doesnt look half bad actually
=)

I think the way the pally is in this game is better than most. Great under rated game imo

Blood Mage rocks

Disciple was my first class and it was a pretty bad a@@ class =)

I like the game. It feels like Diablo to me and I am having fun. Dont really care what the reviews are.    *shrugs*

Im cool with them waiting a bit. I have D3 and TL2 coming out I need some time damn it lol

great little write up. I loved TL one and just wanted it to do a little more. Now those things have been done in TL2. I will buy and play both but I am looking forward to TL2 more. Just love the first one. Had so much charm.

Kind of a duh, but the more I play my lancer, the more I fall for TERA’s combat.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for playing a class that feels "right" for me. I used to think I was a mage person until I started playing games where the "mage" character didn't feel right. Then I thought something had changed in me and I was a "melee" peson. Though that again changed in GW2 beta when I fell in love wiht the elementalist.

But on topic, I LOVE the lancer. Love it. Just like I loved my swordmaster in Warhammer, the lancer feels right for me. From my first block where you can see the character brace the legs, slightly bowed, shield held high and lance jutting forward like a challenge, to when the character does a lung and the entire character sprtings forth like a beatiful line, I just love playing the character.

But you know? I have seen and tried most of the classes and each one has that "thing" that hooks you.

From the huge world to the BAMS which are fun but exhausting to fight, the entire game is just fun.

and I really love that parties can sprting up at the drop of a hat. Yesterday I was doing quests and went over a ridge so I could go down to a beach (trying to find my way back to turn some in) when I literally smacked rigth into a crab giong the other way. I decided to fight it (solo) and after about 2 hours had fought many of them because players were traveling over the ridge and asking to join, dropping party after they were done or helping for "1 or 2 more" and a chunk of my evening was spent on that ridge just tanking these things.

And yes, lancers can die. I was in the Labyrinth when I saw that a guild mate was looking for some help. I was fighting some BAMS down there so though "well, I'll hold my shield up and try to reply while typing with my left hand". That wasn't bright.

So not being bright makes you die.

Also, a slight bit of lag or just one mistep can roll you, shake your confidence and you have to fight to recover.

But that's what I love about Tera. I can fight a monster or player and possbily make a mistake and not have it be an insta kill.

I can accidentlally get mobbed by 3 groups of mobs and their minions and even though I'm at 5 hp recover and win if I'm patient and skilled.

Heck, I killed Johnnyh Depp solo because I was juxst determined enough.

er, Johnny Depp is the Prince in Sinestral Manor.

I just love this game. And even though that seem gushing and I DO have complaints (though none that would be shared by many of the players today, my complaints would want the game slightly more hard core for my tastes) it's refreshing to play something that I WANT to play, not something where I'm trying it out and biding my time until something better comes along.

If your sold I may have to try it then. Nice write up Sov

looking forward to Torchlight 2 far more than this  Blizzards' best days are behind them

took a few times but finally got signed up. =) thanks for link and the heads up OP

This game is great! I was eh after the demo but bought it anyways because I wanted to support the developers making it (Rolson and Salvatore ftw)  but wow   the game is much much better than the demo lets on. In fact I wish they hadnt released a demo so those who judge this huge open world game by a 45 minute demo would judge it on its totality. Just really really love the game.

But you know the worst part?

Investors will continue to fail to realize that they could be making more money with something new.  Just like somebody once had the temerity to create a hamburger stand when everyone loved hot dogs, they became successful.  Nobody will take that plunge anymore.

Nobody will create tacos, or seafood, or chinese takeout.  Only hamburgers.  And it is SOLELY because of the selfishness of the fanboys, who cannot concede even for a moment that they DO have options for their playstyle, and that it is high time other people in the city of Progress had a turn at something shiny, tasty and new.

So yes, haters are gonna hate.  Because the MMORPG industry has proven to be the only industry where consumers seem to defy logic by choosing to reject the opportuntiy for variety and choices, and instead imbracing the factory-assembled 'checklist of fun' that is being conveyed out the door again and again.

Unacceptable.

Main issue is investors don't play MMO but drives expansive cars and have sex with hot grirls that are even more clueless about MMOS. (At least most of them ;)

OP, you can't teach people to have higher standards.

I'll take this analogy.

My neighbor, a French pastry chef, opened a bakery in a North American city.

As you can guess he started making French fine pastry and well most of the people told them it was not so bad but they prefer you know classic north american stuff.

Thing is it takes time to educate people and change their habits. When your mouth is used to be assaulted by sugar you won't even notice the subtle aroma in more delicate food.

I like french pastries and krispy kreme

To think that a failing Star Wars game would bring any new investor spending 200 mil $ on a completely untried new approach is simply too naive.

how is it failing?

Some people like to get gear.

Different games for different people.

Yes to bad that their Gear addiction has turned MMOS into Theampark Slotmachines...  At one point they were about something ells.. but as mentioned before those days are long gone.. probably never to be seen again..

there are plenty of games out there for sandbox players. A few being made now as well. Not seeing how this game ruins ALL mmo's. *shrug*

Seriously. The OP has blinders on, thats all. He is seeing this game from a single persective, the MMO mechanics side. He sees nothing more than that, and as a result, he believes that is all there is to SWTOR. It simply is not reality though, short sited and narrowed vision. And of course when you formulate an argument based off such limited insite, you get this stuff he posted here.

This game is only bad for the genre if his reality was all SWTOR brought to the genre. You can argue each individual mechanical aspect of the games functionality all you want, that isnt what SWTOR brings to the genre, that just happens to be all the OP can see of it. I'm sorry for his lack of vision, honestly I am.

EDIT: Oh and to the dude above me, SWTOR is an MMORPG game, not an MMO. And thank you for so eliquently proving my point.

Can you in anny shape or form effect others in SW:Tor? and by effect I mean, take/destyory thier LANDS/Planets,ITEMS, SHIPS etc??

Can you in anny shape and form effect the game world? can you build any structures, Counstruct a deathstar, Build a colany etc?

Can you in anny shape and form cunduct any Politics that effect other players? and by this I mean block off trade, Start wars that damage others, do espionage on other players??

Can you travel freely acrross the world? that means go anywere, and not follow a zone cunstructed Quest chain to a max level??

Can you effect annything by doing PVP? dose anything change or is the only effect you have when you fight other players that you get accesses to New gear??

To me SW:TOR is about one thing getting GEAR for YOU and your COMPANIONS?? or are there anything ells you can effect or change?

You sire is the one that have narrowed vison.. Because you are under the Assuption that Getting Gear and leveing is the only thing that an MMORPG should be about...

Come try EVE for 6 months and you will come to understand that MMOS can be so much more then a grind for items...

Some people like to get gear.

Different games for different people.

Why people quit !

Agreed that GW2 seems to recognize that and is doing something to address it. We shall see if they are able to fix it. If they do? Every other game will copy it lol

Not neccesarily. GW2s massive DEs is a lot more work to do than questchains, a lot more.

But hopefully they will at least realize the problem and try their own solutions for it.

ANET made a list of stuff they thought needed fixing and I agree with the list, but it is a very real possibility that not all their fixes are optimal. The stuff do needs fixing one way or another and I hope others will actually try to figure out their own fixes instead of just stealing from others as usual.

In Rifts case they need something easier then to replace all quests with DEs. It should be for from impossible to patch something like that in. Maybe a mentoring system that lets you mentor questschains as well as levels? Or something else.

The artist is a thief as Gray wrote.....

I agree with some of the OP statements. Though making SWTOR what it is seems well enough for alot of people. Themepark? sure it is. What did you expect? It is a Bioware game. In my humble opinion any MMO that sees success is a good thing for the genre as a whole. I am not a SW fan and other than ME not a Bioware fan anymore but I for one am glad that the game is doing well. I am a fan of the genre and there are plenty of games out there made already or that are being made that will cater to gamers of all kinds. Themepark AND sandbox. no reason to hate on any of them. Half life made shooters better by doing what? adding story and physics. Not much has changed since and the genre is doing fine. People get too critical sometimes. Play what you love. tolerate what you dont.

My guild is great and I love my toons. This game is great and I have not begun to get tired of it and I have played since closed beta. To each their own. I couldnt imagine trying to enjoy it without my guild friends playing with me. We all came over from Vanguard together. Of course I would not play an mmo to play single player. Thats what Skyrim is for.....and KoA next week =)

Yeah, that is by far the best way to enjoy a MMO and the only way to anjoy a CORPG for that matter.

But OPs point that the questchains hinder playing together with other players is valid. Rather hard to fix as well, but they should probably have more chains that you don´t have to have complete another chain first to get.

Agreed. Though that is an issue with most mmo's. I had that issue in Vanguard and EQ as well. My guild is large enough that the variety in level ranges makes for a fairly easy task in getting a group or at least a few players to complete quests with. Hence some games having henchmen I guess like GW and now EQ2

the better the game the better it is for the genre. I am glad the game is doing well. I cant nor will I speak for the quality of the game I gave my beta key away when I won it and I have never played it. Bioware is a shadow of the company I used to love. No knock on them and where they have progressed, I just dont like their games anymore other than ME. Wish this game would have been a Mass Effect mmo that would be great! Just over Star Wars since I was like 10 (?) or so.
