No thanks, I like EQ the way it is and was. Nothing lasts forever.  EQ1 had its moment, its gone, its over and it will never come back.  Pretty much your either a Vet or your playing something else.

I appreciate your desire, and perhaps there will be another EQ in the far future, but leave this EQ alone.

GoD - sucked the balls off a donkey

Even with all the new gear and abilities, it still is just plain no fun.

Otherwise I await the last 6 month expansion before they turn to a yearly, enjoyed all the expansions.

Try not to think of it as catching up, but relearning and experiencing the game. If you go in just wanting to get to end game after 4 years, you have a huge road to travel and an enormous amount of time to invest.

But on the other hand, if you have some AA's from previous and level 65 getting to 75 shouldnt be too hard and then you just need to grind out AA's and gear will come along as you go. Lots of decent gear is available now through vendors with points accrued from doing certain instance missions.  Gear isn't your worry, its more about your playtime, skill and abundance of AA's you require to move through the zones you will need for that next better gear set.

But be honest, if all you want is to catch up, well it aint never gonna happen. Enjoy the game for what it is.  There is still plenty of guilds doing PoP encounters, Time and GoD (albeit alot easier nowadays)

Don't think Im trying to turn you off EQ, I truly would love to see you rejoin the folds, but you have to know what you really want out of it or you will be very dissapointed and become another "EQ is dead, give me a Classic Server, Its too different now" poster with nothing but fond old Pre PoP memories and a new bad impression.

If your mother didn't take care of you out of love and commitment to your future...........keep her hands off of your cash. Sure helping her out if shes in need would be a good thing in return for that love, but burning a grand gambling a month, sounds like shes in it for the cash now that you have some.  She should be happy you have an opportunity and your health. Of course this is only based on what you have stated.

Only thing that concerns me is what happens if you tell her to stuff it.

Anyway good luck in your decision, I truly wouldn't want to be in your shoes

I remember it like it was yesterday.

Tandy 1000 EX

The Tandy 1000 EX was designed as an entry-level IBM compatible personal computer. The EX was a compact computer that had the keyboard and 5.25" drive built into the computer casing. The 5.25" drive was accessible from the side of the computer, on the right hand side. The EX was marketed as a starter system for people new to computing, and sold for $1000.00 from Radio Shack in December of 1986.

King's Quest was my favorite!

Not like you can't see through it, but it still gave me a chuckle.

*** Highlights ***

New Character Models!

We are pleased to announce that we have developed new technology that allows us to change the character models for all races at the same time. This includes the following:

- New Graphics Engine: We completely overhauled the EverQuest graphics engine. . . yes again. All character models have been retextured using this new technology and the results are beyond anyone???s wildest dreams.
- Dynamic effects for animations: Each movement of the model now acts as a separate entity, allowing more life-like animations.
- Enhanced weapon visage: While we didn???t change the look of the weapons, they sure look better on the new character models.

*** Items ***

- Removed some unnecessary stats on Solteris items.
- Fixed a problem with Journeyman's Boots.
- Removed all keys that unlock doors from the world.

*** Quests & Events ***

- By popular request, we removed all quests and raids from the game. Loot from these events is now found in the form of ground spawns.
- Added 200 new quests in the Slamming Door quest series.

*** Spells ***

- All spells have been renamed to include Al'Kabor in the name. Long live the King!
- Created a new Enchanter spell, Charm Door.

*** Zones ***

- Fixed the door that leads into Sverag, Stronghold of Rage.
- Burned Woods has been moved. We'll leave it up to you to find out where it went.
- Halflings have been kicked out of Rivervale. Their new home is in Runnyeye... yeah, that's where it is.

*** Classes ***

- Rangers are now working as intended.
- Bards have gained the ability to yodel.
- Magicians can now use an Open Sesame ability to open locked doors.

*** NPCs ***

- Snakes still don't kick. I mean, seriously...
- NPCs now lock the doors to their shops and homes at night. Quit waking them up in the middle of the night!

*** Tradeskills ***

- A recipe for Ngreth's Nutritional Nightcap has been added. This drink will give some very nice stats, but will make the player drunk (player, not character). However, you'll have to seek out this recipe on your own.
- Alchemy is not broken.
- A new tradeskill has been added: Doorcraft. Recipes from this tradeskill will allow you to modify existing doors throughout the world including changing knobs, resetting hings, and patching holes in the door.

If you havn't read by now, the progression servers are combining right away, will be a pretty busy server once that happens, so would be a good option for getting in while they are still getting rolling.

Hey there! Its never to late to get into Everquest.  Are you looking for a social grouping/solo experience or for end game raiding? If its not End game, the casual player can still find alot of enjoyment in EQ. Otherwise be prepared to spend a couple thousand hours, leveling, AA's and gear, flagging to even be considered for a High end raid guild.

Progression servers are quite popular atm and have a healthy population.

We have several older generation folks in our guild including a near 70 year old gent.

If you are to buy, the Titanium set is a good start with most of the expansions, but apparently they are coming out with a new package deal including all expansions other than TBS.

Anyway best bet is to just spend the 20$ on Titanium and set forth in Norrath!

Go for it. EQ still has a lot going for it. Don't let any haters (this site is full of them) tell you otherwise, make up your own opinion.

I got a buddy key for VG I am going to use next week, to make my mind up on how it stacks up to all the comments on here!

Just hold on a bit longer as they will be introducing a new all-in-one package except for TBS. And for the $20 (est) it'll cost you cannot beat it. Yes missing the last 6 expansions will hurt your enjoyment if you like to group, if you solo, you can probaby make do if you have no plans on playing for awhile after your free play!

No sorry the first to solo I do not know, but I shall see what I can dig up. I pressume it will be a necro IMO, but alas that is just speculation.

Trakanon
Raid Encounter
Shadowknight

Level 65

It was Trakanon who led the assault on the Iksar Empire, raidng their cities before taking up residence in Venril Sathir's old stronghold of Sebilis. He has managed to dodge death, and seems to have come out even better off.

He claws for 650, with a sickening melee range, and his breath attack has been known to kill whole groups in minutes.

It is Trakanon who drops the Breastplates for the Kunark Class specific armour.

Only the triggered version drops the Undead Dragongut Strings required for the bard epic.

--------------------

Just taken off of Alla's.  Certainly back in the day he was a bad ass, but nowadays soloable by many classes, if not all of them.
