Darkfall's graphics arent great though. They were at the time the game began production. I like the stylized art of Spellborn and I really can't wait for Bioware's mmo. I am a big fan of their's. They have always had both graphics and gameplay. I think Bethesda could do it as well.

WAR was just ok for me. Kinda like DAoC evolved. Which is good, just not for me. Looking forward to Spellborn and Bioware's mmo.

Other than the PQ's the PvE is the same as most other mmo's out today. If you like the feel of the game and the universe of Warhammer you will like it whether you RvR or not. Just dont look for the same level of attention paid ro the dungeons as other mmo's. They arent bad but just kinda average. Though getting them unlocked in the city's are pretty cool.  I hope other mmo's take note of that feature.

We are in the 21st century, mmo's should have both. Gameplay is what makes a game fun and what ultimately makes or breaks it  but graphics and sound lend an air of immersion that mere gameplay cannot provide. In todays day and age I don't see a reason why they all shouldnt have both. If a company is independent with no budget thats different. If they don't want to spend the money to build or simply don't have the talent to design their own engine they could always license someone else's like the crytek engine that NCsoft is developing on or the Hero engine that Bioware is using. They are both very important. (Let us not forget sound as well) Today's games and the games of tommorow need to have both.

I love the game. I am new and got in. The freedom is compelling. To be honest I didnt think I would like a sandbox game...thought I would get bored but I was wrong the freedom is liberating. I fear for another MMO in my future if it doesnt offer freedom like this! The music is great...the graphics are far better then I would have thought. The wildlife A.I. blows me away! Little creatures will follow you around watching you...those little animals around the ranger camp will come up to you and raise up on two legs and do a little dance for you it is great....really very immersive.

I wasnt trying to compare WAR to a sandbox game but the OP complained of the straight line progression involved in WAR if that is the gameplay that he likes I was just offering up those two MMO's as alternatives. I think WAR is the game that Mythic set out to make and it will appeal to the market that they wanted it to. Regardless of it being a niche group or not. It is well made and alot of time went into making it appeal to the RvR crowd. DAoC players will like it I am sure. So many of the CB players that I had been playing with the last few months were old DAoC players. In a way I think WAR may cannibalize that game. Maybe that was the plan all along. It is getting along in age. 

You want not linear play EVE or Ryzom...I am playing Ryzom now and I am already having more fun with it then the past few months in WAR. Though I do admire the attention detail from Mythic. The sense of humor is great too.

I have been in beta for months and I agree. The game isnt for me. I can see the appeal for a certain group. Like the DAoC crowd but eh. Just wasnt for me.

Thank you so much for this post I am currently in the beginning area and levelling my skills up and having a great time in, what I consider, the most immersive mmo world I have seen. I was getting worried about what to do once I went to the mainland. Been hearing that there is no mission system on the mainland like the starting area has. Great Post!

I am still in the beginning area and have no plans to travel to the mainland anytime soon. I want to make sure I really understand the game and raise my skill levels before I travel there. I am afraid not having an active quest sytem will make me feel either bored or overwhelmed. =/ 

So does the lack of a mission system on the mainland make it really hard to find things to do?

it has been random all day as far as I know. I saw that they were letting people in earlier this morning and when to the site and I was too late. I went back a little later and I got in so just keep trying.

I must say..this is a completely unique mmo. I really like it alot. Wonderful immersion and great art style and the music is really great. The graphics are much better than I thought they would be. Just great to have so much freedom to make the type of character I want with the skills that I choose.  New favorite game.

Vern couldnt agree more. The game has such a feel to it. It really feels like a living world. I love how the wildlife will come up to you and just watch you seeing what you are doing. The music is great and the graphics are far better than I thought they would be. So glad I got in and gave this game a chance. Kudos to the buyers of the game for bring back a wonderful world. 

The community is already better than most I have encountered in mmo's. The ability to customize and edit spells is wonderful. Ok back to it going back in. Now I just wish I could jump =/

I like perfect world I mean it is a heavy grinder but graphics are great and the music is zen like lol and its free

Games above average but not for me. I stopped playing my Closed beta account awhile ago. Didnt hold my interest. The RvR is great for those who like it but the PvE was just average to me. I wont be subbing
