You failed when you stated as an incorrect fact that the performance of the game in it's home land was 'lackluster' it is not, has not been and will continue to not be. You had no proof to back that statement up and you just assumed that it was not a successful game and the facts say that it is. In fact Song has 3 games in the top 10 in Korea. This game is a resounding success already and will only increase in popularity as it matures. Hence the fail post. Funny the explanations that have to be given out for something so simple to understand.

I am sorry but if you are going to say it wen F2P from P2P model and that it is the 9th most played MMO in Korea then 'lack luster'  or 'average' is the only word that comes to the mind.

That doesn't mean average games are not fun. I play a lot of average games from time to time. I wonder why you taking it so personally unless you have some personal relation to the game.

If rank 9 in most played MMOS in Korea and going F2P from P2P is considered 'resounding success' then i guess we have to find a new word to explain WOW's success.

I guess we don't have access to similar English vocabulary.

 

Because Korea is the number one gaming country in the world. So number 9  in Korea is better than most games in US. You speak like a typical white boys.  I take it personal because I am tired of so many of you white boys smashing Asian MMO's while western countries continue to churn out trash. The game has generated over 40 million dollars US in profits since October of last year. It IS a success you just have no facts to back up your stupid opinion. Which is wrong.

It was just a mistake. Why do people jump off a damned bridge when something goes wrong? I was charged $150 and they refunded it back. Calm down and stop with the childish behavior.
They are not desperate they made a mistake and admitted it. You will get your money back as everyone will. I was charged as well but it is only $150 and they have already refunded it to my card. People need to chill
People have rose colored glasses on when they speak of SWG. That game was terrible. I was playing Asheron's Call and could never understand the love of SWG. Just a boring game. AC was the best.
Great write up. I am most Irked by Marathon Men. I can not stand being rushed through a Dungeon.I love to experience the game not smash through. I call these guys Hulks
AA has gameplay elements that many people say they want yet when they are given a game that has them they do nothing but complain that the game is boring. This is the kind of game that gives back what you put in. The game does not start at 30. Questing is not required for 30 levels. By level 10 or so you can wander off and do your own thing. If you play it like WOW then you will complain it is nothing but a rail game. If you play it like Asheron's Call you will see what the game is really about. It is one thing to just not like the game, it is another to troll the game for not being what you thought it was based on your inability to play it.

Yeah it is a fine edge sword some companies walk. I am not opposed to the idea with smaller developers who may not have the funding upfront for a game to be made using the funds for a better game than would have been had otherwise but now every developer is beginning to do it.

Not sure I like the top down view and the really cartoony graphics. Like the idea but I think I will stick to AA

Considering ArcheAge is NOT a new game and has been out longer than Wildstar. It is only new here in the west. It has been in the east for sometime now. The success of the game there is what has lead to the expansion of the game to the east.

Defending of certain choke points is one of the highlights of the game and the world for me so far. Feels like old school AC. Totally dig the game. Back to it!
I like the game before 30 not sure what all the vitriol is about. If you dont like it find another game.
The first 60 levels of WOW was not fun to me. Nor the first 70. Asheron's Call was fun and AA is more like AC than  WOW so this does not compare.
I like the game. I was on a mount at lvl 7 a boat at lvl 8.  The questing is not really required outside of learning to play the game and exploring 120 different classes. For those who do not like it that is fine. Leaves more land for me, more naval combat for me and more exploring for me. =)
Agreed Mith. If the game is not the flavor they want that is fine but to slam a game because they do not like it is crazy to me. If the game is not to your liking cool! Move on and find one that you do! I, like many people here, like this game and will play it. It is not just because I paid for it. That has nothing to do with it. I paid for Wildstar and do not play it. I personally liked getting to level 28. Was not tedious to me AT ALL. You fight and quest just like almost every other MMO on earth. Yet with AA you know that the game will uncover a staggering amount of depth. Things are just not color-coded like most MMO's. Is it the ulimate sandbox? well no and it never was meant to be. Yet an MMO is a long term time sink meant to be uncovered slowly and consume hundreds of hours of time. To show boom boom boom for the first couple of hours would be like Jurassic Park showing the T-Rex in the first scenes instead of 100 minutes into the film. I like a slower paced MMO not a GW2 letdown. I can understand why some people do not like the game. Yet I also know that AA was not intended for all people. This type of MMO has a solid fan base and those of us who enjoy an AC old school UO type game can finally play one again. Made by Long who knows a thing or two about MMO's. The slams of being another 'Asian' MMO? Well I prefer Asian MMO's.
It took me 3 hours and 30 minutes to hit level 28 and the game opened up. If people cant spend 3.5 hours learning the mechanics and exploring 120 different classes then why do you play MMO's? I personally liked my 28 levels not sure what people expect from MMO's these days. I think people have an 'idea' for what they want but just hop from one game to another waiting for some magical game that does not exist yet.
It is not being a fanboy it is just enjoying this particuliar flavor of game. If you do not want to play through the first 2 or 3 hours to get to the good stuff that is fine. Noone asked you to. I like to play as an explorer in MMO's and this game allows me to. I have played nearly every game out or has been out. Is AA the be all end all? No. Do I like it? Yes. There are plenty of MMO's out there. Enough to go around. I suggest those who are here to just complain about a game you hardly played to go find a game of your own.
