I have played many mmo's suffered through a myriad of bad launches (Anarchy Online) but none of those launches made me feel 100% lied to or betrayed.
Anarchy online while not playable at release had Devs on the forums in irc explaining what was wrong and how they were going to fix it.
DnL gives us a smug french idiot who considers hsi game perfect and for the community to stop expecting WoW from them. I never ever expected a game from Farlan to be on the caliber of WoW, but for the love of god this game is completely unplayable in every sense.
FPS- Terrible 1
i own a beast of a comp it runs oblivion in maxed setting with 35-40 FPS. I have to run DnL in crap settings and still only get 15 FPS, According to others thats a good rate !!
LAG/Server Stability- Abhorrent 1
Today is release not only does the server shut down but mysteriously so do the forums. Off and on off and on.
PLayability- Incomprehensible
This game has 4 (1 not implemented yet) Experience Layers... Fighting, Crafting, Social (guild and siege crap), and unimplemented Exploration.
Lets see i spent 1 full hour of Grinding to get from level 4 to level 5 and i only died once.
Crafting exp, you have to craft 10 traning items to get one exp, and need to do 80 of those exps to get the next tier of crafting items... 800 fucking hundred items to craft with anywhere from 8-12 ingredients per item. Let alone you have to buy all those items form a vendor who has no filters and has literally hundreds of items to but... Rofl there is no bulk purchasing.
Social exp, you have to be in a guild for this and hell there are alot of guilds but there is ZERO documentation so its all a complete crap shoot figuring out how to do any of the functions.
Graphics/Eyecandy- Dated 1
While the lack of eye candy really does not bother me for a GOOD mmo this game demands computer systems that cost around 2-3 thousand dollars. Even if you do have a system this good it plays awful. The Looks of it are worse then Everquest1. The Fanbois of the game will tell you how beautiful it is on max settings..... OMFG i got 4 gigs of ram a 7900 and i get 15 FPS with there crappiest settings STUFF you !!!! The only thing beautiful is the terrain from a 1/2 a mile away. Fanbois will say ohhh you will cry when you see a sunset. Sure thing WTFever its miles away of course it looks decent. The minimum specs for this game are a outright lie and should be considered criminal.
Customer Service- Nonexistent 1
The Devs are french, and they use there language as a crutch. Look at Nevrax there french and Saga of Ryzom is actually fun, might be a niche game but its great ... Fantastic, downright a miracle compared to DnL. Nevrax devs TALK to there comunity, they inform them of issues there working on. Nevrax was a small indy company just like Farlan but they succeeded even when there game had low points they kept on it and now its got a decent following. Just try and even cancel your account, you will be lucky to cancel it without getting a bad credit card report. Don't even get me started on attempting a refund.
Overall- Abyssmal 1
There is no reason for the state of this game over 5 years of development.... 6 months prior to release they give some unlucky Schmoes Settlers of Ganareth, half assed attempt at trying to showcase there game. Instead of people being impressed with it most were disgusted and left. Saddet part is those who paid 6 months in advance for this game were promised special perks. All of them were negated in the last week because the developers decided to give people who just did standard pre-orders the same perks. The Devs are arrogant, unprofessional, and incompetant at game programming.
I truly had high hopes for this game the concepts in alot of the areas were ground breaking but the implementation was worse then the SWG NGE and we all know how dismal that was for SWG. Can the developers fix this game before the damage has ruined it completely ?? I do not think its possible so many aspects are broken or lack luster, they all need MAJOR upgrades for this game to even have a slim chance.
Oh and to compare this games start to any other MMO that had a rough start is completely impossible no other game has been so bad at a release in so many areas. Other games had some aspect we could all look to and say hey this game has that at least... DnL has nothing redeeming, none of the features that made it unique are in the game.
