ANET! Y U NO BETA DiS WEEK?!?!

Two Warrors different destinies? Are we sure about that? Are the personal story endings different from person to person?

No the skills curve and auto-aim, but characters have a dodge roll ability usable if you have enough energy on a meter or something like that...however nobody seems to use it.

Skills don't curve or auto aim. If you shoot them at a direction they go in that direction until they hit their max range or something gets in the way. Some skills home-in but they are mostly like lasers with a constant stream, and only one skill I know of actually follows the target, it's called homing missile or something of the sort and it's an underwater skill for the Engineer.

That's the point, in the trinity your role in combat is simple. As tank you hold aggro, as DPS you dish out damage, as healer you heal. End of story. As everything a bit, your role constantly shifts. While that sure is cool, how many player can actually cope with that? I wonder.

It is not rocket science. Help your team-mate where you can. Once you figure out how to play your character everything else will follow. You'll know how to support without resorting to heals, you'll know how to tank without resorting to taunts. It's all about learning the professions, and then the question becomes; how many people can learn their profession?

I’ll be playing GW2 primarily for their WvW content so I will be very curious to see how an expansion adds to that aspect of the game.

New Zone.... in the Desolation Elona where you can gain the favour of the Junundus to ride safely across the wastes and siege castles from a different entrance or maybe the Jade sea, that's always a good place to punch people in the face. Actually.... Jade sea has got me thinking... SIEGE TURTLES!!! It would be cool to see Siege Turtles in GW2 graphics.

I assume the expansions will be a lot like the original Guild Wars expansions.

I'd like to see mini expansions that include things like a single race, class, or a small explorable area with a new dungeon. These things could be put out more often and sold through the cash shop instead of being done as a boxed expansion.

I don't think that many games benefit from large, world changing expansions. EQ was great and then came Kunark. I liked Kunark but I hadn't finished Kunark content (lots of alts) before Velious had come out. Velious was okay, but the world started feeling stretched as the populations in each zone dropped. When Luclin came out I didn't buy it. I still had things to do in Kunark and Velious... but most everyone else did. The content that I hadn't yet finished in Kunark and Velious became obsolete to anyone with Luclin because the gear paled in comparison and the game seemed like a ghost town to me.

Wow is similar. Last time I played WoW nobody ever went to any of the BC zones.

Given that GW2's land mass is replayable, expanding the land mass would spread the population even more than in other games where everyone is forced into a few high level zones.

I don't see how the problem will affect GW2 more than any of the other games. In fact, the system in place in GW2 will allow for them to put content anywhere in the game and it would still be viable for everyone. Expanding the landmass is inevitable because of the lore and history of the game. I personally want to see what the hell happened to Elona and how that bistard Palawa Joko is handling things with dragon minions knocking at his gate.

GUILD WARS BABY!!!!!

I don't think we, the open beta guys, are going to see anything past 30. I think going to level 40 and beyond is for the closed beta guys.

Noq -  its actual very simple-  raids separate the community.

Nothing ArenaNet do is about separating community.

I support ArenaNets choice here

Nothing separated the GW1 community more than pvp ranks and emotes.

Hehe, yea. People will always find something to be elitist about.

@ Topic

In general, Guild Wars always has good loot. I don't know if their colour scheme is still the same but you can probably get Greens (none modifiable stat gear), golds (modifiable but can have really high requirements to wear), blues (you can modify them to your hearts content but they aren't better than a gold weapon) and the whites which just plain suck. And the golds to whites should be acquired by doing events and dungeons while the greens are usually only named monster drops and dungeon boss drops and stuff like that. You can also get runes and sigils to modify your gear with.

So yea, in a nutshell there is non-cosmetic stuff BUT Anet's philosophy is that a person shouldn't be gimped because they do not want to do a certain type of content. So if I choose not to do dungeons, I may not get the named green gear but I can get "not-so-cool-looking" gold gear out in the world and in my personal story which I can modify to best fit my needs and some can even be modified to be similar to greens stat-wise. You, on the other hand, may decide that you want to do  dungeons and you can get a green drop, for you that is a proud thing to have because they are rare and they usually have rare skins so you can show off your green Ghostly sword that you got from the Ascalonian dungeons and tell me how it steals health each time you attack and all that jazz while I stick to my gold of "not-looking-so-awesome" and just have it for the stats which are equal to the stats that you have but just my weapon doesn't look as good as yours.

What about Guild Wars 1?

They had a cash shop for many years - and still do. And it never turned into "pay to win". So clearly it CAN be done... don't you think?

And the great news is, the same company that ran the cash shop in GW1 is doing GW2!

As far as I know, Guild Wars 1 never allowed item mall currency to be traded for ingame currency which could be used in the auction.  By allowing that in Guild Wars 2, competitions regarding wealth, vanity and crafting become Pay-to-Win depending on the form of those competitions. Keep in mind that PvP is not necessarily the only competition people care about.

And GW1 also didn't allow in-game currency to be shifted to item mall currency which allows for a win-win for both parties who partake in the trade. Keep in mind that you can buy many of the boosts, lockboxes and keys in the shop, from in-game vendors and merchants as well and the only thing a person playing the game could really want from the item mall is a costume or more character slots.

If you're not swapping weapons, you're playing the game wrong.

That sounds horribly tedious, and I hope its not accurate.

I hope too, sounds like you don't have choice at all. :[

Not utalizing all options your character has available means you're not playing to your max potential that the designers base the class around. So, while you have a choice not to do it, you're limiting yourself.

So you can't choose for instance sword/mace rotation to build up personal style or for range weapon to choose between bow/gun/... if you must use everything for full potential means that every single warrior will have same game play.

Wrong. Read; http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Traits

Wow I didn't expect to get such a discussion going.  I didn't mean to be troll, it is a legitamate concern, and I probably will end up passing on GW2 or waiting until I can get it for less.

As many people have said, I don't think you should be forced to swap weapons.  If I want to play with 1 weapon set you should be able to without being greatly gimped.  People say you have to pull out a bow for ranged attacks, but thats just not being creative.  Why not have attacks where you throw your swords?

I have been looking at Secret World since that does seem more my style, you can mix and match your skills or pick all of them from the same type, and I really like that.

My problem is not with the fact there is only 5 skills, but the fact they never ever change.  If I choose to specialize in one weapon, it'd be nice to get advanced skills for that weapon.

My coworker is not playing GW2 because she can't be a straight up healer.  She doesnt want to be forced to DPS or anything, she just wants to heal and you can't do that in GW2.

There are people who like to do specific things, and GW2 forces you to do everything.  If all you can tell those people is "play a different game", alright.

You don't have to swap weapons but you'd be better off trying to diversify a bit even if you only use one skill from the other weapon set.

Actually, like the OP, I have a very specific preference when it comes to weapons. I like using Bows and Swords exclusively. If the game will require me to swap weapons to maximize my output I guess I'll play a very minor role in PvP or avoid it entirely.

You can use bows and swords with the warrior and the ranger...not sure what else.

Thief can use a sword/dagger combo and use a short bow. That's about it, I think.

Thieves can use, dual pistols, dual daggers, Swords only in the main hand and a Shortbow.

The OP is biased! Where is my over 9000 selection?!!!!! I demand a remake of this poll!

On a more serious note, I think they sold 50k copies. Mostly because not a lot of people are going to buy the game before it's got a release date.

I think the "sign up and play now" button should be changed to "prepurchase now" people might be misled and think the game is out now when it isn't.

What's up with these self proclaimed british people today? The price of games over here is between 29.99 and 60 pounds! The fact that you don't want to pay 49.99 is no one's beez wax, go sit on your couch and watch Eastenders or something! No need to tell us about your principles of money spending.

 Really?

REALLY?

Why, oh why , is there continual emphasis on the "we don't have a trinity" aspect of this game?

For those who are burying their heads in the sand....  THERE IS A TRINITY. You will still have healers, you will still have tanks, and you will still have Dps. They have changed the system to some extent but it is alive and well. What Guild Wars 2 trinity doesn't have : Whack-a-mole heals, Taunts. What it does have : Single Target Heals, Rescues, Group heals, AoE Heals, Regens- HoT's ( Which have always been stronger then flat heals in Guild Wars), Damage mitigation abilities, shields, reflects.

For the love of everything that is holy in Mmo's stop confusing the playerbase by stating Guild Wars 2 doesn't have a trinity. It absolutely does, its changed ... but its still present.

-- Yes I have pre-purchased ,  Yes I'm looking forward to the game. Yes I will running a pvp team as a Healer/support.

Sorry dude, no single target heals in GW2, just ground targetted AoE heals (including regen) which aren't as powerful as self heals so maybe YOU have got it wrong.

no release date, coupled with no cash shop info and no region lock info have made me decide not to pre-purchase.

im sure i wont be missed.  but if we are to hold A-net to higher standards as they suggest we do.  Except they dont listen to cries from fans of potential foul play.  It seems seems more like marketing speech, (everything they say that is.)   I,  we are just dollar signs in their eyes.  They can talk about difference,  and taking the community's interest into account, but i just dont see it.  I won't purchase until i do.

Yeah. The whole "Hold us to higher standards, yet feel free to purchase our game before you really have enough accurate info to decide if we are indeed upholding said standards", is a bit puzzling. And I feel that there is a very possible whiff of NCsoft bullsh*t about it.

You can get into beta weekends without prepurchasing the game and also NDA drop for the next beta weekend and also you could stop being whiny and wait to hear what people say after the beta weekend. Seriously who is holding a gun to your head and telling you to prepurchase? It's other people's business if they choose to prepurchase, why the hell do you care? Mind your own beez wax.

And to the OP

What's with this "I'm English" pretentious BS? I'm also "English" and I think you should go be "English" somewhere else.

The Renger has camouflage which is different from stealth because it decloaks you if you move and presumably stays on indefinitely if you don't.

So Neverwinter is DCUO and TERA wrapped into one with a Cryptic touch....? I might like it.
