This argument is always pointless, espescially when the guy says "weapons like a lightsaber" as if "weapons like a gun" are not expected to kill someone in one shot. A quick search on the internet will reward you with several videos of swords cutting heads off in one stroke. Saying it worked that way in the movies is equally pointless as guns generally work that way in the movies as well yet when an MMO with a gun comes around no one complains when you have to shoot the guy 30 times to kill him. |

I dont understand how people think a B2P MMO like GW2 isnt in direct competition with P2P MMO like SWTOR, WoW, etc
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 8/22/11 12:03:54 AM
I don't think anyone truely thinks a B2P game is not competition for P2P games. I do think most people understand that there is almost no financial burden that comes with playing both a P2P and a B2P at the same time game though. That would deffinately make two games like GW2 and SWTOR something which could reasonably be played by the same person at the same time. That is what I plan to do, because of that GW2 and SWTOR will not be competitors as far as my wallet is concerned which is the most important factor for both games. |

Wish I could go to Dragon con, DC is a little far out of the way for me though. As a freelance entertainment writer in the bay area I generally make my way to PAX prime, GDC and E3 as press on per diem so even though I may be of the proletariat I have found a flaw in the system which keeps us down! Any way, have fun at that thing with the satanic dice. |

are you proud to be called a casual player?
The Pub at MMORPG.COM « General Discussion 7/31/11 12:32:26 PM
I don't know where I fit in here. I probably spend 8-10 hours a day on the computer playing games. I also have a family, go to school and support my self. I would not say I am a hardcore player as far as this poll is concerned as this poll lumps grinders and hardcore players in the same group which is not always the case. I hate grinding, I hate repetitive tasks so I do not do them, a good portion of my time in a MMO is spent sitting around BSing with people though I do spend a good portion of my average day playing games but I also make a good portion of my income off of playing games so its hard to fit into any group. This poll is garbage as far as the choices go any way. It is assuming no hardcore player can like a sandbox, no sandbox player can be hardcore or casual and all casual players do not like challenge or thinking. In all honesty I think just having Hardcore and Casual as choices would have been better. |

Faxion Online: Caught Between Heaven & Hell
News Discussion « General Discussion 7/30/11 1:03:04 PM
I am seeing some mixed responses to my review, which is great. That is why I love gaming because, as with film and other forms of art, people view them and experience them with different levels of passion which can be found nowhere else in the human experience besides artistic expression. I went into this review of Faxion knowing that people’s opinions of the game reside only in the most prolific of extremes. With that being said, when zymurgeist says "The quality of the game is about average. The quality of this review is below average. It's a litany of shallow complaints that provides little information about the game itself." we all must remember that a review of anything, no matter how objectively one looks at the product, no matter how far one distances themselves from the opinions of the self and others, remember that the heart of the most venerable of written pieces it is still an opinion piece as it comes from a creature that is hopelessly opinionated on a primal level. Find a reviewer you all tend to agree with and continue to voice your opinions! =D /disengage text wall |

The truth about it is, when something to expensive because of a 15 dollar increase it is almost always because the person does not want to pay the extra money not because they literally cannot afford it financially. That does not mean it is not important for a company to price their subscription correctly though; I would not pay for a subscription above 20 dollars even though I could easily take the hit to the wallet. To put it simply, people either live above their means or bellow it almost never at it. In any situation though, 15... 20... even 30 dollars is chump change for 30 days for entertainment. That being said, I would still never pay above 20 for a subscription.

You cant seriously be judging a decision made in combat like that, there is a difference between the 2 situations. combat photograpers were killed actively covering a combat situation, it comes with the job, the men went there to cover a war zone and were killed in the fighting they were covering. Those types of journalists are the ones that run twords the gun fire to get the pictures that get them the money, it does not really matter who you are, when you are in the line of fire you WILL get shot at. The journalist who took a protograph of rebels attacking something was BEATEN by a POLICEMAN in an area where no conflict. If you were in your country and a bomb went off and you said holy shit and took a picture, or decided to write about it after words and a cop came to your door, beat you, and took your computer or destroyed your camera because you took a picture of it or wrote about it would you be like oh well guess we cant say what we want to say, or would you be like HOLY FUCK FREEDOM OF SPEECH JUST WENT OUT THE DOOR! And i know you guys have freedom of speech over there, iv been to the UK and iv seen protests there. |

Im not gonna get ot deep into this, im not a democrat or a republican. My personal opinion on the to is this, Republican's want to help everyone but when it comes down to helping them what happens is something like " hey, its not my problem, i can't put any money over there, but hey i feel for you bro hope it gets better for you." Democrats on the other hand want to give money to everything in great amounts. Democrats seem to think a system that its horribly exploitable but legitimately helps a few people who treat it right and deserve to be helped is a system worth keeping. The thing i don't like about the drilling argument is neither side acknowledges the fact that no matter how you look at it more oil in no way means cheaper gas or oil for the US wether the petro is harvested in Alaska or the middle east it does not really effect what we pay for it, what it does effect is the guy whos drilling it. The fact of the matter is, the US does not have anywhere near the production capacity for refining the oil as say, every other OPEC nation in the world. And there is never any guarentee that the oil drilled in the US will actually end up in the US. That is because no matter what country the guy drilling the stuff hails from hes simply out to make a buck, and when your in it for profit you will sell it to the highest bidder, and the highest bidder is usually someone else. Now the problem with the oil market is when you have the top producers of petro products belonging to an organization that controls production to create an increased demand in order to maximize profit you will never be able to lower the price of anything by flooding the market with the raw materials unless the raw materials are extracted and destributed by the state.... and well this is America so we dont do Communism. I hate to say it but sure the enviornment is a wonderful thing you protect but its a useless argument for no drilling and cheaper fuel is a great thing to want but its a useless point for pro drilling. The fact of the matter is, the US is going to have to move away from oil as its fuel source and come up with something else, if you want to stick it to the middle east just dont buy their oil, the only way that wokrs is if you dont use oil at all. So really IMO we need democrats and we need republican's, we need Democratic administrations everyonce in a while because they are the only ones willing to change shit that needs to be changed. You need republicans in between because they keep us from progressivley progressing up our own ass holes. |

does an iraq war veteran legitimize the protest at ubisoft for americas army?
Off-Topic Discussion « General Discussion 8/07/08 7:23:27 PM
Its not like a game glorifies war any more than a young man who has never seen war glorifies war on his own. No one forces you to join yeah you get a call from a guy who nags you untill you hang up on him or agree to atleast meet him but if you hang up he aint calling back. To take it further at MEPS at any point when you are there you can say i dont want to join and they will say, alright bye bye. Yeah sure parts of it sucks, if your in the Navy you leave home for 6 months every year unless your on shore duty. In the marines and army, you get stationed somewhere and you sit and wait untill something happens then you go to where it happened for a year and people shoot at you. If your in the air force, you have to stand up from your chair to swing your golf club. see it sucks sometimes |

The fact of the matter is, you do come from a nation who helped Poland when they needed help, You come from a nation who helped France when they needed help, your nation helped evacuate as many french and english military forces from france as they could in the battle of dunkirk, many of the boats used were civilian craft with civilian crews which is something extraordinary to say the least. You also come from a nation who lost 380 thousand soldiers and 67 some thousand civilians in the war. Well I come from a nation who lost 416 some thousand men and women fighting the same enemy you were fighting. And i dont appreciate your implying America did not help the world during the war. Americans fought and died in great numbers next to soldiers and civilians from dozens of nations around the world. Next time please choose not to trivialize such a great sacrafice. |

Way to many memories to go through =( I think the best was on Gorath There was this imperial named Ace a TKM/commando i believe, he and about 8 or so Imperials would come to anchorhead every night light clock work and have their way with the place. Now me being the weak self proclaimed "Worst PVPer on the server" was funny enough the only one with enough guts to overt and fight him half of the time. Every once and a while we would beat him and his little gang but usually not. some of the battles were really awsome though. Anyway that was from my time with crimson legion(funny bit of information i think they are the only guild in the history of guilds to ever copyright their guild name) and then after when they ceased to exist, i was just a little cantina rat and never left anchorhead because there was always something to do there, then i hooked up with another guild and stoped going never know what happened to the guy. |

who would come back if there was classic?
General Discussion « Star Wars Galaxies 7/11/07 4:50:06 AM
I would go back so quickly if it were possible, gorath and to a lesser extent ahazi got more of my attention then my actual RL for such a long time hehe. I stayed about a month into the NGE because a good friend of mine i met in the game was still there, basicly all i did for that month was sit in my house dump money into it and /tell all night. That was the kind of relationships i made in that game =( never have i been able to spend 6 hours doing something i hated (NGE) simply to talk with a friend, Im in WoW now but even there if i find theres nothing to do i will just log off. In WoW its impossible to "find something to do" which was so easy to do on SWG.
