Brad McQuaid was a prime example of that, imo.

I heard that the avatar combat SUCKED, but it sounds as though they're progressing. I'm not looking for a wow-killer; just something that will ease my MMO withdrawals. Something like sucky avatar combat could possibly ruin it for me, but hopefully that won't be the case. I can't wait to hear more from this one.

Even if the Avatar Combat isn't your thing the ship combat looks to be amazing.

Ever since the removal of Suwari, and the almost total lack of any new info for the past year or so, I'm firmly in the "Meh..." camp. If I get Spellborn later this year, I'll be there for a few years, and I don't play more than one MMO at a time. So unless CoS is pretty bad, HJ won't be seeing me sign up for a while, if ever.

Is it just me, or has the number of english-speaking forum posts on the official site dramatically reduced?

Being that I've not played for about a year, I'm not really sure what that means. Was there another mass exodus of players shortly after the buyout? If the state of the population is worse now than when it was when I left, it makes me not want to renew my sub (which I think about doing now and again).

If, as I'm sure many will say, "Everything is fine..." then why has forum activity gone down so much there?

It wouldn't surprise me at all if EI didn't have the decency to actually announce it was closing the game down, either.

It basically boils down to what Rehmes said. There's a difference between just swearing at people because you're PvPing and caught up in the fight, and verbal abuse. I think the issue is a lot of people don't seem to know there's a difference.

Yet strangely, it's Conan that's lately been getting a lot of bad vibes about immaturity, and not WAR.

There's a reason for that, and it's illustrated blatantly in this article.  Because one company is marketing it's product like adults, based on it's gameplay and design rather than on 'Woot! We got bewbies and blood!' and doesn't have to keep repeating 'It's mature! IT'S MATURE DAMMIT' while acting the total opposite almost every time it advertises itself.

I'll let you guess which company is which.

Im irritated by spoiled (dont have to work a normal job, or deal with the average public) gamers who dont understand a lot of people play these games for escape.   I don't want politeness and pansies in my action movies... or in my MMO's.

Perhaps your problem is you didn't know what kind of game you were getting into.  Here's one you'll like http://play.toontown.com/webHome.php

Go back to marketing N00b

Ah, the irony.

You know, most people don't consider treating others with basic respect as a 'chore' that they need to play a game to 'escape' from.

It's telling that you'd feel the need to be a troll just because someone prefers to play a game for different reasons than you. I think it has less to do with what games you like to play, and more to do with the fact that you apparently just like to get your rocks off by being a jerk online in general.

"It's a mature game. Hyboria is a brutal world. It's savage. It's violent. It's sexy. There's no pink hearts and pretty fireballs. Heads will roll!"
"We have boobs in our game!" The demo room was in the basement of the Fairmont hotel and rigged up to look like a dungeon. Booth babes were on hand to pass out grotesque shrunken heads on a string.
"See? It's good to be a healer. You have a naked lady buffing you."

'Mature' ...Right.  Then why does the guy sound so hilariously juvenile?

Newsflash... there's a way to make something mature, graphic and sexual without  acting like a horny pre-teen. The fact that Funcom can't seem to market their content except like randy little boys, makes me feel that 'adult' is the LAST word you could use to describe this game and it's devs.

The learning curve for Ryzom is steep. Took me about a week just to learn the basics on the Newbie Island, by reading all the quest dialogues and asking a lot of questions in the Help Channel. The stanza system is pretty cool though, once you get it.

A lot of people don't have the patience for all that effort just to learn the basic mechanics, though.

Call me a noob.. But I guess I'll never understand furries.  I guess people like cute things.  I guess people want to share cute things.  But sometimes the cuteness goes a bit overboard, doesn't it?

I'm not at all trying to discount the legitimacy of likeing furries or even dressing up like a giant purple bear.  I assume its more about being a part of a social group of common interests.  But why furry creatures?  To me dressing up as anything seems foreign but I guess I'm a bit of a baseball fanboy myself (in which I dress up in Giants gear almost daily).  Furry creatures seem a bit on the saccharin side of life.  Where's the drama?  Where's the conflict?  What is the purpose of being furry if there is no goal except being cute?  Again I am purely curious.

Also, what would a furry community be like in this medium of second life?  Would you only allow furries to be a part of it or would you open your doors to allowing others to visit. I'd be curious to pay a visit to such a community because I am so unfamiliar with it.

Gawd, 'cute' is not the word. The more you know, the more you want to run away screaming. It's basically just a sex fetish for stuffed/anthropomorphic animals.

If you want to know more than that, you're on your own. Welcome to the internet and all the shades of crazy it contains. =P

The drama and gross incompetance that surrrounded HZ's development was almost as good as Vanguard's, imho. =P

Good Lord, if that is your take on it, by all means, sign up immediately!!

I'm telling you, it's the playable dragons. They're like the sticky bits in a venus flytrap, people are just attracted to that despite the obvious facts. People will suffer crazy amounts all in the name of the dragons, believe me, I know firsthand. =P

In my opinion, the game is rotting dead in the water, with 95% of the map empty and pointless with no hope for the future. Don't bother.

Well, there's the Panzer Dragoon series (even though you're riding one technically), and I saw a game called 'I, of the Dragon' a while back where you played a dragon. I don't know if it was any good, though.

I seriously doubt PotBS is being run by someone as deluded and clueless as Brad McQuaid.

Vanguard didn't fail because of SOE, they failed because Sigil was run by incompetants.

People like to blame SOE for everything just because of SWG, and y'all need to get over it already.

3. Generally disrespectful attitude: Yes.
4. Warnings in the past: Yes. "

EDIT: Oh yeah, and wow the Daevi look awesome.  Yes they look a little otherwordly and the feet could be a bit smaller, but its just so wicked to see a character like that.  I'd rather be the creepy demon than an elf.

I also like the Daevi. If you don't like 'em, don't play em.

It's not like bashing on the race will make it get taken out of the game, all it does is make you look like a troll, especially if you word it offensively. The only reason why you'd do that is to start an argument.
