We have no local chat in WH space and people mining everyday without being ganked. They use the d-scan button or die. It's very simple. |

Just came back after a while.. Need some skill tips!
Jita (General) « EVE Online 5/17/12 10:47:18 PM
Well it looks like you have a good base of combat skills already. The main thing I would focus on is maximizing your skills to support how you make ISK.
Since you are Minmatar and most of thier ships rely on speed/mobility I would finish off evasive maneuvering 5 and start working on advanced weapons upgrade so you can squeeze better fittings in.
If you are looking for more DPS I would go with surgical strike and work on the four shield compensation skills to improve your tank. If you have any questions in game, look me up in the "Phoibe" public channel or convo me on Murashu. |

Phoibe Enterprises is an older corp, founded in 2005 and has lived everywhere, highsec, lowsec, nullsec and multiple wormholes. We currently occupy a Class 2 (C2) WH with a static C3 and highsec. The static C3 offers great ISK earning potential and is easily farmed by 2-3 players. The static highsec makes it extremely easy to move new players in and allows for us to get all the loot out to market in a timely manner. Small gangs and sometimes the larger alliances (hello Last Chancers. and Sleeper Social Club) love coming into C2s and C3s looking for fights so the potential for good PvP is there. (There are very few capitals and zero super capitals in C2/C3) |

EVE Online: The End of The Mittani Era
News & Features Discussion « General Discussion 4/03/12 9:10:00 AM
I have a tornado setup and ready to go in Jita for when Mittens returns. Whether you love or hate the Goons, they do make the game more interesting and create lots of publicity for our little niche game. |

If EVE is your type of game then I'm afraid there just is not much out there to compete with it. I have the same problem, when I grow tired of EVE I spend weeks searching for something to play as a filler and there just arent many games out there that offer gameplay with any form of consequence. I tried DF for a few months, but the lack of 3rd person view and the feeling of being forced to use swords and archery when I want to be a pure caster ruinded it for me. UWO can be fun, but it's pay to win, has terrible translations that are extremely confusing when trying to decifer quest text, offers very little in avatar customization and I believe the pvp is limited to 5v5...I never saw anything bigger than that.
So I always end up going back to EVE while waiting for WoD to come out. |

Have you thought about wormhole space? With all those shield and missile skills you should be able to jump into a Tengu relatively quick and start learning a whole new side of PvE. Incursions were fun for a bit and offer tons of ISK but recently they remind me too much of elitist wow guilds who make achivement and gearscore requirements. |

And yes I can make good money, but I have invested a lot into specialty skills/ships and I lose a lot from PvPing. The only reason I do the PvE content is to fund my PvP addiction. |

Originally posted by lumpking69 As Kyleran pointed out, there are numerous ways to make lots of ISK in EVE but no one is going to share specifics on how to do it.
Mission running is extremely easy and offers a steady flow of income and unsurprisingly is considered extremely boring to many pilots.
Incursions offer pretty good money but require a fleet with specific roles (logistics + DPS). I ran my first incursion Saturday with a bunch of other incursion noobs and we were pulling in 10.5 million ISK every 8-10 minutes. From my understanding the guys in T3s and Faction BSs run them much faster therefore pull in a LOT more ISK per hour, but we had fun.
Traders make a ton of money in EVE. I know people who have never left Jita 4-4 for the last couple of years and they log in everyday just to play market PvP.
Wormhole living is where I make most of my ISK. It's a little more risky and requires a lot of traveling and scanning to find a good target system, but the rewards are excellent. Some weekends I can pull in 250-300 million from clearing out a couple of C1/C2s. If I'm lucky I can find a C3/4 and make closer to 500 million in the same time but I spend a lot of time scanning for them.
A single new pilot will not do well alone in any of these situations, but those new pilots can do very well by making some friends or joining a corp that likes to do group activities. Although I can handle anything up to a C3 alone, I always invite new players into my fleets whether it is mission running, incursions or sleeper sites. They may not be able to do what I can due to a lack of skillpoints, but by showing them what right looks like and providing guidance on what skills are important to do the task, they can learn how to earn their own ISK faster. |

One of the tutorial missions destroys your ship, no matter what you are flying, so I am sure that has to account for some of the losses. |

All money making activities in EVE offer higher rewards in the lower security systems by design. Ratting, Salvaging Sleepers, Ore Mining, Gas Mining, L5, FW, and Pirate Faction Missioning, Moon Mining, Research, Exploration, Capital Construction….they all pay out significantly higher rewards with significantly higher logistical requirements.
I don’t know what to tell you if you believe everything else in EVE is wrong and PI was the one thing that was done right previously.

Originally posted by Gdemami Nothing else in the entire game has the same conditions across all systems. Why should PI be any different? |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Originally posted by Gdemami It's not very complex to me. I see no problems with how this works as long as new or old players can continue making a profit off high sec PI with zero risk and make larger profits off PI in low sec (more costs+ more logistics + more risks) and even higher profits off of null/unknown space (highest cost to maintain + largest logistics requirement + highest risk).
I think it's way too early to tell how profitable high sec PI will be since the change is barely 3 days old and many of us still have large quanities of PI purchased at the old rates. In 3-6 months the numbers should show how good or bad of a decision this was and CCP can tweak it from there. |

Yes we actually have to pay taxes now for PI...it's not the end of the world. The prices will go up in several areas to balance the higher taxes but like everything else in EVE, it won't happen over night. |

CCP Diagoros posted a pretty informative dev blog today with a bunch of PvP stats that I found interesting. Here is just a small portion of the numbers given. In total, 13,540,707 ships or structures were destroyed in this period in PVP, belonging to 1,075,754 characters or corporations. NPCs destroyed 7,559,088 ships belonging to 1,936,205 characters. That makes a total of 21,099,795 ships/structures blown up belonging to 2,251,177 different owners. To be fair a lot of those are rookie ships and such, but either way – that’s a lot of explosions.

I play EVE so I'm probably more biased toward it, but I have tried PO and it just never drew me in like EVE.
In terms of fun, I find flying in space much more enjoyable and different than the other 99.9% of the MMOs on the market that involve around walking/running on a planet. I'm not a huge Mech fan so that probably doesn't help.
EVE has been around for many more years and has a much larger dev team so naturally they have much more stuff to do.
As far as the playerbase goes, I would bet that Jita alone has a higher population than all of PO. Small populations do not make a bad game though, it is just more noticeable during slow periods.
PO is very similar to EVE in some ways so the learning curve is similar at times. As mentioned earlier, EVE has been around a lot longer and has many more things to do than PO so there is much more to learn in EVE and a lot more people who have been playing EVE for years who sometimes forget that they were noobs once.
As witnessed in this thread, some people will try to scare you aware from EVE by making it sound much less forgiving than it is. The truth is, every MMO has some form of griefing in it and some way to avoid it. If you ignore all the indicators around you and try to play EVE like no one else can have an impact on your game play then you will be in for a rude awakening, but if you pay even a small amount of attention to what is happening around you, most bad situations can be avoided.
Both games offer a free trial so there really is no reason not to try both. |

Am i the only one who always turns off music in games immediatly?
General Gaming « General Discussion 11/28/11 9:17:59 PM
The very first thing I do in a game is turn off the music so you aren't alone. :)
I'm almost always on vent or TS3 so having music playing interferes with my online activities. |

Great story, mediocre MMO, is that it?
General Discussion « Star Wars: The Old Republic 11/19/11 12:28:47 PM
Originally posted by stealthbr I never said anything about running the same flashpoint over and over again, back to back. I'm just talking about repeating the same content each time you level a new toon which is what we have been doing for months in beta.
I started playing MMOs with EQ so running dungeons every night is one of my favorite activities in a game. With TOR that is just no longer an option for me due to how terrible the flashpoints are after the first time through. First run is friggin awesome! After that I never wanted to step foot into one again. |
