They haven't been listening as well as you might think. I saw their post "We are listening to you".

Then they locked my post on this very subject of FPV and PvP. Just as they locked many others. So they are only listening to those who basically agree with them. At least that's the way it looks.

I'm sure it may seem that way to you but the truth is FPV is not open to discussion because it was a design descision and they have no intention whatsoever of changing it.

See Tasos? this is how things are done.

If Darkfall had done this the players that pre-ordered and beta tested could maybe have had the game ready for a real release!

One word WINGS!!!

It seems concerns about future change are well founded...for those of you excited about real pvp and the hype, expect MO to be a repeat of darkfall or worse. The funny thing is i was just expressing concern over losing the good qualities of the game should the carebears want to make it like wow. Apparently they didnt like those thoughts. I dont think i was being negative...Iwas actually excited about the game and its why i brought it up. Oh well needsless to say they attacked me for no good reason...

I really didnt see any attacks on ya...

I do think your concerns are invalid though...

Seems like a big mistake to me. Who would want to be limited to just seeing what's in front of you in a game where your enemies can come from all directions? No peripheral vision makes no sense whatsoever. They should just add the whole zoom out, zoom all the way in option.

You really needed to make another thread for this subject??

Just so ya know this will never change this game was created around this core feature along with many others... FPV is here to stay!

DarkPony pretty close but still untrue :)

The statloss system will most likely undergo some changes since the community was not happy with it.

They it was announced was:

Each player that has collected 5 Player kills when dies looses 10% of his skills. Permanetly.

However each kill count wears off with time. I think it was 5 hours per kill.

So is you kill 20 players always respecting these 5 hours you iwll never be flagged as murderer so you will never loose skills when killed.

In exchange the griefers that start killing as soon as logged will quickly loose skills and become an easy pray for PKKs.

Also it is important to know that if two guilds are in war the killin between these two guilds are not punished.

Adrala here is right, while this may be the system for now the devs have stated that this is going to be up for review during beta. So changes may be coming depending on how that all turns out!

Ouch. Permanently? So you will have to train again to catch up and stand a bigger chance to win a fight, I suppose.

Pretty harsh, to be honest. Though I can imagine a certain crowd not giving a damn about statloss and going for the kill no matter what sanction. But I reckon that group will be a lot smaller than what you see in DF, for instance.

It's only permanent if you never raise that skill again.. You can simply start training the skill after losing some it.. it's not a big deal.... Just dont die as a PK with a murder count...

I am aware of what Henrick wants for MO, so yes it's all a mute point and I hope they never change thier minds. I understand that they may have to split the community with regional servers but that is as fas as I would like it to go. I dissagree with your idea that RP and PVE servers would be a different thing, while I agree that they require a different rule set they would both serve to split the community and that is why I would be against them both.

In my mind it takes all kinds of players to make up a really healthy gaming community and segregating the types of players is not something I would want to see for MO.

Hell no dviding the community just for the sake of RP is simply not needed. I have heard all the arguments and I feel they all fall short, we have had this discussion many many times on the Mortal Online forums and none of what was said has changed my  mind.

RP players can with out a doubt play along side each and every other type of player, if we give you guys an RP server should we also give others a PVE server? Where does it end?

Anyways I vote keep the community together on one server....

Why is player housing so high up on the wish list of so called mmo players?

Wtf r u supposed to do with housing...sit home and watch the fireplace...?

Do u also want your very own cleanin biatch?

MMO's should be about adventure, pvp stuff like that.

Go out get your stuff, live in barracks while moving thru friendly zones, move fkin on...

go play sims if u need housing...

Well for one ya know all that crap that ya find deep down in the darkest depths of a dungeon? It would be nice to have someplace other than a bank slot to put it and or show it off...

Ok, i was very hyped about this game when i first saw it. The pvp system and the looting system and i loved how it was a sandbox MMO. I mean this game looked like it was gonna be sweet. Well i got on the forums and i found out that this game is not what it first apeared to be.

This game will have no /tell system over long distances( you can have guild chat channels, but only after you purchase the upgrade on your guildstone and you can /tell people only in your immediate area), no global chat, no minimap and possibly no compass, you will have to buy maps and update them because the world will constantly be being discovered, which means you dont get a world map with the outlines of the continents OR an icon that tells you where you are, HUH!?!?! Which means you have to find out where you are depending on landmarks and your maps (which 'may  not be 'accurate' says a dev.). In order to get a minimap, you will have advance in magic to get awarness spells and crap. Ok...wow, i dont know about you but my interest in this game has been all but  obliterated. This game seems to be geared almost completely toward the role-player and the developers seemed to have no interest in the casual gamer. This disapointed me extremely =(.

I find it very sad that this company would throw away such a great oppurtunity for the sake of realism and roleplayers, when the great majority of players are not roleplayers. So now you know.

All I can really say is it's about time somebody made a game like this other than Eve Online.... The best part of this is the DEVS at SV know exactly what type of game they are making and they know what kind of gamer is interested in playing it.

There are way to many hand holding games that lack any real challenge during gameplay!

/standing ovation

Don't let the title misdirect you, I am one of those individuals whom are waiting with insane-googly eyes for MO.

HOWEVER, there's a fatal flaw in what the developer's have planned for MO, and that would be ultimately restricting a player's playstyle by their viewing mode. Yea, if you haven't gotten it by now I'm talking about First Person View restriction planned for Mortal Online. Sure, it's inovative to "bring it back into the genre of MMO's", but it's the wrong move for such an appealing game. People don't like being unable to see their characters, it ruins immersion along with the overall feel of the game.

How would someone like me know anything about MMO's you might ask? Well, I've been around since the launch of EQ playing MMO's almost constantly since then...so yea I've seen pretty much all of it, and I can say for certain forcing your players to play your game in First Person ONLY is a very bad idea for an MMO. I mean seriously, have any of you ever thought of WHY FPV went out of style for MMO's when it first came out? It was only popular with a VERY small audience, and even then most of them admitted that after awhile they got frustrated with being unable to see around them.

In the end, if nothing else works, it's the fact that practically EVERY popular MMORPG before MO has been third person view. Do you honestly think people whom are coming from WoW/Daoc/WAR/AO/EvE/EQ/EQ2/Lotro will be very welcoming of being told how to view their character in an MMORPG and NOT an MMOFPS? Well, I can tell you right now that I do since I've been asking around with popular MMO guilds from these forums and others about this very same question, and I bet you'll never guess the answers I got about it :)....needless to say I don't need to go on much further with this discussion.

-Third Person view is a requirement for a game with such scope as Motral Online, anything else will kill this wonderful game. I'm sorry if you want "new innovation" in MO, but I'm sorry...forcing people into FPV only and delimiting their immersion with their character = FAIL

:)

Sadly a great many dont feel as you do. I personally love the idea of FPV only!

Change is something to be embraced, we have enough cookie cutter MMO's out there.

They whine about it.

QFT,

Change, embrace it!

Hmm how to make sense out of my topic tittle..........perhaps Heineken is helping allitle.......or not....

Lets try:

I want that holodeck experiance.........get into some fantasy world, either sci-fi or fantasy based, but not limited towards combat only, combat should be part of that virtual experience but it's should not be demanded to proceed in the world if you don't want to combat your way up.

What annoys me and keeps that reminder on it being just a game, hence lesson the immersiveness to Me I as I don't want to experience that when ever a new item, new location, new NPC I talk to....etc...etc... to give me a sound effect or popup in my view. I didn't get into MMORPG's to copy a similar experience I already got from single player or multi player games. I went into MMORPG as they provided a complete different experience.

I must admit even though I played Meridian59 and UO it was actually SWG that really got me into MMORPG's as that game provided what no other game in other genre's provided and that was actually living the life of your character on another world/time/place, that virtual experience, which to me is lacking from most current MMO's.

And nope I ain't a no-liver looking for a virtual life, but I am a GAMER looking for a different EXPERIENCE, which I thought have found with SWG (pre-cu mostly)

Perhaps it's because I play many different genre of games and enjoy them and always thought MMORPG's would evolve in much more then lets say SWG-precu but in a more polished/updeated/contented added way then other genre's provided, but apart from a bigger player base to me most current A-titlle's don't provide that much more compared to the regular multiplayer games.

Did it make any sense to you?, perhaps it did, perhaps it didn't, atleast tonight thank my friend Heineken, that started a bit to early at a conference meeting and Heineken kept stalking me when I came  home after dinner.
