If you dont plan on playing for any real length of time, seems kinda pointless to play an mmo, as a lot of the fun in an mmo is building up your character and joining a guild. Why not try Oblivion or Neverwinter Nights 2?Or the Witcher?I play mainly mmos myself, but when I became bored with the current mmos, I played Oblivion, and now
Im taking a break from mmos til WAR and AOC, so I'm playing Neverwinter Nights 2.They are great rpgs and a nice change of pace from mmos. But, if you really only like MMOs and that's it, then I suggest LotRO.I played both TR and LotRO myself, and LotRO is definatly the better game.TR has basically no PVP or crafting, and despite them trying to hide it, the combat is the same as any other generic mmo.Once you realize that, the gameplay is boring as hell.

You could try pirates of the burning sea.Pretty fun game, and has a great player run economy and PVP.

I dont know how you can stand to play those free to play asian grinders, yet not like WOW, but w/e.I suggest everquest 2,Lord of the Rings Online, or if you dont want monthly fees, try guild wars. They are all more quest based tho, altho I guess you could just mindlessly grind too, like in maple story.Lineage 2 is similar to maple story, with the AP/SP system and mindless killing mobs over and over. The grind is horrible tho and the lower levels are dead.Another option could be vanguard, as grinding mobs over and over is very viable, as it is less quest based then LotR or EQ2.Its a little buggy tho, and you need a good computer to run it.Theres a decent amount of people on the servers tho, and there are many classes and races to choose and the world is huge. You get lots of abilities too, and leveling doesnt take too long.
Perfect World,Archlord, and Silkroad Online are some of the better completly free to play games.Maybe you wanna check them out, altho I personally would rather slam my balls in a car door then play an asian grinder.

WOW is extremely slow compared to ff11?Are you kidding me?

well I played on Illidan horde side and I never had problems pugging heroics or kara.Thats one of the reasons I like wow is that you can get groups together easy arnt forced to join a guild at endgame.ZA is being pugged more and more now too.

people do heroics all the time, even more so now that they added in the dailys for heroics and new badge rewards and made unlocking the heroics easier. The stuff you can get with badges are better then the pvp gear, and the upcoming patch is making new badge rewards that are even better.

From a technical standpoint vanguard does. The style of course depends on the person.

I suggest vanguard.Lots of classes and races and huge world.crafting diplomacy and combat to choose from and combat is fun and the classes are very fun and unique.not much pvp tho.the grind isnt nearly as bad as lineage 2, and it is a leveling based game.it runs much better now, but will look like shit if u dont have at least a decent comp.game wasnt too buggy for me and didnt crash much when I played it.the caster classes can wear robes and are very fun to play.you have decent customization too.it has the best graphics of the three games too and the best pve I think.
Lineage 2 has an absurd grind and the game is really only good because of the pvp, and you need to be high level to pvp, which will take you over a year probably.the game is way too inaccessable(is that a word?).
DAOC was a pretty good game and I had fun playing briefly, but its way past its prime. The graphics update make the game look decent, altho the dungeons still look bad.A lot of the game is just outdated now like the UI,combat, and how mobs behaive. Also, the lower levels are very dead.It doenst take too long to level tho and there are solo dungeons and stuff to help you level up by yourself. There's tons of classes and races and 3 diff realms, and you can dye your armor. You can also spec your class in diffeant ways so I guess theres decent customization. If the game was newer and had higher pop, I would still play it, but I'll just wait for WAR now.
I definately think Vanguard is the way to go.Has what you want and has really improved since launch. The server merges really helped the population. The classes and combat are some of the best in any mmo.If you want a leveling based game with lots of options, give vanguard a try.

EverQuest II: All Around Norrath - Remember When?
News Discussion « General Discussion 10/25/07 9:14:49 AM
I played the game shortly after it was released, it was my first mmorpg.I remember seeing qeynos for the first time, getting my room and seeing all the nps talkign to me and waving and signaling me for come to them.It was awsome.Fighting the scarecrows in antonica for hours on end and getting to level 20 and finally becoming a conjuror, was really awsome.Getting to level 20 back then was a big deal, as you got you're final subclass, a last name, a fun spell, and a "signature spell" for your class. In my case, a fire elemental. Also, the giants in TS were amazing to see for the first time, grouping up and grinding them for hours, was fun.BB in antonica was relaly fun back then too, jumping down the waterfall, discovering hidden nps with quests standing at the bottom.I miss the random outdoor grouping of the game.Everything is solo nowadays, which is kinda good, but it would be nice if they kept some outdoor grouping too.Antonica and TS just arnt the same to me when everything is soloable.Seems less, heroic and epic.Of course, as games age, it gets harder to find groups in lower levels, and so I guess its a neccisary evil.Still, I'll never get that feeling again playing this game.

would be nice if they added a little more content patches but still, theres a lot more to do endgame in wow then most mmos and wows expansions are way bigger then most games(look at eq2's first 3 expansions).

WOW has pretty good PVP now that they added in the arena system and more world PVP(On heavily populated servers, world PVP is still pretty active, especially in Nagrand). It's easy to get into and doesnt take too long to get to level 70.Even before then, you can fight random people you incounter throughout your leveling and play in the battlegrounds. The BGs get boring after a while but the arena system is always fun and has a lot of skill envolved. There is 2 on 2 3 on 3 and 5 on 5 arena PVP so you and your friend could do that together.Despite what people say about WOW, it's a great game, doesn't take a year to level, and up to 70 isn't a grind at all.

The WOW and Mcdonalds anology is retarded and inaccurate. Most all mmorpgs cost about 50 dollars when they come out and cost 15 a month.People goto Mcdonalds because its much cheaper then buying quality food.People dont play WOW to save money because it costs about the same as any other mmo.Not to mention, WOW has received pretty much universally good reviews for being a high quality game.

In World of Warcraft if you take the skinning profession you can skin beasts and sell them or use them to mmake stuff with leatherworking profession. If you pick hunter class they have a pet that you have to feed meat too regularly or they will do less damage and run off eventually. Also, you can make campfires and use them to cook food that you can make with the meat you have along with ingrediants you can buy in town.
