MMOs are hard to be made innovative. Most things are tried and small are the numbers of things that can be added to them. Luckily a lot of companies still try to make something new, something unique and if those things work, others just copy them.
So to answer the question, I think MMOs do evolve but very slowly. They evolved a lot since the first MMOs and are still changing today. You can find almost any type of MMO out there right now, you just have to decide what you want.

( This is partly the reason why people say they do not like a game for different reasons. They just have to find one they do. In my opinion these games should be played for a long time and only a few of them so you can concentrate on them more. Constantly changing games leads to boredom. )

Hmmm. I might get back and see it for myself. I hope you will write more about your experience. Please do!

Nothing personal here, just my thoughts on flaming in general:

As a (hopefully) intelligent person, one can decide wether to like a game or not. All flaming and such are so useless. The fanboys won't like their game less, nor will the ones flaming start to play the game they trashtalk about.

While there are similiarities, it cannot really be called a clone of WoW (If so, each and every MMO game could be called a clone of the other).
It's up to you to decide what you like, then play it.

One option is to talk with the guardians at the shining spots (as it was stated before).
The other is to bring up the map (M key) and click the Free flight button (on the top right corner). Then click a spot on the map and you will start flying. Also not that it costs a small fee to do this.

Yes, the flying is in. Although you can't control the flying itself, you can click any spot you want and your sword/cloud/etc will take you there.
It looks and feels pretty good let me tell you.
Also it cost a small fee which gets more and more as you gain levels in the game.
About free flight, I don't know. I'm not even sure there will be an option like that.

I had the chance to try the game and so far it looks really promising. I hope they keep up the good work.

I can't really say anything but what others have said. I'm sitting on needles.
I can only hope that the requirements will not be too high so I can run it on my computer as well.

Thing is, it's not the games, it's you. MMORPGS are pretty much the same, they have the same goals, etc. Some try to add new ideas to charm new players, but they are still the same genre after all.
You do not find them good after a time, but they are the same as always, you just simply got bored of them. That is why you will not find a new one, not one will be as much fun as the first, ever.

You might want to try Anarchy Online as an Engineer. It is pretty fun and has a good crafting system. The game can be played for free but it has oldie graphics.

I would wait until a few more updates to come for Lord of the Rings Online since it is a rather new game and it is constantly changing. Play an another game until you find it okay to subscribe.

Back on to the topic then...

I am not a parent either, but am an older player. I often found myself geting bored while playing in the past. I then realized that I should play to have fun, to relax. Once the game gets boring, it is the time to think about what you really are doing. In most cases, just wasting your time.
I'm in a fortunate situation  right now, since my partner plays too. We do our things during the day and sit down to play a couple hours when we feel like that in the evenings. This way you already have a group and you spend time with your partner too.

When I bought my Copperhead a long time ago I immidiately bought the mouse pad and the rest as well (they were cheaper together too). All my friends were like: "You are crazy, you should have upgraded your processor or something". But I still feel it was a good deal and I love all things Razer.

I have no knowledge of the game's class system but if it is strictly based on the movie, then I guess you might not be able to choose your gender (a male bead fairy would look gross anyway).

By the way "that chick" is Zhang Ziyi and she is a wonderful actress. She played in Hero; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon; The House of Flying Daggers and a lot more.
I bought the movie Zu Warriors just because of her and I look forward to the game.

All the ideas mentioned above are great, add to them a good crafting system and you have innovation. I do not see why can't they try to make it like that? No pain, no gain.

Anyway, the craft system should be more complex than just a click on the recipe if you have the required items.
I like the way Anarchy Online does it. If you want to make a rifle for example, you have to craft a triger, and stuff. All those parts build up from other materials so in the end you need quite a lot of things for just one item. Add quality level to that and it gets even better.
If you make it more enjoyavle then just clicking, you get your uber craft system of all times. What I mean with this is that if you want to make a blade for a sword, you should use the forge, the blacksmith's hammer, etc (actually use it, not just clicking on it).
Now that would be really great. I hope some day some game will have a system like this.
