in the past and modern times?

What race is it that  fought a terrible and destructive war  amongst itself  for  YOUR freedom?

What race is it that is RISKING IT'S OWN EXISTENCE  to accomodate all those minorities from around the world?!

A race that did all of this must be a verry generous, caring and honorfull race now doesnt it?  Sir, that was the White race!

The next time you talk about those evil racists who want to "put the black man down" think about this will you? We didnt enslave your people, you were already enslaved. We are the ones that FREED your people and we are the ones still doing our best to accomodate your people to this day!   And frankly, im sick and tired of this black attitude towards whites. Just dont push us to far... because believe me, you definatly dont want to see our other side.

well, there you have it folks.  Pfew, my vent is over. First and last time on this section of the board so... cya, have fun

Well, we all know that new technology enters the game as time gradually passes by. But to be honest... i dont hope the folks at Icarus will be pushing it to the limit with all kinds of robotic equipment, mechs, lasers etc etc.   This game is set in a post-apocalyptic timeframe and it would suck if it eventually evolved into some kind of futureistic sci-fi shooter like Planetside or SWG.

Technological advancement is cool, but it should remain within the post-apocalyptic setting.

I really dont have a problem with the way the graphics look now.  I think they look good... nothing fancy, just good.  And besides, i'd rather have this engine and smooth gameplay then fotorealistic über-graphics but bad performance. I'm sure most mmo players would agree with me on that   concidering games like vanguard

And your point is...?

You cant seriously say this game isnt bringing something new into the mmorpg marketplace just because some 14 year old offline game had zombies and pipes in it.

I agree with the starter of this topic. There is a new xpack comming and it is going to kick ass. Why you ask? here is why:

Blizzard is a company just like anny other, it needs to be able to compete with other games that developers are releasing, their reason of existence is profit, period.  If we look at games such as WAR,  Vanguard and AOC, we can see that those games have some verry neat feautures like mounted combat, player housing,  Ships, etc etc.  Blizzard knows damn well that they will have to keep up with this to stay in the loop so they will undoubtly add some of these features into WOW.  That's not copying, its called the evolution of the genre (and business strategy).   The next Xpac wont have a lvl raising cap.... it will add a lot of new gameplay features like playerhousing, mounted combat, new area's, maybe even guild pvp, the works.

As a matter of fact, i'm sure that the BC wasnt such a big deal because of this. Blizzard is aware of the comming competition and they didnt want to shoot all of their gunpowder at once. Mark my words, Blizzard has a awesome expansionpack up its sleeve. They simply cant stay behind of the competition.

Either that or the marketeers and dev's at Blizzard are absolutely out of their minds...

-Edit- P.S.  I'm not a WoW fanboy...

as a matter of fact, player housing is on the agenda of Blizzard.  Do you guys know that portal between the trade district and Old town at the canals (with the bars infront of it) leads to a area that is called "residential district? I've been manny times behind that portal, and right now there is nothing... just some large untextured terrain under stormwind. But if they are going to implement housing, it would be there.

It's funny that you people are so ignorant about SOE. Okay, you want to boycott games that have any affiliation with Sony? Go ahead. The game community doesn't want you.

Who made you the supreme commander of the gaming community? Dont speak about subjects like this on behalf of all mmorpg gamers please... thanks.

I've played SWG a while after the NGE and i thought it was a okay game... nothing fancy, but enjoyable non the less. Dont know how the game was pre-nge tho.  I guess its all through the eye of the beholder.

just to illustrate the importance of having a direct debit option, this is a small excerpt from some article i found on the internet:

"CCP is also announcing support for Direct Debit in cooperation with GlobalCollect and will be ready shortly after the Leipzig show. Direct Debit is the preferred payment method of gamers in Germany and therefore an important payment addition to the already wide selection of payment methods offered by CCP.

Lisette Schipper, Business Development Manager of GlobalCollect said, "We are thrilled to be part of EVE Online's upcoming localized German launch and to provide Direct Debit, the most popular online payment method in Germany. This will enable CCP to provide their German gamers the option to pay with a local method they are familiar with and most importantly, comfortable using."

Here in America we can use our Debit Cards just like Credit Cards. They are processed like credit cards, except instead of things being bought on credit it comes straight out of our bank account.

My Debit Card is Visa.

I am not 100% sure of this, but i think debit cards are affiliated with creditcards here aslo... so it works exactly the same here as in America. The fact that there arent a lot of people with creditcards is due to the European mentality, most people simply refuse to buy things on credit (although that's changing slowly tho), its a matter of keeping one's financial freedom. I myself would never ever use a cc even if i had one.

Annyway, i think that all those distributors of games do not even realize how much profit they are missing from not using direct debit as a payment method for mmorpg's. I talked to lots of people who would like to play a certain  mmorpg but did not, or could not do it simply because of the fact that they had to pay with cc's.

So folks at Icarus, i'm 100% sure that you would get a lot more players from Europe if you would use a direct debit payment option. Just telling ya... :)

Greetings, i've been playing mmorpg's for a long long time now and one of the things that always annoyed me was the fact that only a few mmorpg have the option to pay for them via direct debit. I live in the Netherlands, and creditcards arent as usual here as in for example the usa. So when a good game hits the market here without using a direct debit payment option, there is usually a large run on payment cards (and in most cases even those are not availible as payment option) ... eventually making it verry hard to get one. For example, when Blizzard launched WoW here, a large amount of players werent even able to play the game due to the lack of cards... When i asked a gamestore employee, he told me they were getting nuts because of all the people asking for one. So not only did a lot of players get duped, im sure blizzard lost loads of money because of it too. Now that they have implemented a direct debit payment option everything's fine and most servers are full of dutch folks. So to keep things short... please consider implementing a direct debit payment option for European country's :}
