as long as they dont revise their combat system (its boring and repetitive) the best stoires and quests in MMO land cant help the game much...

Adding passive stuff like Aegis does nothing for the combat system

The combat is fabulous. How come YOU defend static, motionless, rooted-to-the-ground combat in WOW, and at the same time, bitch about AGILE, mobile, and VERY FAST and FLEXIBLE combat system of TSW? That doesn't make ANY sense.

Oh, it actually does, you just go on what's popular and have no OPINION on your own and bitch about a game YOUR HARDLY EVEN PLAYED. The combat in TSW is as fast or slow or responsive or whatever, as you make it, if you dig deep enough into the game, and not just scratch the surface.

Was there ever any doubt ? each generation of the spg has sold more copies than the previous and when you have a success like skyrim with no real end to the story or reason not to keep it going....why wouldn't you ?

Will they make a better game than skyrim was should be the real question.

I haven't played all of the titles, but Skyrim was pretty darn good.  It will be pretty hard to top, but I'd like to see them try.

I only played Oblivion, but that was hands down the best single player rpg I ever played.

Oblivion was the worst of the series, mostly because it was not RPG (or to a very limited extent), but action adventure game, more like Tomb Raider kind of a game due to the EXTREME HEAVY use of monster scaling, making the entire RPG system void and stupid. Why leveling in the first place, when you have CONSTANT difficulty throughout the game as if you were playing action adventure or FPS game.

I would check for faulty HDD and/or corrupted Windows installation. I'm not saying it can't be faulty MB, but those two are more probable. I would rule out faulty PSU, since it usually gives a totally different set of symptoms.

Yeah, at this point a faulty HDD seems likely. Though a bad motherboard can damage other hardware can't it? But a bad PSU can do the same, and mine I think is underpowered for what is in here and my brand is known to fail a lot. And a lot of my hardware is so ancient, but its mixed with brand new not too good of a combo there. Its why I'm going in and fixing it with new hardware.

I was having a lot of issues till I created a new windows user account. Which things were working fine for a week, and then started back up and even worse than before.

Every symptom screams of corrupted Windows. Why did you rule it out so easily? Failing PSU should not damage other components and should rather crash your PC when the supply is low in order to avoid damaging components. Unless you had BSODs for months prior to that, without trying to fix it, the PSU should be fine. Failing Motherboard usually causes disconnection of some components, lots of BSODs (blue/black screen of death), hard freezes, and especially your PC shouldnt even boot. Keep in mind, it's hard to diagnoze a PC without all the details, this is just a general advice from the limited information in your OT.

Since when is this cheesy rip off of SW considered as RPG? It has less RPG elements than Tropico.

Find it brilliant as previous Risen / Gothic games.

This is heavy European game, fairly old-school, and I wouldnt recommend it to players that grew up on Skyrim or Dragon Age.

Tabula Rasa was not running for 4 months. It was running for 16 months from 10, 2007 to 02, 2009. The author of the article did obviously not play the game AT ALL, and just glimpsed the years without even bothering to get it right.

The combat is among the strongest features of the game. People say its dull and slow, because they did not fully realize the potential of their build.

The combat is extremely fast and deadly requiring high mobility, but can be extremely slow and safe as well, if you make it that way. If you choose +mitigation abilities and gear, your lack of DPS and high survivability can make it look like the combat is dull. However, switch to full DPS gear and youll be a glass cannon.

With the horribly outdated graphics and infantile writing style, im waiting the price to drop below 10 EUR, since I dont expect it to enjoy me for more than a few hours.

How can anyone seriously argue this post?

Crazy isn't it? people are against more options and features in game. Who could have imagined

It isnt totally true. Mob XP is incredibly high in fact. You can get 180-200k XP per hour around level 40 by AoE-grinding mobs alone (or even more if duo) at certain spots, which is about 4 times faster than questing at 40-50k per hour.

A week ago in the Castle of the Worm main quest line, I got stuck with the part, when the NPC should escort you through an area and open a door for you in the end. The NPC got stuck for me and no amount of relogging (even re-entering the dungeon) helped and I got stuck on the main quest (Technical support wouldnt help me and just give me a generic response that they know about the issue and plan to fix it on the next update).

Now after a week the bug was fixed, I was able to continue the quest, only to find out that a few metres there is another game-breaking bug. The boss fight with Mannimarco is stucked at the status (talk to Angus), who is un-interactive. Again, relogging doesnt help, re-entering and fighting the entire place is of no use, the NPC seems to be already standing there in stuck position whenever I enter the instance.

Technical Support gave me the same response that they are aware of it and will fix it next update. Great. But I won't be there to encounter it. Game breaking bugs in the main quest line and the horrific ability delay, which is deadly for my glass-cannon sorcerer are too much for my nerves.

Running at constant 80 FPS no packet loss, yet the ability delay is pretty frequent and quite major to the point it feels clunky.

Shapeshifter - Beorning.
The view distance is extremely short. One of the shortest within genre. It's not that I would play this game otherwise, it's just another nail in the coffin.

It isn't considered a failure. The proclamations and 'facts' around here are often rather far removed from reality.

Yes, thats why EA removed or made voluntarily leave the entire management team of Bioware shortly after the release.

No actually it's Vanguard 2.0, and it may fail just as hard. >.< Unless ZOS *really* works hard, real quick!

I loved Vanguard, but that's beside the point.

People tend to exaggarate Vanguard's failure so badly lately. Vanguard sold 120.000 boxes, with 30 mil budget, right? ESO has probably 10 times bigger budget and might sell anywhere up to 2-3 million. Comparing these two does not make much sense. The extent is uncomparable. ESO will be much closer to the failure of SWTOR or WAR, but a failure nonetheless.

I've been playing for years and I can honestly say that the change to the skills tree was a horrid idea. It completely bound your hands when it came to making "your character" yours. Now everyone plays the same character with the same skills with the same progression... it ruined the feel of the game for most of us that have played for along time. I hope that Turbine changes it back and makes better decisions about what the players want in a game.

The reason they changed the skills was because there was so little variation within classes.  Too many jack of all trades, and not enough specialisation.  Not sure how you could compare the two systems and conclude that the older system gave you more choices?

Lotro was "wowized" even tho there are no longer talent trees in WoW. The new system forces players into one of the three "cookie cutter" roles. The talent trees are totally useless and there is no variation within them, they could have just make you choose the specialization at level 10 without the trees at all. They ADD no variation, TALENT trees are the thing of the PAST, please let it rot. This was a huge step BACKWARDS. There are so many GOOD systems that could replace the previous LOTRO character development, but talent trees are NOT ONE OF THEM.

Builder, builder, builder, builder, builder, finisher. Rinse and repeat, folks! Throw in the occasional cooldown and done is the typical solo build you'll use 80%+ of your game time in TSW.

NOT TRUE, Simply not true.

THIS is a build if you want to have a simple 5x builder consumer build, BUT not all builds are like that. Take Blood+Elementalism build for instance, Bloodshot (one of the most powerful consumers) needs only 2 resources, coupled with Fire Manifestation and Fireshot or Blaze and Cannibalism make your build very fluid and you gotta improvise a lot even during raid or group. You gotta adopt to the situation AND raid/group buffs and ADJUST your burn phase accordingly.

ITS your FAULT if you play your average elemental force build every day, there are TONS of builds which doesn't require you to fill up your resource pool to 5 and then use a consumer. AND I'm talking SOLELY about PVE.

And if you really want to sell the choice of filling up the resource bar to anything lower than five before pressing my finisher as a redeeming factor and the best thing since sliced bread, sorry, it's not working.

The progression is a deck-building game. The resource management is like mana-pool management in the magic:the gathering. The combat itself is extremely action based with lots of dodging and moving around. Different rotations are there tho if you dig deep into the system; not all have the patience to uncover it .I think TSW combat together with the character progression is the best in the genre and the reason number 1 why I continue to play the game with over 2000 in-game hours. What other games have better combat? I can see GW2 is among the top in this poll, how does it differ to TSW? GW2 system is just waiting for cooldowns while you spam number 1.

I really don't want to talk bad about the whole deck-building or the depth it provides, I really don't. I like how the whole skill wheel is quite different form regular skill trees mostly because the wheel is freeform and you can learn what you want to learn.

My issue with TSWs combat is the fact that all this complex and interesting deck building is resulting in such a comparably bad to mediocre actual fighting experience, where you may be happy that your build is working as estimated, but actually pulling off the build proves to be far less exciting than putting it together. And concerning the resources: I don't understand what stopped the devs from including different resource systems (e.g. mana-esque bars for the magics, bullet system for the guns, some sort of rage/ weapon momentum system for melee). This would make the actual combat so much more complex, I think.

But maybe that's just me.

The combat is not twitch-based as most others; maybe partially is but to a much lower extent. Did you miss rage-building mechanic in Skyrim combat as well? TSW combat is a lot more action-based than most other systems. I dont think this game needs more or any other "resource management".

Yeah, the desert campaign was my least favourite part of the game, and I'm not blown away by the whole Indiana Jones thing.  Good to know issue 7 will be good though.

I run TSW on a laptop with an intel4000HD igpu.  My concept of 'acceptable framerate' is probably different from most.  I don't play FPS, and 20fps is fine for me (it can drop as low as 10 when raining in besieged farmlands).  I do notice that Skyrim runs quite a lot smoother than TSW though...

Its because Skyrim is built around 7 year old console technology and Skyrim looked dated already 2 years ago when it was released.

TSW has all the modern finesse and technology, plus it's MMORPG and not a single player game.
