I didn't say second life was a myth. I said you can't get much more of a sandbox than EVE with the current technology available. You cannot just have everyone with multiple different random visual and attribute based set-ups being registered and un-registered constantly. Do you have any idea what it would do to the server clusters if you could even do something as small as have every ship painted any colour under the rainbow or how much it would nomnom up bandwidth? I'll bet you don't. And don't come back with the "but second life has player created items". Try giving all those items guns and having 1500 of them at once taking pot shots at each other. You might be looking at a little bit of extra data for a server to handle. Serious question; Can you have 1500-1000 or even 500 people in the exact same grid at the same time in second life? |

"You can dig a hole in the ground (lol), or mine out rocks and make a cave (lol) thus permanently changing the world" Yep can do these in EVE as well and want to scratch your eyes out but with an actual impact on the politics, industry and look at pretty planets, asteroid belts (lol), jumpgates and stations etc. If you are lucky you will also see your pod a lot. Might straighten you up so you don't become an angry carebear like mine own self. |

This piece of posting is a work of god if you ask me. You didn't but I did. So now, where do we go from here? |

Past the minimal tutorial there is no hand holding. Its up to you to set your own goals. That is why it is a sandbox. |

Nope. Also if TOR shapes up to what it appears to be, it will not be a true MMO. And I have played STO. They have made it feel "trekkie" as I have heard a couple say, and I feel they have captured a lot of elements perfectly, but as an MMO it is terrible. |

Rain soaked me the other day. True story, you have been forewarned. |

Aye, as long as its fast enough to download a particular sort of 'entertainment' on demand its all happy days. Saying that, Magnet entertainment do a low ping to popular game servers service in Ireland now. Shame its mostly to shitty PC FPS and XBOX live servers and outside my area. |

What sort of ammo do you use, faction anti-matter? |

Sorry to dissapoint you Moi but raiding is not all "these" games have to offer. The problem, among many as I have read it here during the week is people have a very narrow vision of what an MMO is. Not to nit-pick but most games have followed World of Warcrafts formula one way or another and people cannot grasp anything but the spoon fed rinse repeat PVE formula anymore. Anything that deviates from this is met with cries of "what do I do next". |

Welcome to New Eden:) |

Is there any plans to introduce a brutix into the game yet? OMG if they do I am so here. Armor made of tritanium, boots of 'suicidal situations' and a breastplate made of old man star...... |

Does this mean STO is now the equivalent of getting 'Double dragon: The movie' for SFA in a petrol (gas) station bargain bin? |

I think the point is being missed. An MMO isn't 3 players together in an instance while 3 other players are doing the same thing, in a different instance of the exact same thing. An MMO is about a persistant universe where your actions affect other players in my opinion, but rarely does any MMO seem to be able to claim that recently. If TOR is just a jumble of different groups of players doing the exact same thing at the same time then no, it is not what I personally would consider a true MMO, but by all intents and purposes using todays standards of online persistant gaming then yes, it is an MMO. Just a terrible one. |

EVE Online: New Expansion "Tyrannis" Announced!

I don't think they were bashing EvE in their comment so much as addressing the idea that "x" feature is unnecessary. Now specific to Incarna, if someone didn't want to use that feature, I'm pretty sure they could stay in their ship. So, instead of looking at this as "unnecessary" why not look at it from the "what can we do with this" view point. I mean, the EvE community as a whole, is pretty creative with the games current features. What harm is there in adding even more? From my own point of view, I personally enjoy the game a lot with just my ship. That said, I would certainly enjoy having more then a portrait to represent my in game persona. The game isn't broken for me with that missing, but I would find more value in the game if/when that feature is implemented. And just think of those people who are wardec'd in high sec....No more sitting there watching a ship spin in station.... :) Aye, its not necessary but adds a new dimension to the game that at first, might not be appreciated, but CCP have shown time and time again that they update the game in a way that does not immediately seem necessary. Wormholes or the industrial expansion (apologies for memory failure) seemed to many people to be fluff. To be frank I don't know anyone that doesn't get excited about particuler types of wormholes (0.0 to hi-sec and 0.0 to 0.0 region etc) and I have never seen the manufacturers happier in our corp. |

I for one cannot wait. The thing is, if I said it wouldn't affect me directly I would be lying. Even the expansions that seem to serve no purpose to a particular playstyle can have a massive effect and change the game drastically. As with IRL, changing the dynamics of supply, demand and the aquisition of resources can mean the small difference in the price of a T1 ship to a pvp'er or members of a fleet, but on a large scale, can run into billions of isk. |
