One other thing:  how much merit do we put behind those leaked screenshots from a while back?  Those are what gave me the impression that it was FFXI-2, because the graphical stylings are nigh identical.

I realize that any straight answer I recieve will be purely speculation, but do we have any sort of idea when this might come out?  Like, around when FFXIII releases maybe?

The only reason I ask is because I sort of want to re-sub to FFXI, but I don't want to waste money/time if the newer version will be out sooner rather than later.

Does anyone know if this is gonna be p2p?  If so, I'm out.

But of course, there's always those special kinds of servers...

Just get over it and move on with your life.  Look at all this time you've spent whining when you could have been playing.  Gold sellers will never go away.  You need to accept this...

No, you don't need to accept this, Mythic stated that they have a 0 tolerance for this kind of thing and that they have a crack team of people doing something about it. Oh yea? A crack team that takes 2 days to reply and in some cases I still haven't recieved a reply in over a week yet the gold spam is steady AND the ignore system doesn't block them???

This is annoying, I don't accept it, I never see gold spam in City of Villians, I never see it in wow due to mods.

So you can do something about it.... Cancel your account. Play something less buggy and without gold spam loopholes with smoother gameplay such as WoW or CoV.

  1. You have apparently not played an MMORPG at launch before.  Having bugs is just part of the launch process.  However, I've seen Mythic do a fairly good job at fixing the bugs in this game so far.  That includes your comment about the ignore feature not working (they just patched that).
  2. No gold spam in CoV?  I never got gold spam tells... but I frequently got gold spam in game mail messages when I played (over a month ago).  Therefore, I highly suspect you're lying about that one.
  3. Yay for you that you stated that you get no gold spam in WoW.  However, you specifically state that "due to mods."  Umm... doesn't that show that not even the almighty powerful Blizzard can't do anything about gold spammers without outside help?  Therefore, your point is moot.
  4. Face it... you mention CoV and WoW like they're in the same league as WAR.  WAR = PvP centric.  CoV and WoW = PvE centric (despite that Blizz is currently trying to focus on PvP stuff, it is still built as a PvE game).

WAR has been out for a little over two weeks officially.  Therefore, it is still under launch phase.  Thus, bugs will still be prevalent.  However, Mythic has shown anyone who has an sincere interest in this game that they are working on fixing those bugs and problems.  That includes beating down gold spammers.

What he said.

Exactly, 30fps for me is unacceptable. I will not play war, I will not play AOC with my six month old alienware, because of this. I will only play those games which are optimized to run. WOW, Everquest, etc.

What a ridiculous statement.  The human eye can't detect past 17 fps, so quit your complaining and stop buying e-machine quality PC's.

No, see, people are to blame here.  When everyone chooses to play on five servers because they like the name better, it's no one's fault but their own.  Mythic even cloned the massive servers, allowing people to move to less populated servers and to alleviate the problems.  Guess what no one did.

See, in your mind, using large, complex words makes you seem witty and deep.

/whisper

It doesn't.

As for everything you said, you can throw it out.  Never once did I see WAR touted as a sandbox game, or anything more than an MMOPVP game.  Yes, it's classified as an MMORPG, but almost every online game is nowadays (Runescape, really?).

Not sure where you got your info from, but it was wrong.

Why don't the guys that complain about that "highlighted part" go back to the Warhammer board.  You're not building up hype for that game by spamming this game's forum.  If you want to steal players from a game, go to the WoW boards since Warhammer is just Wow 2.0.

Technically, everything Warcraft is based on Warhammer, so WoW is more like Warhammer 3.5 (three Warcraft games, .5 goes to the online element).

Anywho, back on topic.  I've heard many things from many people.  Three of my friends are in beta, and they all say different things.  What that tells me is either: a, the game has no broad appeal, and only opens it's doors to a certain type of MMO gamer, or b, my friends are morons.  Could be either, at this point.  I'm gonna work this game just like any other:  ask around, (now here's the key part) play it, and see if I like it.

Reading these kinds of posts makes me laugh, too.  The fanboi's always post first, and try to quibble semantics with the OP's writing.  Everyone should just butt the hell out, because this guy's opinion doesn't mean jack ****.  No offense to the OP, but no one will ever feel exactly the same about this game as he does, so what's the point of arguing?  He likes it, cool.  You might find it buggy and not good.  That's cool too.  In the end, it REALLY doesn't matter, because we're discussing a video game.  And unless there's some formula in it's code that cures cancer, 10 years will pass and no one will remember it.

*edit*:  Btw, is it true that the game has a memory leak, or is that old news?

And just for future reference, 'role-playing' is hyphenated, so it counts as one word.

Playing as your alter ego.

I didn't read all of your post, but the things I glanced over seemed to be the attempts at balancing the game for PvP.  Which is one of the reasons I quit, lol.

*edit*:  What you seem to be missing is the fact that Brutes aren't supposed to be as good as Scrappers or Tankers.  They're a hybrid class (as is almost everything in CoV).  They shouldn't have as much HP or damage output as either of the aforementioned, because they're not supposed to.

Tankers tank, so they have high resists and HP.  Scrappers deal damage, so they have higher damage output.

Brute is a bastardized attempt to do both, and so therefore, has neither of those things.

Sony has donated them PS3, and now they are praising PS3. It might mean that PS3 are actually good for them, but I still don't think that their evaluation can be considered neutral.

You very conveniently skipped the "partial" in that statement.

More than likely, Sony donated ten-ish and then the rest were purchased.

It got really bad when I was playing City of Heroes, I had servers full of level 5-10 characters .

I'm with you 100%

When I first started CoH, I had 20 toons, all under level 15.  Btw, I just started FFXI back up, and I'm loving just as much as the fist time I subbed.

Uhmmm...UT and Quake require quite a bit of tactics.  Controlling weapons and power ups is where you get your strategy elements in those games.  Thats probably why you liked R6 over those other games because you don't have to worry about your enemy picking up the +100 health power up or quad damage.

No, see, most people who play SOCOM or Rainbow Six only see tactics as "Okay guys, you flank, Bob and I are going in the front."   Because, you know, everything only has one definition.

Most of Lotro players probably wouldn't like the idea of real-time dodging.

Which is kind of sad. People prefer the easy, care-bear style of playing, and I think this is one of the pitfalls that has caused much of the decline in the quality of recent MMO releases.

Or maybe some of us prefer to sit back and relax during a PvE exchange.  If I want to dodge or time my attacks, and all that BS, I'll play an FPS or a fighter.

Granted, there have been some s*** mmo's recently.

#1.  If the official SE windower is out yet (I couldn't find it, but I didn't look all that much).

#2.  Why 3rd party windowers are illegal.  I can understand if you were to use plugins that show other's TP/MP/HP, but if we just wanted to run it windowed, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal.

P.S., I've been told that SE can't trace a windower.  That's not saying I'll ever use one...I'm just curious...

*edit*: spelling, grammar

Thanks for the cynicism, but I was just being rushed out the door and wanted an answer by the time I got back.

But anywho, thanks for the info.  I finished playing about 8-10 months ago, and just wanted to know if the server populations had changed much since then.

I'm sure there are dozens of posts about this, however I don't have the time to search right now.  Can someone please give me the top 3 most populated servers in the game?  (I was on Asura, and around level 43 I had severe trouble finding a group)
