I played wow with a ATI X1900GT in the past, and i always had 60 fps in the wilds and 30 - 50 fps in the more crowded area's such as orgrimmar and altarec.

A few months ago however, i switched to the nvidia 8800GT and while i'm still getting 60 fps in the wilds,  the crowded area's like orgrimmar and Altarec now give me about 10 or 20 fps.  That's half the amount i get with a 1900GT!

So there's definitely something wrong with either the client or the card... i hope something will be done about it soon

as for Xfire, it seems AOC is going down faster then a five dollar hooker...  Yesterday it dropped from the 7th to the 8th place. Today it has dropped another 2 spots and now stands on #10.

As a matter of fact, AOC dropped another spot today on xfire and went from # 7 down to # 8.  It doesn't even show up on the " today's top 10 games" list anymore.

What a bullshit... normally these forums are full of people who HATE wow with a passion. Yet, in this poll it seems everyone was playing wow all along and are now leaving it for AoC.  lol, yeah right!

So i downloaded the latest version of Modelviewer today, and while i was browsing through the list of available emotes i stumbled across one i have never seen before. It's called EmoteDanceSpecial and it shows the character (only works on human models) tapping his foot and clapping his hands, as if he's listening to someone playing a instrument.   It doesn't seem to work within the game itself, but the data and animations are now definitely there!  I might have overlooked that emote in the past, rendering this topic useless, but if it IS new... then i'm sure intruments will be included.

If someone happens to have the latest version of modelviewer,  check it out and let me know what you think of it please!

Allrighty, so after reading about the so called "miracle patch" today here on mmorpg.com, i decided to give closed beta one more shot.  It indeed seems to have cut back the loading times drasticly, i never had to wait more then 20 or 30 seconds!   Unfortunately, i'm still having low framerates in the wilds and 5 fps slideshows in Tortage.  Global chat was full of talk about performance issues, so i asked around what i could do -after this patch- to increase my fps. One guy replied me by saying i had to delete the cache files in my conan folder. I decided to make  a screenshot of his instructions, but when i pressed the button... the game locked up and started repeating the last frame over and over again?!  Since i could not ctrl-alt-del or alt+tab out of it, i had to switch the power off/on.  After being logged in again and clicking on my character to enter the game, it gave me the "client of wrong version" error?!

At that moment, i laughed out loud and just deleted it again from my pc.

My system: Pentium DC 2.8 Gig, 2048MB ram, geforce 8800GT 512 MB alpha dog,  windows XP.

I bet all the game developers Hope to some day have a beta tester as skilled and wise as you....... tool.

I suppose reporting your crashes and issues would of been too much trouble for a kid like you to handle, oh well. Maybe someday you'll realize closed beta isn't there for your simple enjoyment, I doubt it though.

Hey, i've been in many betas before (TR, LOTRO, PW, G&H, etc, etc) and you can bet your ass that i've seen my fair share of in-game reporting tools.  As for reporting bugs in Age of Conan, i admit... never did it. If it is bugreporting they want, they should at least make sure the client is actually playable enough for me to progress and encounter them.  Or do you really expect me to hitch & glitch around with a whopping 7 - 20 frames p/s for hours, days or even weeks? Get real man... only a fool would subject himself to such torture!  When it comes to selecting Beta players, i think developers should pay more attention as to who they are inviting. I'd much rather NOT get an invite for a game i can't play annyway, so that someone who CAN play it might be of actual help when it comes to reporting bugs!

When a person is saying (pay attention fanbois) he only played for about 15 minutes or so due to bad performance,  that doesnt neccesarily mean he thinks the game sucks. It simply means the game was too much to handle for his pc! As a matter of fact, all those who gave up on Conan before lvl 13 because of bad performance and are saying it sucks (pay attention haters) are fools since they didnt even get the chance to really experience it in the first place!  My pc clearly could not handle this game, and considering the fact we're all here to share our individual experiences on this forum, i posted mine.... without saying that it sucked.  Because afterall, i did not get to experience the contents of the game!

Age of Conan is the first 3th generation mmorpg so all this performance drama was to be expected.

I predicted this a long time ago: www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/1501034#1501034

People with high-end machines are more likely to enjoy this game then those without the high-end rigs and the performance gaps between them will be BIG. More so with Age of Conan then with any other previously released games. It all comes down to acknowledging this simple fact, and live with it. It's an understanding that must come from both ways.

If i were the man in charge at Funcom right now, i would make it plain and simple: You'd better have a kick-ass pc or you wont enjoy this game, period.  It would make things much clearer for people and it would minimalize the negative feedback regarding performance on all these forums, giving Age of Conan the oppertunity to steadily grow as time passes by.

For what it's worth, i think AoC is going to be a succesfull game with a healthy following that will only increase in due time.  I will be sure to check it out in about a year or so, when i have a new pc.

And as for those insults you threw at me, i'll just refer you to my avatar. Have a nice day, buddy.

Pentium DC 2.8 Gig, 2048 MB ram,  8800GT  512 MB and Win XP.  The performance on my pc was truly horrible, in the wilds i was playing with a steady 30 fps. In Tortage city however, i was hitching around with a whopping 7 frames per second on low/medium settings.  I asked in general chat if others were having the same issue,  and a lot of people told me they did.

Good point Zorvan, but do you think it really matters that much?   Take World of Warcraft for example, it attracted a whole bunch of people who never even heard about the genre until then. Imagine wow, with the exact same graphics, same gameplay and same functionalities within a sci-fi setting... i strongly believe it would not have made the slightest difference and would be just as successful. Besides, If the juggernaught mmo's turn out to be not so great after all, do you really think people will just walk away from the entire scene and never look back because the best alternative is sci-fi? Nah, most of them will simply be looking for something that looks good, functions good and is fun and challenging regardless of its setting.  It might even contribute to a greater feeling of  "something new and refreshing" so many people within this community are so obsessed about.

Of course, i'm sure there are people who will only settle for fantasy. But from a general perspective, i dont think it matters that much tbh.

First of all, this game sets itself apart from all other upcomming releases by being the only mmo that is based on skill, rather then level.  It contains a truly innovative and meaningful crafting system.  It puts the player in a world that has just suffered through a terrible apocalypse that brought about the destruction of most technology, instead of the old been-there-done-that fantasy or medieval settings we've all grown so accustomed to.  It also offers a kick-ass character customization and lets you choose between 6 unique factions that all have their own distinct abilities!  Forget the old point & click (or click & swing) combat, and say hello to a skill-based fps hybrid that actually takes a keen eye and a steady hand to hit someone!   By the way... have i mentioned that there is NO zone loading what-so-ever in this game? Thats right, no zones: even the dungeons are open!

While keeping the above in mind, awnser me the following question: Am i the only one who thinks this game might be a sleeper hit with the potential of drawing more subscribers then Age of Conan or Warhammer in the long run?  Think about all the people who loved SWG pre-cu, AO, AA, FOM, etc etc... i'm sure they will be there to check it out sooner or later. And what about all the reports comming in about AoC being just another generic, overhyped mmo and the posibility that war will suffer the same fate! Considering all these things, does it not fall within the realm of posibilities that this game could actually be - dare i say it? - "the next best thing!"?

Let me know your thoughts on this folks, cheers

Btw, before the fanbois march in and start flaming the shit out of me: Despite me not liking WAR and AoC, i wish both games the best of luck and may the hard work of so many developers be rewarderd accordingly! Keep in mind that the above is just a scenario!

Neither do i mate... the only thing i said was that my dual core 2.8 gig, 2048MB ram and 8800GT 512 pc was running AOC in the more crowded areas with a whopping 7 frames per second on medium/low.  So considering the fact that my post got deleted because of breaking the NDA, what is it exactly that i disclosed? As far as I know a NDA is there to protect the intellectual property such as various gameplay elements, in other words: the combat system, how questing works, what kinds of things can be done in-game, etc, etc.

In all honesty, I really, really, really don't see how posting my performance breaches this considering the fact it's of no use what-so-ever to other developers anyway. Also, i have seen plenty of posts saying it ran great on their pc's... how come those do not get deleted? Or the ones saying that i have to enable/disable this or that, doesnt that (in this case) even more so breach the NDA? I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous... anything to keep the pr-machine rolling eh guys?
