Great review.
I think you missed something IMHO. If you are a big fan of the fighting games like Street Fighter, Tekken, or Mortal Combat, you will really like this game. The impression I get from the game is a console fighter with some MMO and leveling thrown in to give you the desire to play for more abilities anot not just winning against all opponents.
Oustside of that, the review was fairly good. I will not be picking it up because I am not a big fan of those types of games any more. It does lack some depth at this point ( most freshly released games do ) and I will be keeping an eye on it to see where it goes. Lots of potential here.
OBTW, I still do not understand why these Super Hero MMO will not put in vehicles? What is so hard about that???????? |

Also, I think somewhere in the teens you do get access to missions from other mentors. At least I recall around 12 being able to take some of the same missions or quests from mentors in other areas.
Now, trying to alternate missions will be an extremem pain as the missions are generally located in various places around the game map. At the higher levels 15+ you will find these are nowhere close to each other and yo would be spending a lot of time travelling back and forth.
I think once you get through the basic first 5-10 levles there are a number of shared mission arcs you can follow. However, the rewards and drops will be related to that mentor. So you may get useless stuff for doing them, xp and stuff will be good tho.
The only other issue are the misions are basically arcs. So you will be re-playing mission arcs to get people caught up with you so the team can be on the same page with the missions. That seams to be becoming the norm nowadays with MMO's anyway so not much of a QQ on this one only. |

I think that was meant to be Traditional not true.
The game will have a great appeal to those who like the mortal combat and streefighter types of combat games. It has a FEEL of those with some MMO stuff tossed in the mix to keep the long term play more viable.
In other words, you would be bored to death if you had all of your abilities form the get go. The ability to customize which powers you use and add them as you level gives you ample time to "Learn" the skill and how when to use it. Just like a traditional MMO.
The challenge comes into not just knowing when and what skill to use but, remembering how and the abilitiy to pull off this skill combo. To be honest, there is a kind of rythem to the combat flow. If you get the rythem going you can chain massive combos together for devestating effects. Even on PvP and not just PvE. PvP challenges feel like going up against a boss mob. While not as simple as the computer AI you do not automatically get ganked by someone you come across. Ok, maybe if there is like a 5-10 level difference at the lower levels.
Mouse/kb vs. Game pad. I would agree that gamepad would prolly be the preferred controller here. I have only played it with the mouse and KB so it is definately doable. The BIIIIG issue with my control is the mouse speed. With the mouse you are looking at 2-7 buttons ( normally) for mapping. Also, the mouse clicks are really alot faster ( IMHO ) than button mashing with your thumb on a gamepad. So, this means to be effective in combat you REALLY have to slow down on the clicking in the game. It is not click clickclickclick click. It is more of a click pause click click pause click-hold click pause click. Takes a bit to get used to but the rythem is definately there and not quite as fast as you would expect or can pull off on a mouse.
The one thing that keeps me from embracing a game such as this is the fact that it is a TWITCH based game play. Fairly well executed I might add. I have not grouped much in the game but, the combos and twitch style tend to elevate my stress level in playing the game. Getting frustrated on missing the timing or someone blocking and ruining that timing to me is more frustrating than in a traditional MMO where the strategy is more mental and knowing when to use the skills in which order. Traditional MMO's have artificial time constraints in the game to manage combat. Most ( there are some timers on some skills ) of the combat in this game does not have that.
So, while I think it is a very good execution and I have high hopes for the game. I will not be playing it or picking it up unless it is like included in a game pass and I even decide to subscribe to that. |

Really good review. I played it during beta and did not have that much of an issue with the camera controls. Liek osmeone else said I used the camera for turning.
I do agree with all of your suggestions to enhance or add on to the game. For their target market of game play they have priced it a bit steep. It should go out as a F2P model with additions to purchase and espcially the idea of buying brick packages. |

When/IF there is a WoW killer that comes along to dethrone this beast. It will go F2P with a market and peeps will flock to it like the second coming of [ insert your holy person ].
WoW will be that old bastage of a hated relative that keeps showing up and everyone Loves him/her for some reason. Only you see their true ugliness and character yet everyone says you "just do not get them or their humor"

What upcoming MMOs are you interested in?

Star Wars TOR
Outside of that, the rest are pretty much cannon fodder and time syncs to make my wait seem to speed by. |

Perfection on release day? Not something to EXPECT?
Why not?
Years of developement and moths of testing should pretty much render a near perfect product. Other than an extreme overload of more players than realistically one could expect. I do not think that it is much to expect anything BUT a perfect product!!! |

You were right Verter. I did believe it was a copy of GW1 and the number of releases after.
I went out and read up on it and I fear the game looks like a F2P that you pay for. Not to be rud4e or anything. Just a feeling I have. The first series of these games really let me down and gave me such a bad taste in my mouth I never really looked back. |

For GW2. See option one.
Tired of paying $60 for a game you can complete in 10 hours of play. And NO, re-doing an instance ad nausea to get all of the drops is not more game play. |

Since every other yahoo is posting what they FEEL this game needs or it is the FAIL I wanted to post this.
This is my LAST Hope for an MMORPG. If this games comes out with a big flop I will probably be moving on to something else. Who knows, I may even go outside once. *shiver*
Seriously though, there is nothing out there that I REALLY want to play. I plan on trying out FFXIV just because it is probably the better piece o crap than is already out there. Everything else is just boring and sux to me. <-- notice I said to me.
So, if SWTOR turns out to be a big pile o stinkin poo ( and I am really really really really hoping it will not ) I am out of the PC Games and probably gams in generall. All of it is turning into nothing but money hungry money/time sinks.
Tired of paying $60 for a game that completes in 10 hours of play. Tired of paying monthly for a game that only patches bugs and updates or add ons just add more bugs Tired of FPS shooters with 4 maps that imbeciles can memorize in three sessions of gameplay. Just tired of it all! |

I am 40+ and do not have problems playing those games. Just do not have the time for most console games or FPS.
Why? Cuz u need to kinda ramp up to the adrenaline level needed to play them. Get your game on or get in the zone. My problem is I stress all day and any game that induces more stress or makes me log in daily is not conducive to relaxing any longer. |
